401  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 08, 2020, 02:46:20 PM
We are still early

Jack Dorsey has always been a flag-bearer of bitcoin. So it would still be early to consider that buying bitcoin as reserve is becoming a corporate trend. Morever, he said that purchasing bitcoin was in-line with the company's purpose. Are we going to see Square - Crypto Wallet soon?
402  Economy / Gambling / Re: #4 Bitcointalk Poker Series @ SwC Poker (0.06 BTC, BIG BTC Ticket by SwC) on: October 06, 2020, 05:16:02 PM
I want to take a moment and appreciate SwC. I sent them mail on Sunday to upgrade my seal to 'Floundering' from 'Baby' so I can chat on the table. I also mentioned that I am ready to pay for the upgrade.

To my surprise, 60 krills were added to my account when I opened SwC today. I already had 440 krills so now I have 500 and can chat on the tables. Smiley Also, SwC charged nothing for it. I really appreciate the gesture. Hope this series continue forever and I am inclined to join it as long as it runs. I also see 2-3 interested members who wanna get in as regulars. So I predict the number will grow to 20 if we gonna see the #5th rolling in.

...downtrend in the gold price chart? It is just a small correction.

RIGHT, I have to admit it, looking at the gold chart as a whole, this is only a small correction, no doubt about that.

The lower the time frames on chart - the bigger the correction, but still not a trend, my bad  Wink

A perfect example of price discussion between bear and bull  Wink Cheesy

Don't know if price speculation is allowed here or not but I would like to give my views on the price too.

I have huge interest in investment market and study assets likes gold daily. As per my prediction, gold prices are still in uptrend. In short run, prices will peak on 15th-16th October then after little correction and few months of stable market, gold prices will surge magnificently from April 2021 and will reach All-time-high in September 2021.

However, this is my personal prediction. Please don't consider it as investment advise. Do your due diligence before investing in assets like gold. But if you make mind to buy gold, DIGITAL GOLD is best place to get on-board as it offers blockchain-based token equivalent to real gold which can be bought with BTC/ETH. Wink

And it happened again. I always prefer Barca game above anything else and it was second week in a row that Barcelona game clashed with our poker tourney. Both time, game was scheduled 2 hours after poker started. So I had the strategy to play aggressively for first two hours, stake enough chips and then sitout to end somewhere around 6-7th position. However, both times I failed to stack big pile. Hence, I played do/die hands at the start of 3rd hour and eventually lost.

Now I have slimmest of the chance to qualify for the final but I am going to give everything next Sunday. Beware everyone! I am surely winning the next qualifier. But the bad thing is that Barcelona again has the fixture that will clash with the 8th qualifier. Timings are not out yet but I hope that match would end before the poker starts.

PS: I went all-in against SteamTyme (if I remember correctly) with 55 against KQ after flop. King was already dealt on the table along with the pair of sixes. I knew that hand, played with same hole and flop cards before and I was sure another 5 gonna dealt on the river and that so happened. I didn't check SwC's RNG yet but it may be possible that combination of cards repeat. It may be mere co-incidence but I will have a look into that.

After 4 awful rounds, finally I am in for the delight! Yeah! I am the Yellow Cap contender for this round. One game left and I calculated all the odds. There are only two possibilities in which I will end second:

If Liverpool wins 4-0, then tomahawk9 will end 1.5 points above me.
If match ends in 1-1, then casperBGD  and I will end in same points but he will get first spot for more correct predictions.

In every other circumstances, I am taking home the yellow cap for the weekend. Dr. Strange help me!

@webtricks
I was again watching with one eye while doing other things but have a feeling Griezmann will be biggest Barca problem this season. There was that great counter attack when De Jong found him with beautiful pass the ball just bounced from him like I am watching somebody from Croatian 2nd league and not one of the best players in the world. After defender got red card, Koeman decided to sub Griezmann before all other players on the pitch which is also telling something. His confidence must be on very low levels, hope he will bounce back.

After first game, I was supportive for Grizzi's contribution due of his defensive display but yeah, yesterday he was impact-less. Roberto was top-notch and able to get back and hold his position for most of the game and was equally sharp in attack as well. So Griezmann didn't has much say in defense as well as attack yesterday. Moreover, that awful first touch to De Jong's mouth-watering ball was pain in the eye to watch. So I agree with you that he can be snubbed off in upcoming fixtures.

However, I don't think Griezmann will be big problem for Barca because he's not essential element of Barca formation. He's already playing off-position and we already have Trincao and Dembele as the perfect substitutions to his position. So the only one in harm is Griezmann himself. If he won't perform, manager will replace him with other world-class wingers. As simple as that.

PS: Congo for the yellow cap. It was tight week in the points table.

I just finished making the picks for this weekend and this one is going to be the first challenge for the pool. So many close and uncertain fixtures this time unlike last 2-3 matchdays. I made draw predictions for couple of them and so many more interesting picks. This week can be a big gamble for me. It can be 15+ points or 5 > points. Excited!
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: September 30, 2020, 06:30:16 PM
I've just read that another stablecoin you see as competition "expanded" to also work on another new blockchain.
Of course, one cause is the big fees on Ethereum blockchain. I see it also as extra advertising.
Clearly, I don't know how difficult this is to be implemented, but now there are plenty of blockchains where tokens and smart contracts work.
I'd love to see GOLD also on WAVES chain for example.

And what benefit would the project actually gain by running on various blockchains?

It is understandable for projects like USDT to have multi-chain support because stable dollar coins are used as base currency on crypto exchange and required frequently by users for trading purposes. Hence, the more network these coins are on, better and cheaper it would be for the users.

But GOLD is primarily an investment coin. I don't think $1-2.5 fees would be considerable factor for anyone looking to invest in gold for notable period. Moreover, Ethereum is biggest and most secure Smart Contracts supporting blockchain. Shifting to the other blockchain will just open gate to other vulnerabilities.

I would recommend to keep projects like DIGITAL GOLD on single and most secure blockchain i.e. Ethereum (apart from Bitcoin).
409  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk Community Awards - Discussion on: September 30, 2020, 03:34:43 PM
I read about this thread in Discord group. It is a nice idea and looking forward to vote for the nominees as soon as it's up!

~snip~

Do you mean you will create 20 threads, one for each award and then use preferential-voting method to short list the candidates? 20 threads in my opinion will be too much mess. One thread is fine for voting. You can provide options for all 20 awards in single template inside code tags so the height of the replies will be limited to 20 lines even though the actual length of reply is more than 20 lines.

Or you could just create a separate thread for users to post their votes, as was done here. Why make things more complicated than they need to be?

Wow! Didn't know Lauda had so much repo back in those days. 48 votes and second position for the spot of Mod, not bad!
410  Local / India / Re: People pay your Taxes - 2.0 on: September 30, 2020, 01:42:23 PM
Do you know any online CA's that are reputed and can help one file a return? I would try cleartax but I still think that it requires a bit of information and don't want to end up doing something which I later regret. Also, what nature of business does freelancing comes under if you were to file your return using 44ADA? Do you think '16019 – Other professional services n.e.c.' would be okay?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes! 'Other professional services' sounds fine if you are filing under the section 44ADA. But few days ago, me and teosanru were having discussion on this topic. Although most of the CAs suggest to go for 44ADA but thinking from pure technical view, 44AD is more appropriate. 44AD unlike 44ADA, is a general presumptive income scheme and covers all type of businesses. I have few clients who receive crypto incomes. I have scheduled the filing of their income tax returns in October. So, I will once again study everything in deep next month and try to figure out best possible way to report crypto income and then update the details in this thread as well.

As far as nature of business is concerned, the following two are most appropriate depending upon which type of income forms bigger part of your total income:
Engineering and technical consultancy - 16005
Other Software consultancy - 14002

Considering that I got a spoon in Round 1, I'm happy with the current leaderboard of Round 2 Smiley Sahyadri jumped up 10 spots, me and webtricks jumped 8  Grin

This year's IPL is going crazy so far! Every team is capable of beating the other, there is no clear winner. I think it will still take 1-2 more rounds for everyone to get more accurate in picks. First round was awful for most of us! 1 point only, lol. Even though we jumped 8-8 spots but still we are leading by only 2 points from the last position. One good match for last position holders and they can go pass us like flash. Cheesy

As expected, a majority of the users have gone for Rajasthan today. Me and JSRAW are among the few who went in favor of KKR. One factor that made me go in KKR favor was the excellent record that Sunil Narine is having against Samson/Smith. In the previous editions, Samson struggled against the spin of Narine. Also, Pat Cummins seems to have regained his form. BTW, the RR bowling is a joke (apart from Archer).

Pat Cummins was spectacular vs Sunrisers in last game but Abu Dhabi's pitch is heaven for bowlers. I doubt Dubai's pitch would be that helpful for him and other KKR pacers. Nevertheless, it would surely be a tight game. Let's see who triumphs.
412  Local / Alt Coins (India) / Re: Anyone claimed UNI tokens? on: September 29, 2020, 07:12:23 PM
I totally agree with webtricks, however I'm a skeptic of long term view on this and believe it to be a passing fad mostly... Just like UCOs in 2017... DeFi is the buzzword... The high eth fees are a buzzkill btw... For however long this lasts make hay... Also take a look at projects on Binance SC... Might have some gems .

I agree with you, DeFi wave won't last very long because the concept itself is not completely foolproof. But Uniswap has been into the picture from long ago i.e. since November 2018. It has now grown to very extensive scale. Unlike basic DeFi model which is lending/borrowing, Uniswap is an exchange providing instant trading using liquidity pool model. Even if DeFi buzz gets over, crypto users will still need an exchange to sell ERC-20 tokens and that's where Uniswap's utility won't get over easily.
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Online Casinos on: September 29, 2020, 02:27:06 PM
Running crypto casino games directly on a blockchain seems more like a gimmick though.

I think some use bitcoins blockchain to determine a winner (or other cryptocurrency chains) - not as in the whole site is on a chain. But that might make for an interesting erc20 contract.

ETH chain has already crossed the viability zone for gambling contract. No one wanna use a platform which charges $2-5 for every bet made. Moreover, provably fair script already ensures that the results are not rigged, especially for multiplayer game like Crash where block hashes are used with pre-generated hashes to work out fairness. A complete contract on blockchain is bit overkill IMO.

Could be I have missed his defensive contributions yesterday. I was watching the game with one eye while doing other stuff on PC so it is easier to spot plays with the ball then runs, openings and helping the full backs. That additional layer of defense in Barca squad is crucial since Messi doesn't play defense and if he is doing that well that is already a lot. I actually liked Braithwithe last season just because he was doing so much more defensive running than Suarez and Messi. Barca squad needs that desperately.

Just one note for the end. If Koeman wanted somebody to play good defense, run a lot and help right back he could have gotten some other cheaper player then Griezmann Smiley But I agree with you, as long as he is doing good job in defense and opening space for other players we can wait for him, not like Barca desperately needs more creativity with Messi in the squad.

Frankly speaking, if Barca could sign some decent Right Back who can back track the pace of the opponent winger and stop the counter attacks then I prefer Trincao over Griezmann in the team. Trincao's style of play is much more Barca like than Grizzi's and he will surely have more impact than him on the game.

Wow! That's great man! Really, really great. I just loved it. Especially your expression when you got AA literally killed me, lol. Will surely join the live version of your stream next weekend. By the way, don't we get to know your cards in live stream or does it run with the delay of few minutes?

Not a good game for me. I was very busy yesterday and decided to sit out the game however, later joined it but still wasn't able to play to the full potential. My chances to make to the final table already looking slim but will try to get ITM in next two tourneys to get back into race. Congrats arallmuus on winning this one!
416  Local / Alt Coins (India) / Re: Anyone claimed UNI tokens? on: September 28, 2020, 06:19:44 PM
Even if the payouts are actually made, I don't think the coin rate will go up. Such news is permanent for the dynamics of the coin's growth rate. I think that the output will not be more than 5 - 10 dollars. Although this money is not just lying on the road Cool

UNI token is not a regular airdrop token. It is a governing token. It represents the ownership of the Uniswap platform. UNI holders can vote for various proposals on the platform thus making Uniswap more decentralized and self-sustainable platform. Moreover, 40% of the supply which is reserved for the team members, investors and advisors has 4-years vesting period which cannot be sold for the next 4 years. Also, the airdrop was distributed to over 50K ETH addresses making token less vulnerable to dump.

Although, I am not a big fan of airdrop tokens but Uniswap did the job smartly and tokens are surely worthy and will gain more price in coming months. Who doesn't wanna be the owner of the platform having over $2B worth of cryptocurrencies locked in?
417  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: defi exch trading vs normal exch trading on: September 28, 2020, 04:31:10 PM
Good point here to say is that many people forget that these so called Defi exchanges are actually DEXs,,, no different. And many Defi are actually centralized companies whose smart contracts are not even truly open source. Many people are investing without not knowing what is going on and trusting companies.

No different from exchange trading except the promise of self custody.

Well, actually there is a difference between how trading happens on centralized exchanges and DeFi Exchanges.

Centralized Exchanges are always order-book based. There is no other mechanism for those to work except buyers placing buy orders and sellers placing sell orders and market getting matched somewhere between the two.

However, DEX (currently popularly called DeFi Exchanges) can be of two types. One order-book based, like IDEX. But it's second type of exchanges i.e. Liquidity based which are getting high traction lately. In liquidity-based exchanges, liquidity providers deposit two different Ethereum tokens at specified price which creates market pair of the two and now buyers can buy any of the two by sending the other to the Smart Contract. The exchange rate of the market pair depends upon which of the two getting more buyers. Liquidity Providers in return share the fees on every purchase.
418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ BitcoinPRBuzz.com's ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 28, 2020, 03:56:04 PM
oops! i've overestimated Villareal and couldn't get a single point off this match. Congrats, @webtricks and @big_daddy, for winning the yellow cap (:

Thanks! It was another good week for me. As I claimed before the round, so thus I delivered. 8 out of 10 correct predictions! Only if I have been more serious in the first round, I would be leading with 30+ points by now.

It seems Barca came out with all guns blazing but I am still waiting for their first away game before accepting they will do good this season. I liked their game and they did better than I excepted or maybe it would be better to say that Villareal was very bad tonight. That Kubo guy did more for them after coming on around 75th minute then their whole team before that.

Few things about Barca I noticed and could be important going forward:
- Messi let Pjanic take a free kick so maybe he will be a bit more team player this season, we shall see. Or he lost some of gravitas in the dressing room, still captain though.
- Pique looked sharp and had great game, very important for Barca
- All the Barca kids looked good and hopefully we will see more of them
- Griezman was again terrible, don't know what is happening with him

Yeah! It was unexpected for me as well. Barca was surprisingly good, way better than my expectations. Special mention to Jordi Alba. Yesterday, he was looking way more fit and sharper than the entire last season. If he could deliver this kind of performance in every game then he is easily the best LB in the world. Better than Robertson and Davies anyday.

Pique had a good game. He was able to intercept and stop Villarreal's attacks at several occasions. Great defensive awareness from him. Pjanic was excellent. His minutes against Elche in friendly weren't so convincing last week but yesterday he simply showed why he's one of the best midfielder in just 30 minutes. His reading of the game, interceptions and forward balls are going to be very helpful for Barca throughout the season. I want him to replace Busquets as the starter.

I don't agree with you on Griezmann. Although, he was ordinary with the ball yesterday but his off-the-ball contribution was spectacular. First, he provided that additional layer of defense on the right side of the pitch. I saw him defending in the box many times which is uncommon for a forward (Simeone's effect). Second, his runs took 1-2 Villarreal defenders with him, thus creating space to attack for Fati, Messi and Coutinho. As a manager, I would be happy to start him provided he gives little extra in attack as well. Even, Koeman praised him after the game.

The only problem in team is Right-Back. Semedo is already delivered to Wolves thus leaving us only with Roberto as the option. Roberto is shit and we need to replace him as soon as possible. He is laggy in defense and if not for Griezmann, he would have conceded at least a goal. I heard many speculations on the name of Sergino Dest. It would be good to have young RB like him in the squad.
419  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain Gaming Drive Cryptocurrency Adoption? on: September 28, 2020, 02:44:37 PM
However, I really believe blockchain still has very big role to play in gambling industry. We are going to see new blockchain based superior gambling dApps in coming years which will disrupt crypto gambling completely by removing trust factor.

It won't really disrupt centralized gambling until full scalability is achieved. You can place hundreds of bets per second (and some people use it with official bots), without paying any fees in centralized gambling. And thanks to the provably fair system, exit scam is the only risk, which is pretty rare in crypto gambling.

Currently yes but I doubt the potential of blockchain will be limited to PoW. I am very positive that soon a newer algorithm will come into picture which could be used to secure blockchain as well as solve problem of scalability.

We already have algorithms like DPOS which are being used by networks like EOS and claim to process millions of transactions per second with no fees. Although, DPOS showed some signs of centralized system, it has open doors for others to come up with a similar system but comparatively more decentralised.
420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is House Edge and how it effects gambling on: September 27, 2020, 04:12:04 PM
~

The term is simple: House Edge is the difference between the probability of casino's win and player's win. If I say, house edge is 2% then the probability that result of the bet will in favour of house is 51% and that of player is 49%.

Let's take a simple example of Dice game. Suppose a dice game has a house edge of 2% then it will pay you 2.00x for rolling above 51 or below 49. Ideally, it should be 2x for rolling above 50 or below 50. But due to house edge factor, the probability of you winning the bet as a player falls from 50% to 49%.

Should it be the house has 52% of winning while the player has only 48% because the house has 2 percent edge? Correct me if I am wrong, but in my point of view it should be 52 by 48 or 16:13. I'm not that good in gambling and I just recently learned and tried executing gambling tips based on house edges and odds. Please excuse me if I am mistaken.

It will be 51/49, not 52/48. As I said house edge is the difference between the probability that house will win and the probability that player will win. So 2% house edge is 51 - 49 = 2.

You can also understand it like this - player will win 2.00x if he rolls between 51-100 or 1-49. That's 49 possibilities out of 100.

Have a look here, Primedice has 1% house edge so player will win if he rolls over 50.49 or below 49.50. So player's winning probability is 49.5. Hence, the house edge is 1% (50.5 - 49.5)
