Wow things have been crazy the past few days. We got listed on coinmarketcap.com ahead of relaunch which caused a surge in miners and then some naughty kittehs decided to attack our biggest pools in an attempt to lower difficulty and get many more MEOWs all for themselves. Tsk tsk. Thankfully the community (and the team) responded quickly and more pools have been stood up to further distribute the network and give miners multiple places to go.

As you may have heard we were shooting for a 1/27 relaunch but because there are coin-spec changes coming we wanted to be above board with the community and announce them FIRST before forking. This will lead to a hard fork in the KittehCoin codebase and we will be coordinating with the major pools to perform the upgrade so miners are minimally impacted. Solo miners will need to update their clients.

Here is a rough timeline for our relaunch, and what you can expect with the dates:

• 1/25-1/26 or thereabouts - Official posting on bitcointalk, twitter and other forums announcing the revised coin spec (keeps things above board and lets people mine on old spec for one more week before the fork)
• 1/31 - Internal pulse check with dev team to make sure we are on target with all services for 2/3 relaunch
• 2/3- Official relaunch, this may just be services and coin spec going into affect but we may have some new features too. We will also launch the paperwallet, block explorer, kittehdice, an iOS app, paperwallet, the final cleaned up wiki, and the new website on this date (maybe more services+games too, working with partners)- they'd all go live at the same time and be posted in the same announcement.

NEW COIN SPEC!!!

We will be changing the coin spec to improve the health of the coin, the blockchain, and repair damage done from the faltered initial launch. We are also doing this to avoid blockchain-bloat and other issues we've learned about from DOGE. Here is the new spec, this IS NOT YET IN EFFECT, will take effect 2/3/2014 with the relaunch.

Major spec changes include increased block time, reduced max coins, changed payout schedule to keep rewards proportional to the max coins reduction.

Coin Type: Scrypt
Block Target: 60 seconds (increased from 30s)
Difficulty Readjustments: 1 hours (unchanged)

Total: 25,000,000,000 coins. (reduced from 50B)

Special reward system: Random block rewards with a minimum 1,000 MEOW per block

Payout Schedule:
Blocks 1 — 200,000: 1,000 – 50,000 MEOW Reward
Blocks 200,001 — 400,000: 1,000 – 25,000 MEOW Reward
(schedule halving occurs here, note block distance change in reward schedule is every 100k blk down from 200k)
Blocks 400,001 — 500,000: 1,000 – 12,500 MEOW Reward
Blocks 500,001 — 600,000: 1,000 – 6,250 MEOW Reward
Blocks 600,001 — 700,000: 1,000 – 3,125 MEOW Reward
Blocks 700,001 — 800,000: 1,000 – 1,561 MEOW Reward
Blocks 800,001+ — 2,000 Reward (flat)

Total Block per day: 1440.

The KittehCoin code has NOT BEEN FORKED.

Please stop spreading misinformation.

Would love to see KittehCoin / MEOW added to the multi-wallet. If the code is on GitHub somewhere I can add it myself and submit a pull request. This is an excellent idea!!

You can mine KittehCoin right now, its been open for mining since the initial launch in December. There was no premine. How many times do we need to reiterate that?

I really do appreciate everyone's support and patience as we make sure this relaunch is solid not just service-wise but also having a solid new client that is secure and well tested with these new features we're working on. We are working on offloading more of the social tasks (these forum posts, twitter, facebook, contests, etc) to other members of the devteam so that I can focus on coding. You may not here from me for a day or two but I'll be lurking. I'll chime in if someone is posting misinformation of course, as I always do

I know that pushing the date isn't preferable but its much better than launching new features that are not stable, we want to make sure your MEOW iz always safe, so that is what we're going to do.

Also, to keep things above-board we will be posting the new coin spec as soon as it is finalized and BEFORE relaunch. Use whatever extra time you have to mine on the old spec while its still handing out those (random) big rewards!

We are really pushing for this coming Monday 1/27 but that is not 100%, might be one more week. I will post an update Saturday with more specifics as I'll have a better idea of where we are at with things at that time. We want to make sure we do this right. We have almost all the core stuff in place and are working on implementing a major innovation in the 0.8.6 client prior to relaunch. I'll be working on this feature more Friday (busy with ancillary services and support today, and research tomorrow). So based on how things go Friday I will post Saturday letting everyone know how things are going and what to expect.

Also, once the final revised coin-spec is approved by the team I will post it as a new announcement, trying to be as open as possible with what is coming in the relaunch. To be honest I need to spend more time coding and less time replying to all these forum posts but I don't want people to think anything shady is going on or that I've "vanished". So I've been replying to posts for the last hour...

^^^^ This is 100% accurate. We have not relaunched yet but are hard at work on it. I'm going to reiterate that the COIN PARAMETERS WILL CHANGE WITH RELAUNCH. We have almost all the details worked out and I will post the updated coin spec PRIOR to relaunch just to be completely, 100% upfront with everyone. This spec-change has been called out multiple times everywhere I can think of just to be as upfront as possible. These changes are needed to ensure the long term health of the coin+blockchain; if you run the current numbers you'd find they are out of whack and it would take ~30yrs to mine all the MEOW available.

As jurassicfrog mentioned we are trying to be as above-board as possible. No one on the dev team is being paid (not even in MEOW), everyone is doing this voluntarily and there is/was no premine. My advice is mine/buy now before the spec change and don't sell!  There are also new, unique features coming with the relaunch; more info on that coming as soon as I'm 100% sure they will be ready for relaunch.

Working hard on this rightnow! Setting up an online wallet service, new official pool, and working on the new wallet (0.8.6). That's just what I'm working on, we got a whole team of developers working on stuff! Good things come to those who wait, for real! Gotta get back to work meow :3

Just tentative at the moment, we are aiming for 1/27 thereabouts. There is one particular large feature we have almost completed that we'd like to have for relaunch. Want to make sure it is solid before letting it out there in the wild of course. Would make KittehCoin the first scrypt coin with this capability.
