461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 05, 2014, 06:36:38 PM
or even better, create a private community on the syscoin site.

with the ipo money you would have thought this would have already been implemented imo.

We don't need any of the IPO money to do that- and we actually have this up and ready internally already. The question with that kinda of strategy becomes do we start having to do moderation/management in the private forums and on BCT or do we just move to private forums entirely (by private i mean public but with easier ability to ban and moderate more effectively). If we move then what is the best approach for keeping BCT informed but still keeping the discussion on Syscoin Forums? My initial thought is quick posts to BCT with locked topics that link back to the Syscoin Forums for discussion.

Interested in hearing opinions on this- we can move on this very quickly if people feel Syscoin Forums are the best solution here.

I am sorry Dano that you have to deal with all these FUD.. I like to let you know that there are believer like me out there.

Smiley

Thanks! I just hope real investors (like yourself) see these ppl for what they are- just look at the accounts of these users posting this garbage. Some people created accounts to do nothing but post FUD in this thread and that is the entirety of their history here on BCT. I'm trying to spend just enough time here to keep this clean and informative; we definitely will be hiring a CM to be watching this more carefully so when I'm busy with other things (managing the teams higher priorities and making sure they are executed on properly) for a few hours it doesn't spiral out of control.

Also, we'll be migrating all major news updates to our upcoming blog and that will be tied into all kinds of channels like FB, Twitter, RSS and more so there will be better dissemination of real Syscoin news. Will still be here on BCT but the primary will become the blog.
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 05, 2014, 05:09:29 PM

I have PMd @Cointang and @larraboj asking them to stop polluting this thread after deleting their posts multiple times. Additional posts as such will result in request to admins to ban.

This article is actually quite accurate regarding the state of things and what we are working on -> http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/syscoin-news-updates-moolahio-funds-statement-soon
464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 05, 2014, 04:44:00 PM
man..what happened here? :\

nothing, just some FUDers, conspiracy theory people, and somebody who thinks this thread is an exchange.

^^ This. Sorry for the mess we'll have someone fulltime to manage this stuff ASAP. I do have a dayjob + higher priority Syscoin imperatives.
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 05, 2014, 04:41:58 PM
Let's hope thier new project will be better.

I just can say from coder point of view, and by looking their current code with so much improvement added from basic litecoin code, i don't think they can find better project currently, Syscoin code already provide big challenge for any developer, the features they projected are quite interesting and difficult but it also have big potential, and i hope they really bring qualified help because i believe it will be to slow to work on this size project with current rooster and of course some FUDers, competitors, or some random curious people already take some of developer time to answer the same thing over and over again, like other have said before, hire some Professional PR to handle all basic question and let the devs focus on technical development.

Moolah involvement in this only bring good thing so far, lets hope they can help devs and Syscoin to next level.

+1, this is why I hold all my coins until now, I think DEV will get more guys in after they got the first batch of investment, and DEV hold 50m + SYS themselves, this is why they will continue the development, but I prefer to trust they are honest men.

Yeah we aren't going anywhere, and we're working on growing the team more to help with these types of communications while we focus on larger dev goals. There is no new project.

Moolah is fine. The terms were changed (under mutual agreement) to give the Syscoin dev team the benefit of the doubt. Under the pre-existing terms funds would have been returned to investors on launch day and there would be no Syscoin.

What gives him the right to change the terms?

From what I understood. Moolah was supposed to hold the coins for a short period of time while the coin launched and until all the features worked.

If they could get the features working he would pay the devs (they didnt work). We should have gotten a refund but he fucked us there. Probably because he had too much invested in syscoin and couldn't let it fail.

Now since he decided to not refund, eventhough the terms clearly stated that he should have. What gives him the right to hold the coins indefinitely?

There are two options
1. Refund
2. Give coins to devs

Why the fuck does moolah think that the coins are his to keep?

It's quite simple actually. Mutual agreement between the two parties. There is no indefinite holding of coins, there is a staggered release of the remaining 750 BTC over the next 3 months - a move that the vast majority of the community supported. This same move was agreed between ourselves and the Syscoin development team, in order to ensure continued development and provide increased community support in light of this move. For some reason, you're having a tantrum over this, for reasons I cannot quite fathom.

^^ This is correct actually and we have plans to talk to Moolah today.

To be clear there was never any complaining about funds once funds were received (500btc).When we didn't have *any* funding we made it clear we needed some part of the fund to move forward at which point Moolah released 500btc to us as I clearly stated in my last post. Totally enough to get going and that is what we did. If people had read our news updates they would even see we are already proactively applying this fund to hire 3 new people -

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=757255.msg8648754#msg8648754 This is what we are working on at the moment.. Ignore the FUD

We'll continue as planned. Sorry for the pages of FUD that sprung up while I was busy this morning. We also have a new website and blog going live this weekend where you'll be able to find much more concise and clear information. We are also looking to hire a community manager- I agree entirely too much valuable time is spent managing this thread alone; CM's responsibilities will include managing this and more- Jobs will be posted on OP tonight and mirrored to website this weekend.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 05, 2014, 01:14:38 AM
Regarding the Moolah situation I spoke with Alex briefly today and have another call lined up with him and a teammate for finalizing these terms tomorrow. The facts of thus-

We spoke with Alex 8/23 regarding the statement he made earlier in the month on BCT regarding the fund distribution and the terms of that distribution.

We agreed in principle on all terms, and wanted all aspects of this new agreement put in writing, to which Alex agreed to start the legal documentation process. We are still awaiting receipt of that agreement.

That agreement is to contain the following clarifications:
- The exact date each month the 250btc is paid out
- Fund visibility of both the BTC and the SYS in public balances
- Clarification on the details of "best effort" developer support.

After this call (8/24) we were sent the first portion of the disbursement - 500btc - which we are currently using as operating capital.

Thought I would bump this up...  Still collecting SYS for charity!!

Thought I would bump this up.  We will be talking about SYS on this Saturday's show!!  Hoping to collect a crapload of SYS!!!

Got some spare SYScoin sitting around doing nothing?  Since I'm an active SYS miner (and supporter), please check out www.cryptoforkids.com

For the past decade WLRA Radio/Lewis University (Romeoville, IL) holds a bi-annual fundraiser to benefit Advocate Hope Children's Charities. So far Lewis U has raised over $100,000 for the charity. Twice a year WLRA has a "To kill a DJ" week where students raise money for the charity.
We are Big Burrito Radio (heard on WLRA Saturday mornings at 10AM CST), wanted to come up with different ways of raising money for the charity. We started out doing collections at music events. Then 4 years ago we came up with Island Dreams (www.islanddreamscards.com). Island Dreams is a charity art card set that itself has raised over $10,000 in the past 3 years.
Last year I caught the crypto-currency bug. I thought what a great idea to take crypto and exchange it for BTC for the Children's Hospital! So here we have Crypto for kids!

Second bump for a good cause!

We have new things coming this weekend specifically the website and blog which will be much more informative and provide direct access to resources that are currently scattered and/or hard to locate. Already started working on the new marketing effort around marketplaces you should see some additional info on that this weekend as well. Just a quick update today - focused on moving code things forward  Smiley

Also we are aware of the library/packaging problem with the 0.1.4c Mac Wallet and will be releasing an update tonight to address this issue.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 04, 2014, 02:40:43 AM
...the supernet has its own cyber shopping mall. were you spend all differnet types of cryptos on the supernet..but i thought that syscoin was building their own type of supernet ..only winner is the supernet

Please keep the comments civil. I have read up on SuperNET and PM'd jl777 asking for more specific information. It sounds pretty cool but I'm looking for more specific info related to the benefit it would provide Syscoin users/the Syscoin network rather than just sharing Syscoin features for free. More info we'll be provided as we learn more about SuperNET's benefits.

For the time being we're still continuing as planned getting this Syscoin Marketplaces marketing effort together and launched. We're hiring professionals to put together this microsite, etc. and we'll see how its received by the community. We're also rolling out a new website/blog by the weekend to further improve Syscoin's image/marketing.
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 03, 2014, 04:24:14 PM
Do we have a detail roadmap like Supercoin has, theirs is very detail and clear.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=736705.0

We don't but we should with more concrete dates like the SUPER roadmap. Another good example imo is http://halcyon.pw/roadmap/. We will get something like this together ASAP. We have one internally but we will get together an external roadmap in short order.

Contacting jl777 about SuperNET tonight!
471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 03, 2014, 04:03:42 AM
Will this coin join in the SuperNET initiated by jl777?

We're reading up the SuperNET. Can't say yes or no at this point I can say we aren't ignoring it!

Jl777 is very famous in this community, if SYS can participate in SuperNET, price will be up quickly, it is called "jl777 effect", just as BBR has gone from a death spiral with no volumes to being one of the more actively traded coins

Seems like a very solid idea (reading on SuperNET). We will reach out to jl777 to see if/how we can participate now that things are working right!  Smiley
472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 03, 2014, 04:02:19 AM
We realize the last two weeks may have seemed like slow motion but we were intentionally holding off heavy marketing until everything had been verified working and stable. There were actual issues with the client the first week which caused network instability. We didn't want to draw attention to something that wasn't operating 100%.

The following week the team focused on enabling merged mining and service-fee regeneration for miners. If you watched the network hashrate (which can be considered the stability of the network) it was very low- 2GH because of all of the issues the daemon was causing for pools. In the 0.1.4 release we not only addressed these daemon issues bringing all of the pools back, but we also enabled merged-mining and service fee regenerated rewards for miners starting @ block 17k. We had to monitor the network closely during this launch to ensure pools were operational again and the subsequent merged mining started hard fork to make sure that all went smoothly- and it did. Now the network is incredibly stable with about 15GH average for a coin less than a month old with low rewards- we see this as a positive for those looking to do business on this network.

Finally, there were issues relaunch the 0.1.4 wallet on wallet reload which we wanted to fix and did with 0.1.4c. Now we have a proper product we can market aggressively inside and outside of the crypto space. Starting any marketing before all of the various features were enabled (mergemine/regen) and the network was stable would have been repeating mistakes we learned from at launch.

I wanted to take the time to explain the above so people can understand we have been busy these past few weeks. And we plan to remain busy moving forward. I have to reiterate that Syscoin is a coin with actual NEW features and thus we had problems no other coin would have at launch. We also present service offerings that literally don't exist in the current marketplace.

We need to be strategic about how we bring these features to market and that takes some planning and what may appear to be slower steps but its really just measured steps. You can't throw out a decentralized marketplace to the mainstream public and expect them to immediately understand its benefits or how to use it without a number of educational materials, examples, and even references for developers to build upon. We have plans to provide all of this, and we're going to do it one feature at a time to continue to refine our approach with each successive initiative. All of the four services are working perfectly in the client already- this is about our strategy to increase market adoption of those services.

Over the coming weeks we will be looking to push the marketplace feature specifically. We already have a new website, forums and blog coming. The blog will be the new home for all major news updates, we will still post here but they will be links to the blog. the blog will be a clean space to find Syscoin's latest news.

In addition to the above we'll be creating a microsite dedicated to the Syscoin Marketplace service. The site will explain the advantages of using the Syscoin marketplace, it will have links to existing Syscoin Marketplaces, and it will have information on how to get started with your own Syscoin Marketplace. As part of this effort we are looking to hire a professional copywriter, web developer, and designer/illustrator to help expedite the creation of this site. The microsite will really target getting current merchants / possible sellers and focus on helping them understand the Syscoin value proposition and even get started with their own marketplace.

We'll also be contracting out several 'microexample' sites we are going to make open source which build on the Syscoin Marketplace API in different ways to serve as examples for developers. We are rewriting the documentation for Syscoin Marketplace APIs to be more accessible to developers and provide developer FAQs in a portal dedicated to helping devs get going with Syscoin as well.

Alongside all of this we want to update the QT wallet with real interfaces for accessing and browsing the marketplace. This includes interfaces for items you've bought, items you have for sale, purchasing items from web markets, and searching the entire blockchain for items for sale.

We are also working on new core features in parallel with all of this as outlined in our roadmap- specifically multisig encryption using native Syscoin keys. While that is going on the other parts of the team will be focused on ramping up this marketing effort around Syscoin Marketplace APIs.

Moolah has provided us with some operating funds to cover our pre-existing expenses but they still hold the majority of the presale fund, including the 250BTC of SYS purchased as early buy support put up by the team. We are asking for a clear statement on the distribution of the remainder of the fund by this weekend 9/7.

TL;DR;
- made mistakes at launch and held off marketing until network was stable
- know marketing is important but offering is complex, focusing on one feature at a time- marketplace first
- hiring outside help to assist in first real marketing effort around a feature. Looking for: Marketing Copywriter, Srs Web Developer CSS/HTML/JS/Node, Designer/Illustrator/Web Designer
- Moolah has still not released the full presale funds to us- we are asking that they clarify the situation with these funds by 9/7

Then you need to get on iRC and get things fixed
instead of posting here.
got to be something wrong on your end....the wallet works fine.

+1 We're in IRC to help, come swing by!

Just had a team call and will be posting more news here shortly. I want to make it clear we have a plan moving forward in terms of marketing and we have a very clear strategy in that regard- the first phase of which will be posted tonight.

Syscoin- unlike other coins- already has features completed (four of them- markets, aliases, certificates, and datastore) and working. This turns the "altcoin hype cycle" upside down. Unlike some coins we can't simply market a vaporware roadmap and hope that boosts price- we have actual features that we need to market, but in order to market them effectively we need to make sure they are presented in a consumable, and understandable way for those not involved in crypto.

If you are a merchant, moving your inventory to the blockchain can not only be a scary concept but also is entirely confusing. Why would a merchant move their inventory to the blockchain? There are a number of reasons and they need to be communicated clearly and concisely alongside working examples AND resources for developers AND live support from the team AND QT UI wallet functionality. All of this is part of our strategy and this is only around a single feature... we have 3 more already completed and MORE being developed.

Yes, as a team we could have done a better job of getting these materials ready by launch. We've learned our lessons from launch (more on that tonight too) and are now taking very measured steps. I'll post up later tonight with more details in regards to the first concentrated marketing effort we push forward with - Syscoin Marketplaces.

I need to add
# is there a full-time dev working on this project? for 1500 btc there should be at least one, because it still looks like some hobby coin full of
ambition but lack of improvement

yes but we need marketing around feature specific advantages. Not more dev (at the moment).

# i tried all wallet versions already but none of them worked on win8, and also my wallet got corrupted with nice bunch of coins, i'm still patient and try to not push and can wait for stable wallet version but this is already getting funny...no working wallet

Please contact us. No one else has reported such issues on the 0.1.4c wallet. Please PM or reach out to us on IRC, we're always around.

what date have you started to code the wallet? few months ago?

Well over 6months ago. Wallet and QT UI are 2 very different things, I think you're referring to QT here?
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 02, 2014, 04:17:02 PM
You repeatedly posting the same thing about PR

I haven't. I've been supporting you for a long time. Listen to your investors more. Done with you.

Syscoin is not some clone with a roadmap. Its a coin with completed features that yes- require proper marketing. This takes planning before barreling into and the community is well aware of the initial launch issues which we HAD to resolved before starting a real marketing effort. Why would we start a serious marketing effort when everything wasn't working correctly?

Now that things are all working 100% marketing will kick on very hard- but in a planned way. We can't just market this like other coins where we talk a lot about the features we are GOING to make- we need to do this entirely differently where we market and DEMO the features we already have. This takes planning and a different approach than other clone coins with vaporware roadmaps. Some presale buyers aren't comfortable waiting for this to be done right or feel that is the wrong way to go about things. We do listen to the majority voice of the community and this strategy is in line with their requests.

If people feel we are deleting posts that should remain we welcome you to start a new thread (or add to that other one that was started...) where your posts can be free from our deletions and won't bury actual news. You can even leave a link here and we won't remove it, but we won't continue to let this thread turn into a new version of the old thread. This is about features and plans- questions we have NOT already answered and we have answered the PR/Marketing questions several times.
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: September 02, 2014, 04:00:08 PM
I've seen that article before (the one you previously referenced) and it bases itself on opinion of the author as well as assumptions the author has made, which are not substantiated within the article or anywhere else that I can find.

Due to the above, I decided to withhold my reflex-reply out of courtesy to you and your point of view.

I am very familiar with Myriad (I like it very much), and read as many articles related to Myriad as I can find. I have also done my own due diligence in regard to merge mining.

The issue of merge mining in relation to the trend of coin prices can not be proven. Yet, one can observe that the price of most coins decreases during the months of July and especially August (use charts such as bitcoinwisdom and change the scaling to show a longer time-frame). It has been speculated that this is due to people cashing in to buy school supplies for their kids and pay tuitions for the college bound (among other things).

Also, since your pitch looks like you are spamming to promote a coin that has no relation to Sys, you shouldn't be surprised that you were overlooked.

Well I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed no one, especially one of the devs here, took any time to look at an innovative solution to the current imbalance of merge mining that I attempted to share with this community.

Well a Myriad dev came up with the idea, but that doesn't mean you have to use Myriad's platform to implement it. Especially if you have scrypt as the merge mined algorithm. That would allow any scrpyt coin to add hash to the Sys network.

While it is true that a correlation between price decrease and auxPoW can't be proven, it is true that that is the general perceptions which is just as important in terms of price. Price is largely based on perception.

Even if we remove the downward selling pressure argument from this discussion, multi-vPoW seems to me to be superior in terms of security and decentralization when compared to a mono AuxPoW blockchain. That alone seems to add value to Syscoin.

Anyway, I apologize for coming off as spammy. That was not my intent. I'm only trying to help.

It is a valid enough point and I would not consider it spammy. We are open to any suggestions/ideas and it is something we will have a chat about.

Def not spam and a valid point. Will be reviewing this and thanks for some useful input.

I've held loyally for a long time and helped where possible, but I just sold... I'm not seeing anything that makes me think positively at all about the team. The tech's great, but the professionalism is purely nonexistent. Sorry guys, too much Sad

Yep and marketing that tech takes time and planning as we've stated multiple times is happening. No other coin has these problems because no other coins have real features to market like this. We are deleting posts that just continue to say the same thing over and over to which we're replied (over and over). People looking for real information have asked us to keep this thread clean and focused on what is going on and that is what we're doing. Your repeatedly posting the same thing about PR doesn't accomplish anything nor provide any more info to people looking for it- actually it does the opposite- burying my reply stating what we are doing in a litany of duplicate posts.

We have already clarified several times there are plans for focused PR and development campaigns around each service. We realize some people don't care about network instability but as a product team we do. Now that the network is stable, we can focus on the forward moving PR items. Please note I have said we are ramping up PR several times now and there will be more news on this tonight.
