1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which Sport Has Many Gambling Supporters (State Your Opinion) on: September 04, 2019, 04:17:42 PM
Hands down, Football (don't use the word soccer, I hate that, lol) is the most popular game in the world and its dominance is notable in gambling world too. I am avid football supporter and never misses a single La Liga game. What I have noticed is that almost 80% of the advertisements on the ad boards around the ground are gambling related. Last year, FortuneJack was one of the leading advertisers for LaLiga matches. This year, 1xBet's ads are shown on ad boards for 20-25% playtime in every game.

When these gambling sites are spending millions of euros on advertisement, it surely signifies that the number of users betting on football matches are numerous. However, if I have to talk about my country i.e. India, people here are crazy for cricket. During IPL season, cricket betting market crosses $100m every time in India according to reports.

Thought Watford would surprise Everton, but they let me down  Sad But happy day so far! @webtricks your system definitely works . But what a round so far for hahay !! - who’s that on here ?

I am using it from very quite few months and it works most of the time. As the tournament advances, it will turn more effective as I will have more data to evaluate. But hahay is playing at totally other level this week. Seems like he went to future and saw all results.  Cheesy
1246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: August 17, 2019, 09:43:35 AM

Time for an underdog winner in La Liga maybe?

Underdog winner, I doubt that!
Last time any small team won League was Leicester City which won the Premier League in 2015-16. But in La Liga, I doubt any team has such caliber. Last season, few teams did  beat big teams like Real Betis defeated Barcelona in Camp Nou. We can see such turns this season too. But I doubt any small team can do this consistently and win the league.
Although Real looked poor in pre-season but still Real has players who can turn any game any time. Real may improve significantly in later part of the season.
Whereas, let's not forget about Atletico Madrid. Atletico is strongest team in the league. However, Barcelona has Messi who can beat any team single-handedly. My prediction: either of the Barcelona or Atletico will win the league.

You’ve got to go with your gut instinct. Mine worked well last round , but this time my guts aren’t telling me much . Think I’ll get some spicy food  Smiley Good Luck all.

Probability is one of the best gift offered to us by mathematicians. I bet on Football regularly and using various probability methods increase my chances by 30-40%. Last week, I signed up for pool at the last minute and chose my picks randomly. But this week I am prepared and used best of my analytics. Let's see how it turns, I hope my ranking improves significantly this week.
1248  Economy / Services / Re: Job opportunity 3$/month + moderator post on: August 09, 2019, 11:39:14 AM
we will give 3 to 5$ per month for posting in forum

$3-$5 per month as a wage ? Huh

lets say you are going to pay $5 a month which is just 17 cents for a day

Yes. In Bangladesh they pay more bucks for one hour of your time, not the whole day.
If anyone is interested, they'd better start making iPhones or clothes in the 3rd world country.
For example :

Quote
Bangladesh, where the minimum legal wage for a garment worker is 23p an hour
(https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/mar/13/lidl-jeans-bangladesh-worker-pay-23p-an-hour)

No, you are mistaken. The article you stated says that garment workers are paid 23p per hour. The value of 23p is $0.0027 or 0.27 cents. Yeah! The workers in Bangladesh are paid that ill. So 17 cents is surely a higher amount than what garment workers are paid in Bangladesh.

Can an Indian national open an account @ Kraken with Indian bank account and purchase coins paying with Rupees?

As explained above, it's not possible. An alternative would be to use Unocoin or WazirX. I haven't tried either of them but there are some good reviews online.

Both of them are P2P Exchange, not direct exchange like Kraken so one cannot deposit INR on Unocoin and WazirX too.
1250  Local / India / Re: V. G. Siddhartha - CCD founder Dead - Could Crypto have saved him? on: August 01, 2019, 06:41:55 AM
It basically depends upon how CCD would have used crypto. If the company would have invested in crypto as an asset say 3-4 years ago then the invested value have been doubled or even tripled over the period and CCD would have been in very strong position with lot of liquidity at disposal. But this is now how companies work, they have immense pressure from VCs, shareholders, creditors and authorities so they can't use funds for such investments.

Now coming to what you are saying. I don't think using crypto as payment processor would have changed much. Most of the big companies which accept crypto as the payment medium generally liquidate them on the same day or on T+1 basis. They try avoiding to show cryptocurrencies in Financial Statements as that may weaken their market position.

In the end, I would like to raise the concern of Indian startup industries. After the CCD incident, it is an eye opener for us. Let me explain how the startup environment working in our country. On the small note, startups are running out of new ideas so what they are actually doing is to beat existing business models by providing cheaper alternatives. For example, Oyo Rooms providing cheaper rooms, Flipkart providing cheaper items, Zomato providing cheaper food. They aren't offering something new but offering existing goods or services under new model. This might be beneficial for us as the customers but for business it is leading to existential crisis. They are more concerned to attract customers, receive funding, increasing company valuation than the basic purpose of business i.e. profit generation. We all know about Flipkart. It is one of the giant in e-commerce industry. The revenue of Flipkart in 2018 was around ₹30K crore, impressive right? But can you guess the profit? It was -₹46K crores. Yes! The loss of 46,000 crore Indian Rupees. So their expenses were 46,000 crore more than their revenues!
I don't know where are we heading but we may soon see lot of giant startups fading away...
1251  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the Risk worth strengthening our economy ? on: July 18, 2019, 03:20:43 PM
Do you think any steps taken by government will actually create difference? Few bunch of government representatives won't change anything until everyone below who are actually executing these steps become clean. We can't expect government to deliver unless we on our own don't stop corruption.

Quote
* Urging the government to give better wages and opening more jobs for them

First thing child labor till the age of 14 is banned in India. So when government can't even restrict such mining fields to recruit children, do you think government can make sure everyone get paid the minimum wage!

Quote
*Making sure to not use products containing Mica or at least making sure that they are cruelty free .

How can we forgo a required material which carries such an importance in the economy?

Quote
*Throwing these bribe taking officials in Jail

And who will track whether officials are taking bribes? Some kind of inspectors appointed by government right? And what if these officials further bribe those inspectors? This is vicious circle, we can't expect government to improve something until we improve ourselves.
1252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hope for the best, Expect the worst on: July 18, 2019, 02:40:10 PM
See, this is why I don't mind TA, even if I don't believe in it. Short, sweet and looking at both possible sides of the coin (but hey the coin can land right on it's middle too, no? Wink

Generally people perceive the idea of TA wrongly. They think TA is some mathematics formula using which will bring us to single solution. That's wrong! TA doesn't bring absolute results. It is based on previous trends and in most of the cases subjective. Trends are further based on the past actions of traders. Now traders don't act in the same way every time. So TA is nothing but a short summary of all previous actions of traders. Therefore, we can say analysis of same security can show us two or more possible happenings (like the one in OP). In other words, TA can only show us possible roads and it is entirely our wish which road we want to walk on.
1253  Local / India / Re: Question about opening current account for bitcoin trading on: July 18, 2019, 09:44:51 AM
Hi guys,

So off late, I've been buying and selling a lot of cryptocurrency on some of the P2P exchanges like koinex loop (now shut), wazirx and bitbns.

I was using my personal account for this till now, but I believe that the volumes are becoming too much. Hence, I was thinking about opening a current account for trading as I've seen several other people do. My question is, what should I register for under gst, as I can turn around 20L in 2-3 days just trading 1btc a day roundtrip. Also, how would I go about filing this gst return as there is no gst on bitcoin yet.

Would appreciate any advice and experience.

Why do you want to register for GST?
You are not running any business. You are just buying and selling assets and making capital gains. You are not required to register under GST since there is no GST liability applicable on you.
It is good if you open separate account from your personal account for trading purpose however it is not mandatory to open current account. Current account is necessary if your business is making large number of cash deposits and cash withdrawals. But since you are using P2P networks, all transactions are rooted directly to your bank account. You can go with saving account too. However, if you receive and send over 10 transactions daily then better go with current account.
1254  Economy / Economics / Re: FED Chairmain compares Bitcoin to Gold on: July 17, 2019, 05:56:15 PM
I was surprised that I didn't see much coverage on this. This is pretty big, the guy running the FED at least officially basically knows what's up: That Bitcoin is being used a a store of value/speculation, and that it's competition for gold.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=jBUlXryF2WI

He also admitted that US as world reserve currency may not last forever...

And do you think he meant that in positive way? The same chairman slammed Libra coin in the very speech.
He was just stressing on the idea that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies cannot be considered as currencies. They are more sort of an investment. Everyone is open to intercept words in his/her own sense but to me, he sounds more like an contrarian of Bitcoin. What else could be expect from an old conventional bureaucrat.
1255  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Defending against the accusation of gambling on: July 17, 2019, 05:02:15 PM
I don't know if many of you notice this, but a lot of people who simply don't understand trading or derivatives seem hell bent on taking away our right to trade, just like the current proposed UK ban. They are cheering on the regulators to ban everything. They think any leverage is gambling. How do you feel realizing these people want to take your livelihood away?

Among all reasons, lack of trading knowledge is surely not the main reason why authorities are looking to ban some types of trading. You gave the example of UK ban, as per my knowledge authorities are most skeptical about binary trading. They aren't looking to ban all kinds of trading. And, moreover, it is not possible to ban all kind of trading and derivatives since these activities are the basis of mobilization of funds in the economy which is very necessary for economic development.
Coming to binary trading, even I consider binary trading as a sort of gambling since one is wagering money on the future value of security and there is equal chance of losing your capital if you make wrong decision which is essence of gambling. It is not exactly like traditional option trading and more of a gambling niche.
1256  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-11] Bitcoin Price Slips 10% in 24 Hrs as Fed Raises Facebook Libra... on: July 15, 2019, 06:40:53 PM
Libra can destroy an existing crypto system, think for yourself whether it's good or bad

Don't be so negative about all the new developments. The existing cryptocurrency users are not going to abandon their coins and shift to Libra. The centralized cryptocurrency from Facebook will be able to win the support of a huge number of individuals, but almost all of them are going to use crypto for the first time. And many of these users are going to shift from Libra to BTC in due course of time.

Mark my words. In two years from now, you'll say that Libracoin is the best thing that ever happened to Bitcoin users.

Interesting analysis I would say. More or less, I agree with you.
Although it's a kind of immature that every news about Libra good or bad effects crypto market on whole but this is how every investment market works! The real developments often known as core or fundamentals have very little contribution to price. Mostly prices are fluctuated from news, hype, FUDs, FOMOs. etc. Crypto market is no different. When the corporate giant like Facebook has stepped into crypto domain, it has to happen. But good thing is the effect of Libra is going to be positive since large proportion of general public still hesitate to invest in crypto for one reason or the other. But when company like FB is vouching for virtual currencies, people will show more willingness to buy cryptocurrencies.
1257  Local / India / Re: Solutions on How to file Tax returns on Bitcoin Income on: July 15, 2019, 05:39:45 PM
It helps a lot,but I am not earning much of bitcoins and converting it into INR so still I need to pay income taxes?

If you have earned more than 2.5 lakh in the last financial year, you will have to file income tax return. This does not mean you will have to pay tax but you have to let the government know how much you have earned! But if your total income is less than 2.5 lakh, then you don't have to file the return as well!

Here total income means your bitcoin earnings plus your offline earnings! Hope this helps!
Ofcourse I got more than 2.5 lakhs but I thought it is only necessary to do when we hit 5 lakhs per annum.

That is for the current financial year! So next year you won't have to pay income tax if your income doesn't exceed 5 lakhs. But currently we are doing taxes for last financial year i.e. FY 18-19. So for this year, the old rules apply!

Also we don't yet know if we don't have to file income tax return or not for upto 5 laks income! It is possible that the rule for filing income tax return remains unchanged, only the tax burden will be calculated based on 5 lakhs!

The basic exemption limit is still Rs. 2,50,000. Government has increased rebate through Section 87A which provide additional deduction upto Rs. 12,500  from total tax liability if income is between Rs. 2,50,000 and Rs. 5,00,000. So yes, even if your tax liability is zero, you have to file nil return if your income is above Rs. 2,50,000. The exemption from filing return is only available if total income is below Rs. 2,50,000 for individual below the age of 60. If the age of individual is above 60 or 80 then the exemption limit is Rs. 3,00,000 and Rs. 5,00,000 respectively.
1258  Economy / Economics / Re: buying bitcoin is like immigrating to a new country on: July 15, 2019, 03:44:30 PM
It seems nobody knows how many whales are out there, these whales maybe extremely selfish. Therefore, it is like a country with UNKNOWN Gini coefficient and UNKNOWN leaders, therefore very UNCLEAR economic future. In other words, it is very difficult to predict its future.

From what I understand, if we consider in the near future, even if the scaling problem are completely solved, bitcoin may still fail because reasons list above in terms of wealth distribution. If you buy bitcoin now, it is like immigrating to a new country. Never underestimate the possibility that bitcoin may go to zero. Do NOT be too confident with bitcoin and put all your money in it.

As far as number of people demanding Bitcoin (i.e. willing to buy Bitcoins) is higher than the number of people holding the total supply of Bitcoins, it is impossible that Bitcoin goes to zero. You said number of whales are unknown but you still putting all whales in single bracket by claiming that they all are selfish! No doubt whales control the market to very large extent and most of the major fluctuations are caused by manipulating activities from these whales. But still it is impossible that all whales make same move at the same time. Until they all corroborate each other and manipulate market in the same way, it is impossible that they completely control the market.
1259  Economy / Services / Re: Do not miss the chance to get a reward for testing new mode of [banned mixer] on: July 14, 2019, 12:41:42 PM
Sorry for late response. I almost forgot about this thread.Cheesy So I tried precise payment option yesterday. In short, it is a nice and much-needed feature especially if someone is mixing funds to further use them to make specific payment from the destination address. A nice option to avoid leftover on the destination address.

I noticed the following things on 'Precise Payment' landing page:
  • No detail of fees is provided on landing page. Not until we add the amount, destination address and change address that we are redirected to second page which provides the details of minimum amount to be sent inclusive of fees. I think it would be better if rough idea of fees is shown on first page.
  • Bech-32 addresses are shown as wrong format.

How it worked?
So once I sent the amount on generated address, it took 2 hours to receive precise amount on the destination address. Site claims that it takes 1 to 6 hours to mix and send the amount, so it was pretty much satisfactory. I received change amount on the second address at the interval of 15 minutes. Hence, I would say Precise Payment option is working perfectly and the process is exactly the way as it is claimed on site.

Suggestions
I personally think that precise payment option somehow decreases the anonymity of mixing since the roughly same amount is received on destination address within next 5-15  blocks. It would be better if mixing allows to split precise amount among two addresses. So it goes like this:
<Payment Amount 1>
<Destination Address 1>
<Payment Amount 2>
<Destination Address 2>
<Change Address>

I don't know if it is possible as I am not much of a technical guy but this option will increase anonymity many-folds.
