741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: July 19, 2014, 10:11:34 PM
In the event that Syscoin fails to deliver, we will be contacting all parties via email for a refund address.

Just to give that answer some context Wink @slex = Moolah = Escrow. If we fail, Moolah will be contacting all investors to make sure they get their BTC back proper.

Trying to keep up here...

Like others have asked, do you have any roadmap or budget for the ipo funds?

Will devs be keeping any significant BTC for themselves or will all funds go towards marketing/development, etc?

What types of marketing are you planning on doing to reach outside of the crypto community?
How will you get wall street interested?

Thanks

Collected funds are being focused on several things, primarily building partnerships with large players in the crypto space (I mean companies, not whales). We're also going to be spending some of the collection on bounties, although not all of it as we do have a small amount of Syscoin for bounties as well. Then of course, future development; we're already trying to push additional features (2) into the coin prior to launch, on top of the 4 that are already completed. Outside of that we will hold much of the BTC for ongoing costs that we can't currently predict. We already have some deals in place that look to exercise the BTC we're collecting and the deals we're working on aren't cheap, but will ultimately take Syscoin to the next level.

a sneak peak on these two features?

On the team call this morning we were discussing that in 4 weeks it may be feasible to implement "smart contracts" as they are typically understood in the crypto community, requiring 2 sets of keys, etc. The other feature would be making the already-on-deck marketplace feature a bit more flexible by allowing the concept of counteroffers to a seller's asking price. Escrow is also on the long term roadmap but its not something we can fully deliver in 4 weeks. If we sell out sooner and launch sooner then these 2 additional features will probably bleed into the next release.

In the event the SYS team does not deliver SYS I get an automatic refund from escrow, correct? What is 'not delivering SYS'? Failing to deliver a simple wallet with SYS coins and no additional functionality at all? Or not delivering a fully fuctional wallet with the 4 core features operational (no alpha's, bèta's, untested) as listed in the OP?

The second, it is contingent on delivering what we outlined in the preann (4 features, merge mineable, plus normal coin stuff). If we just deliver a clone coin (not happening) you'd get your money back. If we don't deliver at all, of course you get your money back.

Alpha/beta is something we're toying around with but also keep in mind the overhead that takes to manage/respond to feedback and how that may impact our ability to roll out new features on top of the 4 already slated for the launch. Not something we're saying "no" too but something we want to make sure it manageable. We have been testing Syscoin for almost 2months now, so I wouldn't call it untested Wink but more testing never hurts.

so is the launch 4 weeks from now fixed, i read that if we get the target of 1500btc will it be launched early.

That is correct. We will do a full launch on August 16th.

so regardless of all the ipo shares being bought before aug, launch is on the august 16th

At the latest. If we feel the platform is stable enough sooner we may launch sooner, esp if the presale sells out. We're trying to squeeze 2 more significant features into the launch (in the 4 weeks til launch) so will have to see where we're at when presale sells out/if it does.

Hahaha!!! GOT IT !!!!! The bottom line whee is says amount. I was putting in a single number e.g.. 1     I needed to put 1.0 and then in a second it came up with the address. Dummy me, but I've got it now. Thanks for all your help and quick responses.

Awesome! Glad it worked, maybe there was a rogue " " in there after the "1" or something, we just tested with "1" and it gave us an address but if other people run into similar problems please let us know and we'll investigate further!

Also, we've increased translation bounties significantly (10k SYS, ~0.05btc). Someone has already reserved the chinese translation.

With 1500 BTC, is everyone going to be full time working on the coin because 1 month in crypto is like many months in the real world. We need your  full undivided attention to coin.

We already put in about 4-6hrs a day on the coin which is pretty close to full time on top of our regular jobs (which are software related). The team is distributed across timezones which allow for 24/7 development but we do have dayjobs.

Unfortunately we aren't putting 1500btc into our pockets so we can't quit our dayjobs in order to focus on crypto solely, although we'd love to do that. We will use some of the funds to expand the base of coders working on Syscoin as needed to make sure development keeps humming- now that we're getting an idea of how much Syscoin may sell in the presale we're already starting to interview additional crypto/C++ developers.

We do spend pretty much every waking minute outside of the dayjob on this; ask our significant others. They hate us now  Cry

Is the Generate Investment Address step supposed to take >5 minutes?

Servers are getting hit at the moment.

Been in a holding pattern for over 15 minutes. Tried on PC/ Windows and IMAC....is there a problem?Huh

When I tried safari (after chrome stalled), it was instantaneous while the other browser continued to stall. Try a few different browsers?

There is quite a high server load at the moment but I just tried using Safari here and it worked without issues. If you experience problems please try using a different browser or refreshing the page and trying again. We just tested against Chrome, FF, Safari, mobile chrome, mobile safari, mobile firefox and all were working so please try again.

Presale details POSTED!

Whitepaper (draft), videos, screenshots, and other info are there to prove this is all very very real. Here we go...!

We are publishing the link to purchase now, the gateway won't open until the time we called out, in 10min!
748  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: July 19, 2014, 04:45:34 PM
so are we still ready for launch on time and to buy the coins we would just need to purchase from the sell order right or a special request will need to be put

Yes we are, please have some patience. We're quite busy at the moment spinning things up.

moolah looks professional but why a new exchange, did you talk to bittrex, im sure if viacoin was lisited sys would have too. be great to have your real identities no offence intended

id feel much better if it were on bittrex, so will not risk much. getting ready to hire a rig

We are official partners with Moolah (Moopay LTD) and they have been around much longer than Bittrex, as well as having many more services. Think about the relationship here- its not about just selling Syscoin.

Also is it merge mined from the start? So diff starts high? Or is it kicking in on a block.

It will be from the start but people will have to configure their p2pools and such themselves, we're working on getting a fork created of more mainstream pool platforms for greater adoption of merged mining (bounty). Even though merged-mining will be available from the start the reality is initially this will be mined the traditional way, and slowly merged mining will come into effect as people have time to set that up.

I might have missed it but danosphere, how are you guys enabling smart contracts on your blockchain? Cause the whole certificate thing looks more like asset on next and not really a smart contract. Another query I had was, how do you stop people from issuing worthless certificate to bloat the blockchain?

Good question! "Smart Contracts" as interpreted in the vein of Nick Szabo would probably require leveraging multiple Syscoin services such as a certificate and an offer (offer's have the cost, quantity, and payment flow attached). In the demo video, we only show the certificates side of that (and an extremely rudimentary example at that). Based on my understanding (reading here) an offer would need to be combined with a cert to produce a "smart contract" like flow. I need to do more reading on this definition of smart contracts and then I can give a more thorough reply on how that relates to Syscoin, or if its something different entirely. Based on my initial reading it seems to be a combination of offers and certificates, but I do need to read more. The important part here is there is no central authority (a bank, a broker, a ticket reseller) enforcing or maintaing the certificate/contract and its provable ownership, the network facilitates that.

It is not the same thing as the NXT asset exchange. Our "offers" feature is "sort of" like the NXT assets (NXT assets are rather confusing imo - this doesn't look like something I can just buy), our offer implementation is more understandable from a normal user/marketplace perspective. Its like listing an item for sale. From what i understand of NXT asset exchange it has to do with shares of NXT (or something), the marketplace looks like a blog so its hard for me to determine what exactly is going on there. And I read their whitepaper and it wasn't the most informative so providing concrete comparisons to NXT I won't do- but i will read up more on the generally understood concept of crypto-smart-contracts and provide a better explanation of how Syscoin plays into that role.

Also as I mentioned earlier Syscoin is not a ground up rewrite like NXT. It takes well-reviewed codebases (Litecoin, Bitcoin, Namecoin) and combines their features and build on them.

WOW that was fast. I just uploaded that 5min ago. Well done sir!

Feedback welcome- and as promised more videos (and whitepapers) to come.

Why Scrypt?? That runs so hot and in the summer it is even worse.  What Scrypt coins are merge-minable with this and what pools support merg-mining of Scrypt?.

We are leveraging the most used algorithm after sha-256 to ensure the good-health of the network and to spread distribution amongst miners, reducing possibilities of heavy dumping, which is specifically the reason it is merge-mine-able. You will technically be able to mine it with ANY other Scrypt coin as long as the pool supports it; we will also be offering a bounty to release an MPOS fix so that any MPOS scrypt pool will be able to merge-mine it.

+1 And because for large distributed financial systems like this that go beyond a simple system of recording transactions you want as much stability (hashing power) and decentralization of that power as possible. Scrypt mining plus merge mining is the answer here. You can mine Syscoin alongside any other Scrypt-based coin, its not a question of if that coin allows it or not. Because of this, you'll immediately be able to merge mine Syscoin using P2Pool.

For larger more ubiquitous pool setups as @sebstien1234 pointed out we'll be offering a large bounty for an MPOS fork that implements merged mining, which would mean (if pools upgrade to this version of MPOS) you could mine Syscoin alongside all the current Scrypt based mining pools running on MPOS. That is a lot of hashing power, and also makes the coin far less susceptible to Multipool attacks once the full network power is realized and ensure that people will keep mining Syscoin on the side for the network and service fees even after PoW ends.

I want to point out our team is always looking at the horizon as to what to do next (...and we haven't even launched yet). We have some cool things planned for Syscoin and its not just some x275 PoW, we'd like to think bigger than that Roll Eyes

dano just shut the fucked up plz

What's your problem? You take issue at me actually doing something and calling others out to do the same? Mature, and intelligent.

dano just shut the fucked up plz

No need to get all personal.
Dano has been great to Kitteh and therefore he deserves thanks more than abuse.

Thanks, its not just me- there are lots of people that have contributed to Kittehcoin as a pure labor of love, no one who worked on it (that I know of) has made any profit- just those who manipulated the markets on the back of our work.

Maybe @otello doesn't realize this but replies like his certainly discourage any further contribution, maybe that's his goal.

Dumping should stop soon!

Update:
Xanaon still holding at 0.00000011 woot!  Cool

Its those darn rig renters killing another coin

0.00000011

http://xan.v2.dedicatedpool.com/index.php?page=statistics&action=pool

I mean really, is there any other pool hosting this coin other than those lame multipools? lol so sad, its pathetic  Undecided

The code for XAN is hosted here -> https://github.com/xanon/xanon

Instead of bashing it so much why don't you and your community of supporters stand up some more pools?? Your complaining/bashing isn't helping the "honest miners" you claim to represent. People need to stand up some more pools if dedicatedpool is so terrible; p2pool is a good start. Mobilize your people rather than bashing. People who mine (rented or not) don't have many choices as to where to mine right now, so they go to the one place available. I know if there were another pool available I'd be mining on it rather than dedicated and I have decent hashing power.
757  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MEOW] KittehCoin Relaunch IS HERE!!!! on: July 13, 2014, 07:35:07 PM
MEOW/LTC market is already open.
Don't lose faith people as soon as the whole altcoin market rebounds Kittehcoin will follow and outperform a lot of other affirmed coins, we have seen this before.  Wink

Smiley I just compiled the 0.8.6.3 client thats a work in progress and I'm trying to help the team out with some of the testnet work they're doing. There are definitely still people working on this but as I stated when I moved to focusing on Syscoin- if the community doesn't step up the coin will suffer. A select few people have stepped up but the majority of "bagholders" maintained their positions on the couch, complaining.

* If you know C++, you can help Kittehcoin.
* If you have Twitter/Facebook/Reddit/BCT you can help Kittehcoin (talking to you on the couch).
* If you run a pool you can help Kittehcoin.
* If you know web development you can help Kittehcoin.

Keeping Kittehcoin alive requires a community of people who act.

I'm committed to KittehCoin:

Pool: http://mining.securepayment.cc/pools/kittehcoin/
Faucet: http://faucet.securepayment.cc/meow/

Grin Grin Grin That's what I'm talking about! More people need to follow this example!

We need an innovative feature but nothing like the other coins

Let's brainstorm, this is our coin

Can we set up the anonymity feature? This is one of the hottest trend, if we can combine other factors (your status, no IPO, premine,...), this can attract lot of ppl.

Yeah you [the dev] should look at other coins like Stealth and XC codebases and then pull anon from them.
