So I reinstalled the wallet, deleted everything except my wallet and conf file, and now I can't even connect. I'm trying to give this coin a chance, but it's testing my patience now. Can't move my coins. Can't even sync my wallet now. 500k coins I can't even use.

wow 600% jump in price today, and kitteh has not even relaunched, 60 Satooshi here we come, and with the hard fork adjustment we might be talking 120 satooshis  Now for sure those early dumpers are feeling the sting, but with 3 or 4 days left on these high blocks we'll have a race on mining, move aside 42 lol Listen to this man! I'm speaking with my cryptoexpert on the team tonight and should have the block rewards figured out later tonight if all goes to plan, also will know if we are modifying max coins (we are really trying to avoid that since we know its been reduced one shortly after the initial launch). Miners should mine on the big rewards while you can! they are not going to be around much longer! Are kittehs total amount and block reward getting reduced or it stays the same?
My understanding so far this is being discussed and if it does happen a forced update to the client is needed, however, with the relaunch coming this should not be hard, as the relaunch page would have all new links and information.. Cutting the total amount of coins and block value should reward the early investors, plus, I still suggest a super block to emphasize our logo. I suggest we do this before getting on an active exchange, if we do it. Note: I should add here, this coin is one of the very very few released lately with no pre-mine what so ever. Great Job Dev Team, thank you for all your hard work. Thank you very much! We've been working very hard to right the ship in regards to KittehCoin in a fair way. So tired of these scam coins, pump and dump coins, etc. KittehCoin is a real coin worked on by a NOT_ANONYMOUS team and we are as communicative as possible with our plans. Your statement is correct, the reward will be getting reduced and the total coins MAY be reduced as well. As soon as I have final insight into these changes they will be communicated to the community AHEAD of the relaunch, please see the status update I posted for more details to that end. i hope not getting reduced it will scare away new miners kitteh is already more rare than doge They will be reduced. How will this scare away miners? There will still be decent block rewards they just won't be so high as to devalue the coin entirely. The current block rewards don't even work out if you do the math, will take 30+ years to mine all the coins and initial rewards are way too high. Kitteh is more rare than DOGE but at 50billion total coins I think rare is a relative term here. |

Wow I want to thank everyone for their feedback and support! Stuff like that is what keeps me and the team going I also want to sincerely thank the members of the KittehCoin devteam, without them this would not be possible! Everyone on the team is doing this voluntarily; no one is getting paid (in any form) and everyone has other stuff they could be working on. So I can't express enough how thankful I am to the team, hopefully they get that feeling from our discussions on the KittehCoin Forums I'm stuck on the clock right now but I wanted to answer some questions that people have posted, and I encourage people to ask more if they may have them! Shouldn't this be called a client upgrade with more features than calling it relaunch? Relaunch would mean that the current kittehcoin becomes obsolete.

Very unlikely.... i had a chat with the guy from cryptsy and they didn't like Kitteh, of course that was before the changes. We'll see. I think MEOW should be on cryptsy but when the time is right (not just yet). The addition to CoinedUp was premature. If there have been internal discussions @cryptsy related to KittehCoin I would hope that with the relaunch they would reconsider as the entire ecosystem around KittehCoin has changed dramatically. It would be rather short sighted of them not to take another look given all the services, features, community and information that will be coming or are already released. That's a good thing people should mine now before the block reward changes are put in place  (being 100% upfront about that!) . There will be a bigger push to get on additional exchanges once the relaunch is officially released and in the wild (eta: less than a week at this point given all indications I'm aware of...). Good thing about kitteh is that we dont need to worry about miners switching to this coin and dumping it till at least 30-40 satoshi where it hits the magical reward of about $10/day from 1000khs of power. So we should see at least 40-50satoshis from this coin in not so long future
Currently at the moment its more cost effective to buy them at those 4-5satoshis instead of mining them.
+1  tear down those walls before the price jump hits with relaunch... again, in an effort to be as forthcoming as possible about what is coming - we will be changing the coin parameters in terms of block reward and/or max coins with the relaunch so the value of existing coins will definitely be impacted. As soon as I know what the finalized parameters will be in regards to the changes I will post them to the community and the wiki ahead of the relaunch.

KittehCoin Relaunch IS COMING!This is a status update! It has been a few weeks since KittehCoin first launched and although the dev team has been doing everything they can to keep people updated there has still been some confusion so I want to give the community an update. KittehCoin is very much alive, we have been working on establishing a solid informational center of gravity in order to allow the coin to grow. At the time of the original launch, under a different developer, these resources were not in place leading to a somewhat failure to launch. Things like a wallet for Mac and populated wiki were missing. Logos were inconsistent. Then personal complications in the creator's life caused him to have to step back as the lead. Then unfortunately the coin was prematurely listed on CoinedUp leading to "dumping". I have now stepped in as lead. My first order of duty has been establishing that informational foundation and the core services that were missing from the first launch. Regardless of others' personal opinion the coin-logo used in the first launch wasn't ideal. A new one was chosen via community selection as we try to do with most KittehCoin related decisions. Since I've taken over as lead the development team has grown to 10 people. We still have the original coin creator on board and assisting just not leading the effort. We've remedied many of the issues that were missing from the original launch, and are close to a relaunch. Because we aren't ready to relaunch just yet, here is some information on where we are at... Please be aware that due to the the faltered initial release and a decided upon better design there are plans to change some of the characteristics of the coin including, but not limited to: changing the block reward payout structure and/or changing the maximum amount of coins. One other thing today - the LuckyMiner pool keeps shutting down on me. I'm running cgminer and it either won't connect, or runs a few minutes and then tells me it's waiting for the server. Anyone else?

kittencoinpool down have anything to do with it ? They're in my wallet, why would it matter? Unless they were on some different fork. If they are in your wallet it then the pool issue shouldn't matter. What OS are you on and what is the experience you are having (error, nothing happens, etc?). Are you using the latest version of the wallet or older? PM me and I'll be happy to help you out. |

im on luckyminers too, pools all good you can check if the difficultys correct by going to the qt and hovering your mouse over the green tick should show the difficulty Yep that is correct at the moment, we haven't changed anything in terms of coin specifications yet but we most definitely WILL be changing these specs to ensure the long-term health of the coin. Block reward modification seems like the most reasonable approach, but I've been talking with Lonestar108 and there are other things we can do too; there are also some very cool features in the pipeline for the coin including a possible sister-coin so you could do merged mining. Don't want to get ahead of myself and I've probably already opened the door to more questions than I have answers for at this very moment but I wanted to share that there are definitely bigger plans in place than making this just "another altcoin". It will have specific features and advantages other coins do not have; innovative features, not crap like "there will only be 42 coins! zomg!" or "look a coin with a gay-fish-turned-rapper". We have real innovation planned. We are in the process of populating the wiki, we've got some info posted on solo mining, mining pools, and faucets. More info is being added daily( http://kittehcoin.info/wiki) and we'll update the community on our overall progress in a new thread tonight when I escape the day-job . how do i upgrade my wallet exactly? Dont want to accidentally delete my coins XD
Just download the latest wallet for your OS from KittehCoin.info and run it; your coins are stored in a wallet.dat file within your home directory so as long as you don't delete that your coins are fine. All you should need to do is download the new exe/app and run it Just like with bitcoin, litecoin, etc. |

Nice Confirmed- it was cut once from 100B to 50B and that was applied very shortly after the original launch. We are now discussing possibly lowering that further. It is just an idea at this point (rather than reducing block rewards, or we might do both, nothing official yet; we are working on what would be best for the coin and community in the long run). Yes coins will be worth more if we do that (technically speaking, since there will be less total). Fork of codebase will not impact you, only miners. Nothing will happen with your coins. I don't want to get into a bunch of details yet since that isn't a confirmed path of action at this point but if we do decide to do that, your coins would be unaffected and we will make sure to communicate it clearly. As you can see we are actively responding to questions and we do care very much about the community. Yeah doin this one more time should be ok, but half? Imho 10 B would be best

Honestly the original announcement on page 1 really sucks, whether it's title or content, it looks like chicken scratch, I made a parallel announcement once because I was so sick of this one, if you search for it you will find it. If you can not fix this announcement you might want to start a new one with the relaunch. Is there anything new with wallet update other than the Logo? this coin needs something to put it above the rest, 2 weeks for just a logo change is not going to cut it, I suggest you implement a major change before relaunch, I could think of two that were discussed but never implemented. Either you add a feature that would give this coin added value, or you implement the idea of cutting total coins in half and adding a 8 super blocks on daily basis to cover for the cut coins, this will give the coins already mined or invested in instant value gain, and the super block feature adds new interest from miners, if we are following through on a logo that says luck, then how we are not to reflect this luck factor in the mining process? 8 super blocks daily could mean an added value to the Asian market that finds the number 8 to be lucky, change block values " 888 to 8888 " with 8 super blocks of 888888 or what ever you guys do the math. Seriously if you are not implementing a new feature, please consider the block value change, also make the early investors happy and the early dumpers mad. please comment on this asap. We've been spending this time building the community around it, games, services, and core information so it can even legitimately exist in the first place, the coin could be the most unique in the world but with the information available as it was at the first launch it would still have gone nowhere. We will post the relaunch as an entirely new thread that is why I have let this one go as-is for the time being, we are also planning a status-update announcement post as a new thread as well. Regarding the block reward settings- this is something we were actively discussing in the devteam chat on KittehCoin forums. We were discussing cutting the reward by 1/5th across the board with bonus blocks or something like you mentioned in order to increase scarcity. The coin total has already been cut once (100B to 50B) I don't know if cutting it again would be bad, I'm not opposed I just don't want people to think anything shady is going on as it's not we just want to make this coin successful even if that means slightly modifying the specs to do so (this is a relaunch after all, but all current coins will remain). The problem raised with a block reward change is that it would require a hard fork of the codebase which then miners would have to switch to; not the worst thing in the world and definitely something better to do NOW than later but all things that we have been discussing. Would love to hear your thoughts on it (and the community at large). I know dumpers may be upset but I'm not really concerned about them; shouldn't have dumped! the wallet.dat itself is not encrypted, the wallet client and its .dll's and other needed files ARE; thats why they are green
