Pegs always fail.
but unlike CHF/EUR, the SC 2wp would be irremovable (barring *another* protocol change). is it fair to compare? Sure it is. If Blockstream can change it once, surely they can change it twice. Or more. That is, if we let them.

I said the price was going down, yes. I was right. I never said it was dead, don't think so anyway. Here's a post from Oct 2011, a month after I registered. It's okay to say the price is going to go down, and it doesn't mean anything bad about Bitcoin. It can't be up uP UP all the time, there's always going to be corrections to market overreactions, both ways. You seem stressed out. It isn't dead you dumbshit, btc price in fiat is irrelevant. Also this was the best LOL at the entire post. I love how he recommends to "end free trade" as if trade were a policy.
I don't know what coin allegation scheme you're talking about. No, not stressed out at all. I simply won't ever forget how you've run around here banning people, deleting posts, making my life hard with my newsletter business and being an all around dick with your comments while pretending to be an impartial moderator. It's people like you that have given bitcointalk moderation a bad name over the years. It seems to me the title of this thread is referring to all the coins that have been donated to the forum that haven't been put to use to improve it. Most of that adverse attention has been put on theymos but i wouldn't be surprised if you are involved.

That is interesting. What I think might start happening is a fall in the USD as a result which could send Bitcoin soaring. That's pre-empting QE EU. Did anyone see it coming? Nah, no one ever sees these things coming.

Holding. I don't much care about this short/mid term exchange rate garbage. People said the same thing when it "crashed" to 1.50 after a year or so of bear trends. It's dead, it's over, nobody will ever buy this, etc. They were all wrong then, they're wrong now. For those who complain about early adopters, you have the opportunities. Sure there are risks, but the same was even more true back then. No risk, no reward. tl;dr Buy or die.
Flame on. Moving back to speculationYOU were one of those naysayers. Check the Warning Short thread that just got pushed up. Please don't tell me you are involved in this coin allegation scheme?

Which part of '3600 coins per day' do you not understand? Bitcoin is still in socialist distribution phase for the next 5 years. So why on earth do you try to pump it? Are you monkeys or what's your problem?
I would say it is in distribution phase. There's nothing "socialist" in it. Socialism consists in forced taking value from those that produce it to distribute it those that don't produce it. Here, no value is produced. Seigniorage is a problem in the creation of a monetary asset, as it is "unjust" value attribution without any contribution. Seigniorage can be seen as a kind of "socialism". There is only one fair form of seigniorage, and that would be a distribution as random as possible over all people. The point in this distribution scheme is exactly this. The shaking in and out does exactly that: distributing seigniorage as much as it can. No produced value is taken or is redistributed. Nice explanation

warning for Bitcoin Bears. Gold looks to be weakening and is threatening to roll over: silver has really gone nowhere and can't even get up to resistance: if they do roll here Bears, look the hell out. Can you explain how gold and silver prices influence BTC? It's not a troll post, I don't know anything about Economics, but I'm interested. Hard fixed liquid supply bitcoin > mushy fixed illiquid supply of gold. One has been money for 5k years, other will be money for 5k years.

Approaching my little yellow "x" (cypher sharpens DZZ stick).
Being double-short gold means being double-long fiat. I'd never take such a risk, but good luck with that. Actually it means being long Bitcoin. Welcome to the Digital Age!

With the illegal drug trade being 1% of global trade, if Bitcoin was used for just 1% of all illegal drug trade the question should be...
Is 3600 coins per day enough?
$20 trillion in global trade -> $200 billion in illegal drug trade -> $2 billion in Bitcoin drug trade per year.
3600 * 365 = 1,314,000 per year
$2 billion / 1314000 = $1522
Do people use bitcoins for drugs?
Not all but small part of them do use bitcoin for drugs and other illegal activities, And this can not save the bitcoin bubble from burst, That's why the price at $1xx not $1000000000000000000000 And YES, 3600 per day inflation is way way way way too high Aw come on now. Bears told us Bitcoin is only used by drug artists and didn't issue enough coins to ever be a practical form of money. Which is it?

Im pimping my bet. Isn't it obvious?
Bitcoin is gamble, but gambling sites are worse. They profit (1%) from retards. Great business. Lots of morons in the bitcoin community. Gambling sites like bitstamp, Huobi, BTC-e, OKCOIN etc? edit: how could I forget bitfinex!!!? the leveraged one! There's a small part of me that wishes bitfinex was a rogue exchange that instead of running away with bitcoins would run away with cash from short sale gains. Haha, that would be a huge irony! Re your earlier comment re troll idiots. Agree, the proliferation of new accounts and increasing rate of postings is a useful indicator. It's a hella useful indicator. At every botto, they show up in droves. Just check their conten, look up the account date and you get a good feel for what's going on. It's the proverbial "shoot yourself in the foot".

But what's the problem with introducing people to bitcoin via gaming microtransactions anyway?
It would be better if the increase in transactions comes from remittances or merchant payments. But it's better than nothing I guess. I'm more concerned about hitting the 1MB limit before there is a solution to it being rolled out. A game app would not have be anywhere near as popular as angry birds to flood the blocks. There's no doubt though that there is panic selling too as well. But even Sarotoubi serves a purpose to pay miners, get the word out, and probably most importantly pay miner fees. They need those to stay solvent and we want them to stay solvent to secure the network. And if it pushes the devs to increasing block size sooner, great. By the way what do you think about the political controversy around that block size increase? Mircea Popescu will do anything to screw the hard fork. This could end up being really messy. Storm in a teacup. Yep I wish too, but maybe MP will get some support in the community, he already has a decent numbers of loyal followers. I don't think this issue should be underestimate. True, but don't underestimate Gavin either despite punks like tvbcof criticizing him all the time. He has tremendous political power and many people including myself feel he's been the perfect guy to lead us to where we are now. No one's perfect but he's been great. Plus, I'll take Sarotoubi anyday if that is what it takes to get us to the next level which it clearly might be: micro tx's.
