**Update

 Roll Eyes

Are you being sarcastic like the CRAVE dev was?

Yeah you really need to clarify- sarcasm doesn't come thru when posting text messages, and incites panic instead. Please clarify.  Roll Eyes Huh

and another possible addition, if user prefer to build their own interface, the syscoin marketplace can be use to manage inventory system for sales company/retail, for example a retail chain store can connect their Point of sales on each store to the blockmarket for all or some of their specific inventory, and because it decentralized all the inventory can be access from anywhere or from any store without costly central server and it maintenance, it will always be auto update on real time mode, easy to backup, easy and faster to restore if there's problem in any store. All build with proven security feature of Blockchain technology.

This flexibility advantage from syscoin feature is something that still unavailable from any competitors "decentralized" marketplace out there, as a possible future user of decentralized market,  i'm not ruling out any advantage offer from any coin as there's some with interesting promise feature but will closely watch, try out and compare each before deciding which one is the best.

Then it's only a matter of calculation on how much cost saving for any company if they migrate from traditional PoS and inventory system to adopt sys blockmarket technology.

+1 ... I know @mauriek from Slack and his summation of the benefits of the SYS decentralized marketplace implementation are very well stated. We're making excellent progress on some MAJOR changes (for the best) to beta3.1/beta4, things with our mystery partner are also moving along perfectly and we'll make the details public when they are ready (SOON).

In the meantime sit tight, we'll have Blockmarket 1.5.2 b3.1 up ASAP!

will crycoin use that cravecoin technology?

Bump for an answer from the dev  Cool
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: April 01, 2015, 10:20:25 PM
is the market empty or am I missing something?

I get "No active items found"

same question here. last time there was a usb and a mug.
is it already sold out? i saw only 13 were available

It'll be repopulated shortly with the same items, it's beta so were still working on a few things will let you know once items are back in place.

Yep just a quick followup- we're working on resolving a beta issue with the cakenet that the marketplace (syscoin.market) is running on right now. As soon as we have the issue resolved we will be releasing NEW binaries (1.5.3 beta 3.1). For the time being please hold off testing/ordering, we'll post as soon as the issues are resolved we're working very hard on the fix.

If you ordered your item before the beta3 bug cropped up don't worry it'll be shipped to you- we captured the orders prior to the bug Smiley

1.5.2 is beta, so things like this are expected. We're working diligently to get this resolved properly as soon as possible. Updates to follow- also as a convenience the new binaries will be locked to the cakenet so you won't need to worry about modifying your syscoin.conf, and the next beta wallet will ONLY connect to cakenet in this next iteration which will be published as soon as the issue is resolved. You can of course still use the existing 1.5.1 wallet to access your real SYS / the main network.

Lol, do you think I would write here if I have received my coins?
Ok, I just shouldn't do anything having such health problems because it alway lead to some errors/ problems  Sad

Pozmu, again I feel for your situation, I too(and a couple of other members of the team) have experienced health issues in result of the mess that Moolah created, we have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars of our own $ in this legal battle, but again, we are not responsible for this theft, if we could get everyone's money back it would be our pleasure to distribute it, alas, that's not how the legal system works, you like every other victim need to follow the appropriate measures according to the law.

Well stated. If you'd grabbed your private key (in email from Moolah) within a few weeks of launch you would've gotten your coins. All presale investors got their SYS via emailed private key direct from Moolah (minus a very few people who didn't import their key for months due to external issues) and those keys worked fine up until the scammer behind Moolah up n ran with the funds.

...The SYS team was robbed of 750BTC. 750BTC worth of SYS that was released to investors.

We're not dwelling on the past although we ARE pursuing the matter legally. We're pushing forward with SYS dev.

SYS has too much potential to let one jackass mess it up (the scammer behind Moolah).

Did you "Email dan@syscoin.org with a signed message from your Syscoin wallet and your address for verification on the blockchain." ?

@seb1234 hit the nail on the head, for legal reasons we need proof you're a SYS investor (that you hold >=1 SYS) before we can show any docs (as they are very pertinent to investors).

If you send me (dan@syscoin.org) a signed message from your SYS wallet including your address (which I'll check on the block explorer). I'll happily send you a password to the page to access the legal docs  Smiley We'd love to make them more accessible, but must abide by UK procedures as well.

sorry for the noob question but how can i send a signed message from my sys wallet?

Open the wallet >> file > sign a message.
Write the message and the address you want to sign and generate the signature.
Then provide the signature + address to them.

Sent! Smiley

Development Update

After some uncertainty on the cakenet (hey, tis beta  Wink ) I'm happy to announce the cakenet has been working properly (for >48hrs) and the team has created a large number of nodes for better control / fork prevention.

Before connecting, please DELETE your existing cakenet data which can be found in the Syscoin data directory under the /cakenet folder (delete all files please).

Please feel free to join the cakenet and purchase items from http://syscoin.market - WE ARE DOING A GIVEAWAY, PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR REAL INFORMATION IN THE BUYER FORM (use PGP for privacy)!!

Remember you MUST be on the cakenet in order to participate in the promo, meaning using the syscoin.conf code below and you'll have a cakenet tSYS address starting with a "T" this is how you know you're on the cakenet. The team is happy to provide test SYS provided a tSYS address or a cakenet alias to send to.

Please feel free to exercise all the services on cakenet (marketplace, aliases, certificates, data) to ensure everything is solid "at scale"- if there are bugs, we want to expose them and fix them, so bang on it!!

I have updated the cakenet nodes "snippet" on pastebin in the blog post (re: beta3), for those too lazy to click over that way, here they are (these are all team-controlled nodes, this should be the entire contents of your syscoin.conf):

Code:
addnode=69.243.100.119
addnode=162.243.88.169
addnode=107.170.119.95
addnode=107.170.185.5
addnode=104.131.228.46
addnode=162.243.78.145
addnode=107.170.42.233
addnode=162.243.72.127
addnode=162.243.0.9
addnode=162.243.73.114
cakenet=1

Connect up, tweet about the market, get free tSYS (or mine it) and purchase something from http://syscoin.market before all the promotional items are sold out!

And- YES the "FFA Market" aka the "Free for All Market" which allows anyone to "play with" the merchant section of Blockmarket and see the improvements for merchants in terms of ease of adding, editing and managing orders. The FFA market should be up within 48hrs now that the cakenet has stabilized.

Things are looking very good- make sure you checkout our updated roadmap!!
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: March 28, 2015, 07:54:51 PM
Will the blockmarket have seller/buyer rating feature?

Remember blockmarket will be open source, so devs are free to add their own ratings system on top of it, off chain. If they submit a pull request we'll happily integrate this into the core Blockmarket code after we review.

We do have plans for on-chain buyer/seller ratings which will be derived from escrow results once we've implemented the escrow feature shown on the roadmap. Basically buyers who close open escrows promptly because the merchant did their part will get improved ratings. Merchants or buyers who act in bad faith, don't ship items or fail to "close" the escrow loop will get lower ratings. It's all implicit based on the results of the merchant actually delivering and the buyer confirming that fact. The system is still being designed but tl;dr answer is YES soon at the daemon/blockchain level and possibly sooner once Blockmarket is open source and devs are able to expand upon it.

UPDATE: The new cakenet is up and running and with the help of the community we have the beta3 chain running smoothly. To connect please close wallet, delete any old cakenet data files, use the config in the beta3 blog post and you'll be set to go! You will be reset- 0 tSYS.

TO SHOW HOW BLOCKMARKET WORKS, WE'RE SELLING REAL ITEMS FOR tSYS (fake/test Sys on the cakenet chain).
LIMITED QUANTITIES OF MUGS AND USBs AVAILABLE!

Visit the Syscoin Team Blockmarket Beta3- Powered by the Syscoin Blockchain

Remember to USE PGP if you want your address to be private. The public key is on the buy form.

If you need test SYS (tSYS) tweet @Syscoin:

a: "I need tSYS to buy [item] on #Blockmarket beta3! #decentralizedmarkets $SYS" - replace [item] with any item you'd like to see on Syscoin's decentralized market!

or

b: "Help $SYS test their working decentralized market at http://syscoin.market! #blockmarket"

You'll get a reward of 500 tSYS per tweet!* The contest is limited to 100k tSYS and first to tweet is first to get the tSYS.

Just to be safe we're rebuilding the cakenet chain- it'll take a while (overnight) until its long enough to be "the" leading cakenet chain as the current chain is 57k blocks. Once we've established the longest chain we'll switch syscoin.market over to that chain and we'll happily reimburse anyone who loses tSYS (cakenet SYS) in the cutover process. After the new chain is ready you'll need to delete your chain data (and cakenet wallet.dat, sorry). And then restart the beta 3 wallet. If you are mining on the current cakenet, we'd appreciate if you stopped so that we can get the NEW chain up sooner, you can resume mining on the new chain!

Sorry for the mixup, just want to make sure this is being properly used in beta form- for now continue with beta3 as is, if you have syncing issues or blockchain (cakenet blockchain) corrupt issues don't worry, they'll be solved tomorrow. Make sure you delete the beta2 client! Grin

If you purchased any of the USB sticks from http://syscoin.market during this lil mixup have no fear! Your purchase will be honored. We're going to copy all those purchases from the "old" chain and make sure they are properly shipped before reposting the USB item on the new chain.

^^ If you find the above overly technical... the simple version is to ensure proper testing results from public beta we're creating a new cakenet chain, it'll be ready tomorrow. You'll need to delete your current cakenet data (and wallet) and then resync the beta3 wallet with the new chain. Delete the beta2 wallet- it cannot be used with the new chain. Will keep the community posted!

The cakenet is a decentralized network just like the mainnet, and (as we discovered today) there are still numerous people connecting to cakenet with beta2 wallets which contain/can produce blocks (when a specific combination of services are used, which we identified today) that the beta3 wallet refuses mine due to some rule changes made between beta2 and beta3. Once we have the chain ready we'll make sure we have several nodes available for you to connect to, all running the beta3 wallet.

Thanks for your patience in all this! Paving new ground ain't easy but we respond quickly Cool
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: March 26, 2015, 10:17:52 PM
Thanks again everyone for the awesome support- we noticed a small issue between beta2 and beta3 today and because of the chain-state of beta2 we may need to recreate the chain using beta3 clients (this DOES NOT impact mainnet). If you close your Syscoin QT 1.5.2b3 wallet and upon reopening get a "blockchain corrupt, rebuild now?" message please post here. That is an indicator that a parameter change between beta2 -> beta3 created a situation where there may be old beta2 clients running and creating blocks that are not valid per the new beta3 client causing them to call out of sync.

If you experience this error, please contact us via Slack/IRC or BCT PM ASAP and we'll coordinate cleaning the test chain. Please make sure to stop using any beta2 clients ASAP. If you are running the beta2 client on a VM somewhere, please stop it and rebuild the beta3 client from the GitHub repository tag 0.1.5.2b3. Thank you.

We have also posted this information to our blog  Wink

was this coin an ICO or by any chance have a premine for the devs? maybe you can use a little of that funds for better PR
sorry but i really believe this coin should be above 1k sats  it has a beta market place already. i just dont know if the security of sys can be compared to sdc. so surely this must be AT LEAST 500sat with the beta market if this coin had better marketing and PR.

Yes and no. We were robbed, we're pursuing the funds via legal action. That said we do have the premine, untouched which we will start using to pay devs (internal or external) once Blockmarket v0.1 and Syscoin QT 1.5.2 are officially released, and continued development and marketing will be supported using this fund. We have a separate fund for bounties with a few million SYS in it as well (~3mil).

Once we reach the end of the legal battle (it will take a while) we will have additional funding assuming a favorable outcome for us (the evidence is very strong) but at the moment, our operating fund is purely the 40mil SYS held in the dev wallet. As you suggested, this will be used for marketing and for development but we don't need to "dump SYS" to pay for marketing, we just need to revamp our marketing strategy a bit - which is in the works, the marketing team is having a call Friday to discuss now that this pretty-fully-functional beta of Blockmarket is live in the wild Wink

The last thing we want to do is pay "promoters" millions of SYS when its at this undervalued price just for them to dump it and forever hold the price down. Instead we'll invest in the team, development, and our internal marketing expertise (we do have it! Just need a strategy) and pay internally since the team knows where this coin is going, and won't be dumping like some third party promoter would (or would be more likely to as they don't know the internal plans we have going on).

If there are marketing opportunities that do cost money, that are worth it - of course we're willing to spend some money out of our own pocket, but paying something 0.5btc or more to post tweets for a week is not a solid investment. We've tried that. Would rather use the dev premine to incentivize the marketing team when paired with a solid strategy to reach out to journalists, manage the social media channels, and also hang around Slack/BCT and reply to people to keep the conversation going. You can already see our social media strategy has improved immensely in the past weeks, that's just the start.

These are great suggestions and ideas, please keep them coming Smiley

Edit2:  By the way...  is the Accept Offer window supposed to appear in the browser like in the video?...  I had to switch to the client window (where it had appeared) in order to accept...  Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1.

I think it is OS-dependent and we can't control that portion of it. On Mac, as you saw in the video it does seem to bring "focus" to the accept window even if the wallet is in the background, on Windows [7] it sounds like the behavior is different. And knowing Windows, i wouldn't be surprised if there are additional variants in XP/Vista/etc. Users, let us know! Smiley

PGP Public key has been added to Blockmarket Beta3 so you can secure your data! It's exposed within the "Buy Now" window, click any of the PGP/Encrypt links to open a new tab with the PGP public key.

Thanks @mauriek from Slack for the excellent suggestion. Please note PGP encryption will be native (built in) to Blockmarket in the final release.

I have a 'feeling' Syscoin is ahead here... but I agree... that marketing they have ( and notice in articles like that one ) we don't have.... so perhaps, besides smart Devs, Syscoin needs a marketing guru to step in....

I have a 'feeling' Syscoin is ahead here... but I agree... that marketing they have ( and notice in articles like that one ) we don't have.... so perhaps, besides smart Devs, Syscoin needs a marketing guru to step in....

We're very aware of this but also that we need to make sure our offering / distinction from SDC is clear when we put out those marketing materials. SDC does NOT store offers on the blockchain, you have to have your node up and running at all times to sell your goods. SYS stores offers on the chain, so long as ANY Syscoin node is up, your items can be purchased. MAJOR DIFFERENCE.

Also, because SYS offers are backed by the chain they are also more secure in that they are harder to fake, forge, etc. There are other advantages to using SYS that I can't disclose yet due to ongoing partnership discussions but you're right- we do need to step up marketing now that "the race is on" but I still feel our tech is well ahead of the competition (decentralized-market wise).

I'm working on rolling out the Blockmarket Beta3 web UI right now, give me a few hrs and I'll have it and the blog post about it up Smiley

Also something to point out is that SDC is clearly targeting the 1% of the global market that wants to use their platform for (lets be honest)- "Darknet" purchases. While the SYS team makes no stipulations on what you can and can't sell on the SYS blockchain, nor do we have any control over it- we are really thinking and targeting SYS towards more mainstream use cases (the 99%)- thus integrations with Magento, Press2Shop, etc. Challenging eBay and Craigslist. Acting as a redundancy mechanism for mainstream merchants like Amazon- we WILL be approaching these parties when the time is right. These are the type of players you approach once you have a complete and holistic offering which Blockmarket is evolving into being along with the syscoin-api already publicly available in our GitHub repo.

While it is inevitable that SYS will probably materialize in a DNM fashion in one form or another [first], that's not our main target. That being said, the flexibility the SYS decentralized market implementation offers through public, private, and curated markets is another value-add that the competition's implementation does not support. We're watching the competition closely; SDC has good marketing, but I think other competitors that store their offers on-chain are a much bigger threat... and there aren't that many of them out there Wink

We'll be reaching out to journos very soon now that beta 3 is more tightly integrated with the wallet, sorry but to me that motherboard article read like a paid plug piece for SDC. Good marketing for sure though! We're taking note, the value of marketing like that is not lost on us  Wink
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Syscoin - Business on the Blockchain on: March 25, 2015, 05:32:30 AM
sorry but how can i run it on testnet? sorry noob here.
maybe you can put up a simple guide thanks!

No worries- and yes will definitely post a mini-guide in the blog post as well as a video of what you "should" experience when using the blockmarket beta 3 web UI with the Syscoin 1.5.2 beta3 QT wallet. We don't have any nodes on the testnet running ourself atm (because we were using them for testing in a controlled environment) but you should be able to connect to other nodes on the testnet.

Quick guide before a more in-depth one is up tomorrow:
1. Close your wallet.
2. Rename rename your syscoin.conf file to syscoin.conf.real
3. Create a new textfile called syscoin.conf, make its contents:
Code:
addnode=104.131.228.46
addnode=128.199.43.239
cakenet=1
4. Save and close, open up the beta3 wallet and wait for it to sync with those nodes Smiley

Please remember that the above method will force your normal wallet to run in testnet mode all the time, to switch back to the "main net" just close the wallet, rename the new syscoin.conf -> syscoin.conf.test and change syscoin.conf.real -> syscoin.conf and then relaunch the wallet.

Hope that helps! More detailed info tomorrow, and the UK side of the team should be awake soon and can help you out in Slack if you have further questions or issues getting up and connected to the testnet. We'll add additional nodes to the testnet tomorrow as well and post their IPs Smiley

*Note: What we refer to as "testnet" is actually cakenet- a special subnetwork similar to a testnet within Syscoin which allows for faster mining, coin maturity and testing. We use cakenet rather than testnet because of the increased testing speed (there IS a Syscoin testnet- which is less utilized). You can verify your on cakenet as your address will start with a "T" and running "getinfo" from the console will show cakenet: true, testnet: false (along with the other output from that command).

We will have the Blockmarket beta3 web interfaces up tomorrow night as well as a blog post- spent extra time tonight making sure that beta3 wasn't introducing forks and it passed all the tests I could throw at it with flying colors. The web side of things will be updated tomorrow and this includes the Free-For-All market which is currently down until it gets the beta3 update.

Stay tuned! So much going on behind the scenes  Lips sealed

Hey Syscoin Community,

Please join us in getting Syscoin traded on CEX.IO! All you need to do is post a quick comment saying that you would like Syscoin to be there on the following thread!:

https://support.cex.io/hc/communities/public/questions/203280507-Please-add-Syscoin-A-revolutionary-cryptocurrency-that-fights-for-justice-

+100!

Also- I'm working on getting these beta3 clients together right now; Please be aware we do expect their to be some quirks and "doesn't work for me" in regards to how we've implemented URIs to make the SYS decentralized market purchase flow more user-friendly. Because URI handling is very operating-system specific we'll have fields for you to easily copy/paste the data into the Syscoin wallet if for some reason the URIs aren't working in your environment (this will all be in a blog post; tonight or tomm).

If you find the URIs (magic lil things that allow us to send commands to your local syscoin wallet from a website [blockmarket] using the syscoin:// protocol) do not work for you, please post in the thread we'll create and let us know your exact environment so we can try to address it for as many environments as possible.  Smiley

It seems all is well with the beta3 wallet after additional testing today! Expect public release tomorrow night USA/PST and updated Blockmarket web interfaces and updates.

Also we've rebooted the DNS seeder (syscoinseed.tk) so you should be able to sync without individual addnodes but they never hurt as a backup! More tomorrow!

addnode=64.121.9.200:8369

Awesome - thanks for this. Maybe we can update the OP?

Thanks for helping out Smiley will def update OP asap and I've got the networking guys looking into our DNS seeder... You shouldn't even need to addnode like this. We'll have this resolved ASAP and will update OP with these nodes in the meantime.

Trying to tie off beta3 proper tonight. Coderboo, Sidhujag and I are going to review the commits and double triple check beta2 & beta3 clients playing nice with each other, then roll it out!
