Cool Cool Cool
Thanks for this project. I also made myself a card. I really liked

Glad you liked it. By the way, nice card! Wink

Trying to create my own card.

The title only shows up for numeric & alphabet word, i try to add a Japanese word from my personal text but it doesn't show up. I think add a preview at the bottom would be good, we can see the preview of the card before generating the card. Anyway, would you also add "Hat Generator" at the future like the WO family? I want to create my own hat since i can't do a photoshop its a bit hard for me created my personal hats xD.

It won't show Japanese because it's a custom font. Since I don't know Japanese, I cannot add Japanese characters, sorry. Smiley

I will see if preview could be added. Maybe possible with Javascript, will give it a try.

Umm..about hats, yeah that's possible too. But I think I shouldn't indulge in that out of homage to xhomerx10. Also it's kinda cult of hat among wall observer contributors so creating hat for every member wouldn't be appropriate and defy the purpose of hat altogether. Why not request xhomerx10, he might create one for you. Smiley

I would recommend you to create a topic dedicated to your project Wink

There is one already: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5202297.0

Literally, opened a thread about maybe getting a trading card game off the ground. If something like this could be created for physical cards then I think that would be pretty neat. The only issue with this is all the cards would have to be custom designed, and would need to avoid using copyrighted images.

Any plans on creating physical cards of these?

I have no plans to go for physical cards. Maybe someone else can decide to make these come alive. If anyone else can take initiative, I can provide all that required for making cards worth collectible - like more neat design, holographic design, etc.

Updates:
Update 1: 'Bitcoiner' has been replaced with 'Bitcointalker' on the suggestion of many members.

Update 2: Now you can add custom image on your card. Just click 'Custom Avatar' in Avatar section and paste your image url. The format of image can be PNG, JPEG or GIF.

Example for Update 2:

Waw, excellent, this is the kind of project I love !

Do you only use PHP to generate the images ? Do you think to make the project Opensource ?

For the fun, this is my card Tongue

~card image~

P.S : Unfortunately, I have no more merits to send you Undecided

Thank you !

Glad, you liked my work. Currently I am not sure how I wanna roll this project so I don't think it would be nice to make it open-source now. If I decides not to go further with this project then will make it open-source and hope you guys could take it to another level.  Wink
Yes, I purely use PHP for this project. No other server side language or library.

New Functionality Added to BTCTalk Cards

Now user can add any custom image of his/her own liking in the card as avatar. Use 'Custom Avatar' in the Avatar section and provide avatar URL. Format accepted: PNG, JPEG and GIF. Size: 120px * 80px.

Example:

1126  Other / Meta / Re: BTCTALK CARDS - The Real-time Custom Cards for Bitcointalk Members on: November 18, 2019, 05:54:10 AM
How to adjust the image to fit into my avatar?

I am afraid that's not possible. I can't dynamically change the size of image as per the size of avatar. It is impossible stuff to do.  Alternatively, you can change your avatar size to 120px*80px.

For now, the card will be created using currently worn avatar of one user. It means if I am wearing a signature of a company I advertise for, I am unable to create my card with my own avatar.
In additiona, there is a bit delay of avatar update. I tried to update with my own avatar just to create the card I want but it still using my previous avatar.

That's delay is from bitcointalk. It takes 30 minutes to show your new avatar on bitcointalk if one is wore already. No problem, I will create option to choose custom image as avatar shortly. But you have to enter URL - a valid URL to show avatar. Moreover, size of image should be 120px*80px. Just give me 2-3 hours since I just woke up and I will add this option shortly.

Quote
  • Add link to browse and load personal avatars when creating cards.

This I won't do. I don't wanna fill space on my disk. I will only allow option to choose avatar. So first upload image to imgur or imgbb and then paste that link to create avatar.

Quote
  • Smaller fonts for all texts, excludes: Star, Username, and Reputation.

Fonts are fine, aren't they? If some text goes out of box then tell me, I will fix that.

Quote
  • Using lower-case for all contents, not Capitalize all text like the current version

I am afraid uppercase is standard format for such cards. Believe me, lowercase will look horrible. It will look like some 4th grader trying to write cursive.
1127  Other / Meta / Re: BTCTALK CARDS - The Real-time Custom Cards for Bitcointalk Members on: November 18, 2019, 05:45:44 AM
Nice work!

How do you calculate the reputation score?

Posts/Activity is redundant.  Posts can be manipulated/spammed.  Activity is the better solution.  What about the trust score?

Yeah even I feel post count is wrong for the calculation since it has very wide range and hardly a link with reputation (see Quickseller). Will edit reputation code to give much less importance to posts.

You could use all three values as attributes in a card game.  Make each card a crypto asset.  I could provide the verified membership system and arena if you decide you want to go ahead with it.

Also, since these stats change over time, you could have the cards dynamic.
1: "Hey, want to buy Vod for 0.1 btc?"
2: "Maybe, but not this month - he lost the DT1 lottery and is weak.  I'll give you 0.05"

I already had thought over this and here is what I propose if we wanna go with game:

1. Restrict the cards to top 2000 members to make game reasonable.

2. Card identifier system. Once card is generated, an identifier will be printed on it which could be verified from 'card verification tool'. For example card with identifier gtjd-difi-4523-idfd when verified will give results like: This Vod Black Card was generated by user having member Id: 114505564721. This card belongs to the batch of December, 2019. The stats of card are as follow.... So even though I have the photo card but the real ownership of the card will lie with the member who generated it.

3. Card Trading House. This is the place where member can generate card, store it and trade it.

4. A monthly batch of cards rather than real-time. New stats will be updated on first of every month. So the card generated on 1st or 28th of the month will look same. This is to make game competitive.

5. PvP card game. A game where I can bet against another player. For example, I bet 0.001 with my Theymos Card and you matched my game and you entered the game with DarkStar_ Card. To make game interesting, one random card will be drawn for both side at that very moment (which will be purely random and provably-fair) and the average of both card will decide the winner. So having strong card will win only half of your game. Now suppose second card for me is Webtricks Basic Card and you get Lauda Golden Card then you will win on average even if my base card was strong.

6. To make cards valuable and scarce, a user can only generate 10 cards a month by paying card generation fees like 0.0005 BTC. The user will have equal chance of getting Theymos card or Webtricks card for that 0.0005 BTC. Once generated, the user can sale the same card in trading house for much-much high. For example, Theymos will have very high value (like 0.03-0.04 BTC) whereas Webtricks will hardly have (like 0.0005-0.00075 BTC value). So to play the game, user first have to own at least one base card which he can either generate randomly for 0.0005 BTC or buy any specific card from trading house for market price.

7. Once card is traded, the new identifier will be generated and old will expire. So if user with ID: 114505564721 sells his Vod card of December, 2019 batch to user with ID: 452152604521 then gtjd-difi-4523-idfd will show 'identifier expired, this card is sold' and user: 452152604521 will get new card with same stats but new identifier.

So this is my proposition. What do you say?

Also my big question - Who will play the game?

Do we have enough support from btctalk family that I go forward and spend next month developing above said? Will members here actually play and involve in this?
1128  Other / Meta / Re: BTCTALK CARDS - The Real-time Custom Cards for Bitcointalk Members on: November 18, 2019, 05:10:45 AM
The BFFs seem to be a very select group. Based on the largest Merit cycling I guess?

BFF is the person who gave you the maximum merits. I had one slot of stat empty so filled it with BFF at the last minute.  Cheesy

I like it! Summoning LoyceV to unleash that increased Merit source on you!

Wow! Sounds wonderful. Waiting for LoyceV army.

For trust ratings: if you feed your browser cookies to your scraper, you can get it from the forum directly.

Yeah. I tried that and it worked too. But won't it give retrospective results?

Are you trying to not-so-subtly imply that suchmoon is an alt of theymos?

Haha, I had no such intentions. Was just short of avatars.
1129  Other / Meta / Re: BTCTALK CARDS - The Real-time Custom Cards for Bitcointalk Members on: November 17, 2019, 09:50:09 PM
Note One: I use BPIP to get trust ratings. Currently trust ratings on BPIP are not accurate for most of the members so reputation score maybe uneven at the moment. I will try to resolve that or wait for BPIP to show correct data. Reputation Score is now working fine for every member

Update Log:
Code:
Update 1: 'Bitcoiner' has been replaced with 'Bitcointalker' on the suggestion of many members.

Update 2: Now you can add custom image on your card. Just click 'Custom Avatar' in Avatar section and paste your image url. The format of image can be PNG, JPEG or GIF.

Update 3: Font for digit '4' has been improvised.

Update 4: Reputation score has been fixed for all the members.

Update 5: BFF feature has been deprecated. Trust has been added in place.

On the occasion of 10th anniversary of the forum, I am pleased to present you all BTCTalk Cards. With BTCTalk Cards, you can generate your own very-custom cards in real-time. Just fill your Bitcointalk ID, choose your specifications and your card will be generated in the matter of seconds.

Some Examples:

BTC Address: 3G8uPe3XKGhyQ2HGZfrmT7yJSxeQ6kJHK4

I had this idea from the day Theymos announced 10th anniversary art contest. What could be better than a custom card for every Bitcointalk member! I see Basorexia made some beautiful cards on Page 38 but again problem with it is that, manually it could only be created for handful of the members and stats are outdated at very next instant. Therefore, I created a script with which a custom real-time card can be created by/for any member on the forum. Here is what I created:

  • 12 original card designs with multiple different avatars. More avatars will be added in future.
  • Three Card Types - Basic, Gold and Black. Black Card is most valuable and stats are 10% appreciated in Black card as compared to Basic Card. Whereas, Gold Card stats are 5% appreciated as compared to Basic Card.
  • Two original stats namely Popularity and Reputation.
  • Reputation is a integral value calculated on the basis of formula which takes into consideration: positive trust, negative trust, posts count, merit count and activity count. Higher the reputation score, more reputable the member is.
  • Popularity will be displayed on top left corner with star ratings beneath it. It is a percentile value and can be between 0-100. Since it's just popularity so I didn't take into consideration trust ratings for its calculation. Currently only two cards have 100 popularity - Black Lauda Card and Black philipma1957 Card.
  • I am also creating Anniversary Special Cards and it will be completed in 2 days. Will update here once finished.

Some Examples:

Note: I use BPIP to get trust ratings. Currently trust ratings on BPIP are not accurate for most of the members so reputation score maybe uneven at the moment. I will try to resolve that or wait for BPIP to show correct data.
1132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Doge magazine still meme on: November 16, 2019, 05:19:10 PM
What do we expect from a cryptocurrency? It should be anonymous, secure and provide full ownership, right? The reason why Bitcoin got that much attention in last 10 years is because it caters all these requirements. Well, Dogecoin caters these too. Not just that, it also solves some problem associated with Bitcoin such as scalability and deflationary nature.

Even though started as meme, Dogecoin has come so far and now considered as serious contender in altcoins market. Such magazines in my opinion will have positive impact on DOGE because that's what it is, a meme coin! This is what that makes Dogecoin special. A utility crypto coin with such a splendid history, what else you want from a cryptocurrency!
1133  Local / India / Re: Crypto Ban Draft Bill Excluded From Upcoming Parliament Session on: November 16, 2019, 02:00:50 PM
~~
They are already dictating what you eat and how you show respect and patriotism and the old hegemony is clearly visible in almost everything and that is happening in the bitcoin market as they could hold businesses from functioning and they do not care about the loss these companies are baring and the loss of jobs and they are not able to come up with some temporary law to protect these business shows the state of our internal affairs.

No, that would be highly chaotic if government does something like that. This would lead to clear conflict of interest. It's on the directions of RBI that businesses like Zebpay halted their operations. If government comes up with temporary law to overrule the decision of RBI then that may be assumed as dictatorial decision by everyone. RBI doesn't come under government and has its own statutory backing independent of government just like Supreme Court, SEBI, ICAI and other statutory bodies.

^^ This is the main reason why Supreme Court is delaying the verdict too. It wanna make sure that the power of RBI is not violated by the decision of court and what RBI issued was under its power or not. If it is proved that RBI has clear authority to issue ban on crypto-related business then even courts are helpless, let alone government.

So what we should hope for as of now is a detailed and well-thought bill regulating cryptocurrencies rather than banning these and covering all aspects of ambiguity. However, on the personal note I don't want crypto to be regulated. Even if government spares trading, buying/selling and holding of cryptocurrencies in bill, it by no means will allow gambling or activities like mixing which is possible at present. So it's better for us to remain unregulated and pay taxes on our crypto earnings as per existing laws.
1134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with Fiat or Crypto? on: November 16, 2019, 01:43:46 PM
I like to gamble with crypto more than Fiat I like to stay at home rather than go out hang out with friends or whatever.
So I find it more efficient for me to gamble in crypto since I could do it at home rather than gambling with Fiat where I need to finds some place to gamble or find a person who would bet against me.

Although there is not much difference in fact, depositing with crypto has a number of advantages. Of course, anonymity comes first. Some countries have some legal restrictions on gambling. Cryptocurrencies makes it easy to overcome.

That's very important factor to be considered. In my country, gambling is banned in 26 out of 28 provinces/states. The ban also includes online gambling excluding games which require mental work (like setting up teams, etc). In other words, it can be said only those types of gambling is allowed where winning doesn't 100% matter on the chance/luck (or wagering contracts) and require some skills to put in.
In such scenario, cryptocurrencies play a significant role. Since crypto is not regularized in my country, it is neither considered as currency, nor as asset. So we can do crypto gambling without any trouble from legal authorities.
1135  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-13] Crypto Space Has Shockingly Low Total Liquidity of $500 Million on: November 16, 2019, 06:28:34 AM

I have been following the volumes at messari and they have consistently dropped in the last months. Not so long ago the daily volume on messari for Bitcoin fell below $100 million, which is an absolute joke. CMC kept reporting double digit billion $ volumes. They don't even care about fake volumes anymore despite their 'promise' for drastic changes.

We all know more than 90% altcoins are joke. Suppose I have 500K Waves which worth around $350K in present market. CMC says market volume is $11M which means me selling 500K WAVES shouldn't have much effect on the market price because it's just 3% of the market volume. But dare I sell those 500K WAVES and believe me market will crash like hell, it is possible that market price of Waves will fall below $0.40 from present $0.75

I stopped believing alts all together now, these are joke. It's better to stick with Bitcoin and work for the development of Bitcoin as universally accepted currency/asset rather than trying to make profits out of shitcoins having no real value and utility.
1136  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-13] Crypto Space Has Shockingly Low Total Liquidity of $500 Million on: November 15, 2019, 03:16:35 PM
My question is what liquidity are we talking about? Is it crypto/crypto or crypto/fiat or total of both? The story changes entirely depending upon the basis on which liquidity is calculated.

The article signifies the new Liquidity option launched by CoinMarketCap (looks more like a PR article to me). But CoinMarketCap is only considering crypto/crypto pairs to determine 'Liquidity'. I don't think term liquidity is meant for the crypto/crypto volume. Liquidity should be used to determine how easily can one convert fiat money like USD or Pound to Cryptocurrency and such markets should be considered for determining liquidity. Proper title for this CoinMarketCap addition should be like 'Non-manipulated Volume' or 'Real Volume'.
1137  Economy / Exchanges / Re: high bitcoin fee on: November 15, 2019, 08:15:49 AM
I think no one addressed OP's issue so far. Everyone is talking about Exchange charging high fees but OP wants to know the substitute to bitstamp and binance for sending btc:

Hello, right now i use bitstamp and binance. They both charge me 0.005 bitcoin fee when i transfer bitcoins from my account to another address. The problem is that i do that regulary with very small accounts and there is no way around it. And basicly paying fee as big as the money im transfering is well, not good. So what are the pages with lower fee ? Maybe 0.001 fee ? This page can either support paypal/credit card buying of bitcoins OR i can just transfer big money from bitstamp.

So OP you have to understand the difference between exchange and wallet. It is not advisable to use Exchange to send/receive bitcoin. Use Exchange to buy bitcoins. Once bought, withdraw these to a wallet and use the wallet to do transactions.
There are lot of wallets to choose from. If I mention any particular here then it may sound biased so I am going to give you general overlook. So there are basically four types of wallets - Web/Desktop/Mobile/Hardware. Web wallets are mostly centralized and you won't be given private keys so real ownership of funds will lie with the wallet, not you. Exchanges also work like Web Wallets. Since you don't have problem using Exchanges to keep money, Web Wallets will be best for you in my opinion. Web wallets are easy to use as compared to other type of wallets and fees are relatively less than Exchanges (mostly network fees).

Choose your web wallet from here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet
If you are new to bitcoin then I would recommend using this site to learn everything about Bitcoin.
1138  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How do you like your sig campaign payments. USD vs. BTC on: November 14, 2019, 04:51:09 PM
From what I see, the campaigns that pay in dollars are casinos and gambling sites, while the campaigns that pay in btc are mixer and exchange. I think the explanation is because thy have more customers who make deposits in dollars. so it's easier for these sites to pay in dollars, while the exchange and mixer that has customers who deposit bitcoins makes it easier to pay in bitcoin for sign campaign participants

Which crypto casino accepts payment in Dollars? None in my view. I recently used Playbetr and it uses Dollar as the site currency but still deposits/withdrawals are done in cryptocurrencies. Site converts the amount to dollars at the time of deposit and withdrawal.
On the contrary, I think casinos require bigger crypto reserves than exchanges or mixer since they have bankroll to maintain.
The only reason why I think some campaigns pay in dollars is because they want to maintain the expenditures at fix rate which is not possible due to high volatility of Bitcoin. So for campaigns which have established businesses and running long, it is easy to pay in dollars for the maintenance of books.

I particularly have no problem receiving in dollar or bitcoin

Actually I do. Receiving campaign payments in dollar equivalent deprives participants to make profits from compounding effect.
1139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should answer the important questions to increase Bitcoin adoption on: November 14, 2019, 03:38:16 PM
I think it's incredibly hard or even impossible to simplify Bitcoin for end users without compromising its decentralization. Both banks and Bitcoin heavily rely on cryptography, but banks managed to abstract it away from users because they are centralized. With Bitcoin it's not possible, there's no "I forgot my password" button, and we have to manually select addresses because we can't have both stable identities and privacy on a public network. These and others things create room for errors, and errors in Bitcoin are often final.

Using Bitcoin is not as difficult as people assume it to be. If you are little tech-savvy then creating wallet and doing transactions is very easy, especially when we have simplified wallets like Electrum and MyCelium.

Quote
But while these problems negatively affect adoption, I don't believe they are the main reason why adoption is low. Most people just don't share the views that lead to Bitcoin's creation - people don't see problems with middlemen, with banks and governments, and even when they do, they just want to change the management rather than change the whole system.

The more serious issue is that Bitcoin doesn't solve any specific transaction problem except anonymity. Let it be convenience, speed, universal applicability or fees - the traditional methods outshine Bitcoin in all those aspects. We can argue that Bitcoin is more secure than traditional methods but again I am a banking user from last many years and done lot of transactions. Till date I never faced a single instance where my security was compromised. So when people like me who are in bitcoin business from last many years don't have any complain from banking security then how can we expect general public to turn towards bitcoin without any reason?
1140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Qualifying on: November 14, 2019, 02:19:49 PM
~~
Well the last game against Ireland wasn't that easy as expected but with the big talents they have it must be doable to win both matches.

Northern Ireland played brilliantly so far especially in defense, However, Germany and Netherlands are too big ask for them and it is looking evident that NI will not qualify directly. However, I believe NI will make to Euro via play-off for the rest 4 positions.

@1982 and webtricks: Funny enough Gini and VVD have been powering the Dutch through. Wijnaldum scoring and assisting too. Just hope our boys don't get injured that's all I ask for.

Yeah. Liverpool having very positive impact on Gini, especially the match against Barcelona made him a perfect striker of ball. He can easily make runs into 18-yards box and score prolific goals. He single-handedly won one against Belarus with brace. I love his work-rate, very busy midfielder.

The old rivalry is once again going to ignite. Last time these teams faced each other, it was Copa America match and Messi blamed refs and authority for partiality. But this time match is to be hosted in Saudi Arabia so it will be fair-fight.
Hold up, are you saying that last game wasn't a fair fight? And Messi said a bunch of nonsense because he was salty 'cause he still can't win silverware with the NT  Roll Eyes Either way, this one should be a fun game, I'd go with Brazil to win.

Although Messi went length and blamed authority (which was wrong in my opinion) but still the decisions were debatable. Especially in the match against Brazil, there were two clear instances of penalty and what about that Red Card against Chile?
I will go for Argentina. Odds are high, I would love to triple my bet.  Cheesy
