281  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why people don't vote? on: June 04, 2018, 07:10:35 PM
We recently had election and only about a half of voters turned up for the vote.

Don't people realise it is their democratic right to vote, to be able to influence where we are going as society? Don't they realise what a priviledge this is compared to old times and places with no democracy. It is a duty and responsibility in my opinion. If you don't vote, then don't complain!

Because you can allocate your time to better things than getting so obsessed in who to vote for and allot time to actually vote for them. First, the candidates, you don't know them personally. So in order to actually know who you should vote for, you're going to do a research by your own about them. And it's not just research about what they are promising to the world, but all of their achievements as well as their dark side. Who does that anymore?

People are bombarded by campaigns saying that this person is a good candidate because of this and that. At the end of the day, even if you go all the effort to vote who's deserving, people are always going to be a sheep. A sheep to what's going on in the world. One candidate is hyped so much and is liked by people, then people are going to vote for that candidate even if it's not the deserving person. All your research will just go to waste unless you educate the people around you that another candidate is more deserving. Who does that? Even if you do try to promote that person and tell everyone about that candidate, you can only influence a couple of people. People will always be a sheep.

Another thing, people don't vote so they free themselves of guilt. If ever the new President is acting up, they can simply say "Oh, I didn't vote for that." They can say that 100% for sure as opposed to voting for one of the many candidates. The candidate they voted for might win and then act up. They will be guilty that they are one of the people who voted for that candidate.
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is ICO? on: June 04, 2018, 06:57:06 PM
Now that everyone has given the basic point of ICO, (others even gave the meaning of ICO lmao of course ICO stands for initial coin offering), I raise you all this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3752728.msg37027782#msg37027782

I think that it's really really useful. I found it when I was going through the altcoin board looking for something worth reading. Luckily I have found that. It's for people who are interested in investing in ICOs or going to join an ICO campaign or anyone who's interested in an ICO, basically. I think the writer actually know what he's doing based on the insights that gave in that thread so going through his post history might give you even more ideas about ICO or cryptocurrency in general but of course consult you're bff, google, first. There's more article about ICOs and crypto out there but I just suggested this guy's post because it's written in a way that any of us can understand. Not much of technical words used, only simple English.
283  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week - (Extended) on: June 01, 2018, 04:19:59 PM
Is this campaign still open? Can we join?
Please, do you guys know when junior members will be able to join this campaign?

Thanks in advance! Smiley

This campaign is closed for new participants as you can see from the tag in the title [CFNP]. You may navigate through other campaigns using the table which you can find here. Maybe then you can find a campaign that has a spot for you, assuming that you have good post quality.
284  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A world without Politicians on: May 27, 2018, 02:47:14 PM
Most of the political systems in most of the countries are currupted. Government collect Taxes but in return we get very less advantages. There is a doubt about the knowledge of ministers too.

If we can introduce a common governing  system for the world without politicians I think it will be more friendly to the people. Government can be handled by group of people like this. That means same as what we do here in crypto. So there may be varities of ideas. Group of moderaters can pick the best ideas and apply them to the system. It will cut off the additional cost of maintaining ministers and will be more human friendly and real time updated.

"Handled by a group of people like this" - That is no different than a government.

Things that we have today exists for a reason. Before, it was the eldest man of the family who is in-charge to be the leader of the family until he becomes too old to defend or to fight. Some tribes have merged and their leaders are those who are the strongest so when one tribe beats another tribe, the losing tribe has to join the winning tribe and the leader will be the winning tribes leader. Some even believed in the divine grace and said that their leader was chosen by God. Fast forward to a couple of thousand of years, we have the politicians. It might seem messed up, but we can't just remove them in our world because that's how the world is ever since the beginning. It is in our instinct to follow people who know better than us.

Now, it might seem good to be able to remove these corrupt government officials but all I can say is that you should have voted better. By that I mean you should have helped in promoting the nominee that you think isn't corrupt.

When you remove the government, eventually there will be smaller governments, our family for example. Someone has to be a leader. And those leaders will need a leader and those leaders will also (AGAIN) need a leader. Hierarchy will always be formed in order for humans to be able to be at peace.
285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need Suggestions to move from Newbie to Next Level on: May 27, 2018, 01:57:47 PM
Hi Everyone,

I just started to use bitcointalk. Please provide some suggestions to move from newbie to the Next Level.

Thanks!

Aside from reading the links that are mentioned above, I suggest that you also learn about bitcoin. Like, what bitcoin really is and think about what can you contribute to this forum. Just posting and posting won't help you anymore to rank up since for the Member rank, they are now requiring 10 merits and merits can't be just bought or just earned so easily. You have to contribute something by actually being informative in your answers to the extent of helping a user that it made him/her give you his/her precious sendable merit points. It's easy to get to the "Next level" from being a newbie which is Jr. Member since you only need 30 activities and zero merits but I assume you want more than that, right?

In other words, be involved in this forum and help other people. Also all of these things that you have earned will go to waste if you get a negative trust so don't scam people.
286  Economy / Services / Re: Rasputin Mansion Signature campaign on: May 25, 2018, 08:39:02 AM
Hi, I'm updating the overview of signature campaigns table and I just wanna ask if you are escrowing for this campaign or not. Do you hold funds for this campaign? If so, please indicate the escrow address and sign a message using that address in the OP. Thanks! For now, I'm assuming that you don't hold the funds since there's nothing indicated in the OP.

I'm about to update the overview for signature campaigns here in bitcointalk. May I know if this campaign has a spot or not? Thanks!
289  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Warning of the Philippine Government against cloud mining operations.. on: April 24, 2018, 06:50:25 PM
Yes its kinda disturbing from what had happened recently here in PH were couples got arrested of bitcoin scam. The government are fully aware now and might implement restriction of cloud mining or any transactions of bitcoin and may affect us.I hope its not gonna happened.

To be fair, that seem to be a straight up Ponzi. There were not much details in the news but it seems they were sold btc for a high price and that there were recruitment involved.

I'm honestly done with bitcoin being in the news every week. They are saying that "bitcoin" is a scam when in fact bitcoin was the only currency that was used in scamming people. There's tons of online paluwagan (ponzi scheme) on facebook and what they do when they are going to get out of the scenario (once they have accumulated enough amount of money), they edit a screenshot of their coins.ph account and makes it look like the account that's holding all of the funds got frozen by coinsph. In the news, it was clearly an online paluwagan and that bitcoin was the only currency that was used in scamming the people. Now, this question arises, how does that differ from people scamming other people using fiat money? There's none. They are just trying to make bitcoin look bad in the media so people would frown upon it. On the other hand, there are still shows that are educating people about bitcoin, about what it actually is.

And of course the Philippines keeps on posting stuffs like "Bitcoin scam" so they can make bitcoin look bad. I would not wonder, though, because there's tons of cryptomillionaires in the Philippines and they can't collect tax from them except from VAT.

Me everytime I watch the news and they are talking about BITCOIN (itself) scamming people: "Oh wow, same shit."
290  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 16-Apr-2018] on: April 24, 2018, 06:36:17 PM
For now, even if there's asterisk for campaign with merit requirements it won't be used much.
Agree and I think it's worth assuming that there will always be merit requirements especially in the future.
291  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 16-Apr-2018] on: April 24, 2018, 04:10:31 PM
(will update the table today)

Had a problem with the ISP. The ** code applies to the rate of the campaign, not to the requirements of the campaign. Should we add another asterisk to indicate that there's a merit requirement? But honestly since there's this new useful feature we should just assume that there will be a merit requirement since it's one of the ways to see if you're post quality is good. Now, I didn't remove it yet because there might be some discussion in here about it so I'm going to take a look around before I remove it (Edit: There's none. I'm removing it because it's being used not for the way it should be.) Another question is why does the WorldLeague have a red asterisk (Edit: WorldLeague is linked with Sportsbet.) I just got back so I'm going to start reading the last pages.

I think we should have a discussion whether or not we add a new feature that indicates that the campaign has minimum merit requirement. I don't want to decide by my own because this has an effect to the community.
292  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 07-Feb-2018] on: February 15, 2018, 02:31:05 AM
I actually added the Orange asterisk idea now just because I think that will help people more. It's a little indication to add to the table but it gives the viewers more idea of the campaign, more specifically that there's a bonus, and I think that helps them a lot in weighing out the pros and cons of joining one campaign over another.

Yes/No explanation
If a campaign has Yes/No as escrow status, it means that the person holding the funds also manages the campaign. This is a conflict of interest, but shouldn't be a big problem if the person doing escrow is trusted.

Eroiy.io Signature Campaign has released its spreadsheet and it is already FULL.

Eroiy.io Signature Campaign(Higher rewards for users with merits)(FULL)

That's already in the table. I swear if there's a demerit feature somebody has already did that to you because of that post.

EDIT: My bad. Sorry.
295  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 18-Jan-2018] on: January 26, 2018, 05:37:07 PM
Just a suggestion, seeing how Yahoo has launched its first campaign with added bonus for those who have the extra merits, should you add a new coloured asterisk?
Rather than adding a ** on the table that will obscure the actual payment, you can type the base payment with an asterisk besides the campaign's name to indicate that a bonus coins are available for those with meet the required merits.
I can see this type of bonus to be popular and used for the next campaigns in the future Smiley

Maybe not just for merit.

A new asterisk that indicates that the price written in the table is the base payment and there's some bonus in the campaign (e.g. bonus if you wear avatar or personal message, bonus if you have more merit, or bonus if you have positive trust (like in fortunejack). This will remove the purpose of the double asterisk feature tho but I think it's better.

Thanks for the people helping out and posted updates. This thread has to be maintained by the community after all since Mitchell and I have busy days just like you guys. To the guy who thinks that we are responsible for accurate and real time updates of the table, we are not since we don't get paid by someone and this is all just voluntary action of the community. Be the change that you want to see in this world and post updates in real time. It will be hard without a good bot/script so good luck with that.
297  Economy / Economics / Re: Make money from money on: January 14, 2018, 10:10:31 AM
What are the features that a good investor should have? What are the characteristics of people who have enough capital and earn money from money?

What are the factors that make these people successful in their investments?

Well for me the characteristics of a good investor should be:
- Optimistic, it's important to have a positive mindset in the system you are investing
- Risk taker, investing need some risk
- Wise, you must be smart enough to study the background, process and system on the investment where you will put your money

Be optimistic but not to the point that you are being delusional about the whole thing. Once you see that the boat is sinking, then the boat is sinking. You being optimistic would not save the ship from sinking. You should still be realistic altho a bit optimistic. It's important to not be negative because negative thinking in investing makes you a panic seller/buyer.

You can make money from money. Just for example, investing money can bring you larger amount of money in return. Also, buying goods that will make new products can also bring you money.

Also, if you are travelling a lot, you can trade in real life. Like if something is in demand or is missing in a place, and you're in a place where you can buy it, then buy and sell that. There are things that you can only buy at a certain place because their place is the only thing that can grow it or make it. Like strawberries, for example, they only grow in cold places. Once you get there, buy some strawberries and once you're back to your home town where there are no strawberries due to your place being hot all the time, sell it there. I've read a blog post back then where the blogger is basically travelling for free and what he does is he go to a country (e.g. Korea) buys things there and move on to a new country where that certain thing is in demand or is expensive.

i give you billion dollar advice, watch what the succsful people ,countries ,teams groups  do:)
for example: look the country like switzerland they are neutral and so small but so rich:)
and they have power other for example, Warren Buffet ...look what he does:)
what is the best way is just copy and paste !
look what people who power and wealth how they do it all, then copy them and do the same way !!
once you learn this you have no worries you never loose you will be  winner everyday

So where are your money? I get that you might just be starting out but you shouldn't say such if you haven't really tried it yet. I get your point that you should do the same thing as what other successful people have done in the past. But do you have the means? I mean, Elon Musk have opened up different businesses and have talked to different events. But of course he had to train himself first and learn things. But do you have the means to study that much too. Do you have the resources and the mental ability to learn such?

These people have been training for a long time, probably ever since childhood. Their minds are basically trained to be like that.

Dear author, if there were no people who lose on the stock exchange crypto currency, there would be no victories, you should understand that what you earned on the exchange is the money of those investors who lost on the stock exchange. So I think, let it be better to try more people on the exchanges crypto-currency.

But the actual loss will actually happen once the market has go down. The people that just bought bitcoins and haven't really sold it at a lower price hasn't felt that they have lost money yet. But the last people to leave the market are the real ones that're going to lose the most. Not the people that have sold at a lower price.

I learned over the past few months that social media is nothing but pure toxic. But, that doesn't mean that we don't need these toxic people to be here. Some of them might even be rich. We do need social media promotion because if you look at the bigger picture for the mass adoption, those people are included in that scenario. We cannot hype bitcoin if only tech savvy people are going to use it. There will be very limited audience for bitcoin then.

We don't really need to advertise bitcoin but we rather have to educate people about bitcoin. People are generally skeptic about bitcoin just because they got the wrong idea about it. With the help of all the bad stories that was spread by the toxic people in social media, of course.

To be honest, I think that that Youtuber is just clickbaiting you guys. 50BTC and 20BTC and then you simply make a Youtube video? Com'on, you would be freaking out. You wouldn't have the energy to create a Youtube video. That loss is just too much to bear. Anyway, the reason how he got scammed is because he does not know how he got scammed. He doesn't know how to protect himself from the hackers. On the other hand, maybe he do. Maybe he has setup a good antivirus and even have his wallet generated on a separated offline computer but what happened is nothing but negligence. He might have put his private key to a phishing site or maybe even submitted his private key to a google form instead of his wallet address.

A lot of things could have happened but what you should do is always make sure that you are not passively being on the computer especially when you're submitting something like an address because you might be submitting a private key instead. Also, buy a ledger if you really have no idea what to do. Better to make your coins safe right away.
