1361  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official CedarTec Topic - New ASIC [Scam?] on: May 20, 2013, 01:33:18 AM
I am still waiting on my miner, it has been a month now without any replies to my email... I sent 200 btc and was promised express shipping.

Please answer my emails CedarTec.

Did you really send them 200 BTC?

You should probably start accepting you will never see it again now...
1362  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official CedarTec Topic - New ASIC [Scam?] on: May 20, 2013, 01:19:27 AM
Anyway, Kruncha where do I blindly send you my BTC for one of these sick ASIC Dollhouses with no guarantee or even proof they actually exist? Does it come with a doll that I may also sooth my crippling existential loneliness when I figure out you are a dirty scammer when it is too late?

Scammer!! Cheesy

I guess you didn't actually read the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=203342.0

As if someone would believe it Cheesy

K.

Grin Actually I hadn't seen that thread in the Altcoin forum chaos, nice

I dunno, I wouldn't put it past anyone with what I've been sniffing lately around here
1363  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Crypto Mining Database - All Known Vendors and Status on: May 20, 2013, 01:12:37 AM
Awesome thread. Will keep this as one to watch. Really curious to see how the Avalon DIY projects pan out. Ready to throw a pile of BTC towards any legitimate project that materializes.

I am working on a bigger version Cool  I have registered a new domain for it just yesterday, called CoinCanary.org (not up yet). It is to be a news blog and forum about the activities and scammeries of these companies. We'll venture deep into the mines to see if these things pass the smell test in a more transparent and visible way. Hopefully we can help put an end to people throwing their money away on these obvious scams with some education.

1364  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASX Project on: May 20, 2013, 01:00:21 AM
All signs point to probable scam, their image fake has earned them red status on the vendor database. Fishy

what i don't get is why people still might think kncminer is legit

KNCMiner is active on the board and have taken funds from no one so far. The proof is in the pudding but their guys seem legit to do it.
1365  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Should i order a 5ghs asics from bfl on: May 20, 2013, 12:55:32 AM
If you give them any money you will be right back here cursing them with us soon after.

Give your money to a company that actually delivers like Avalon or ASICMiner, as the only two I have seen so far actually do what they promised and are not engulfed in justified community drama.

Don't support BFL, they don't deserve it.
1366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Received BFL Jalapeņo Today! on: May 20, 2013, 12:51:29 AM

1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BlockBurner - Crucible FPGA Scrypt Miner - Answering the Call on: May 19, 2013, 11:58:43 PM
Not interested in a preorder, but I would certainly buy at least one if/when you start rolling out working units.

I can understand your hesitation in an industry full of scamsters. Everyone who wants one of these will get one, pre-order or not  Smiley

Would you guys consider a kickstarter project?

It has crossed my mind looking at the various funding tools we have access to, though if we were going to go that route I would like to see it be a bitcoinstarter type of campaign. I havn't seen a platform for Litecoin yet (hint hint  Grin).

1369  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I'm starting to get fucking pissed (BFL) on: May 19, 2013, 11:43:38 AM
Having placed a very early preorder I can say that as it currently stands there's pretty much no reason to ask for a return if you're one of those June/July orders.  It's almost like bettering on #24 on a roulette wheel - low chance in hell but decent payoff if you do get it.  What's $1300 for a Single now anyways - 11 BTC.  I paid over 200 BTC for mine, at this point getting back 11 BTC would be like an escrow tip  Roll Eyes

Now for anybody who has later orders you must either have faith in the company or not want to deal with the other ASIC vendors.

For the OP who has less on the line it doesn't make sense to ask for a refund unless he absolutely needs the $.  What BFL should do is return the current price of the miners (ie 2x cost) for seizing the money for 10 months but like that will ever happen  Cheesy

Defend their bullshit all you want, Bitcoin is a community call and they are pissing all over it. Josh is an asshole, which I don't think I need to elaborate on, the video of him says it all.

Why support a business built by scammers, jerks, and liars. Others deserve your coin a lot more by simply being transparent and delivering on their promises.

Their crap reputation and open rebellion is on them, not us.
1370  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I'm starting to get fucking pissed (BFL) on: May 19, 2013, 09:18:36 AM
My advice: get a refund and don't look back.

There are other companies that deserve your support over these scumbags. BFL is run by amateurs that don't give a rats ass about the community, they are just in it for the money.

Vote with your wallet, request a refund, and give it to Avalon or ASICMiner as the only two that have actually done what they promised, or look into the other DIY projects in the works to use Avalon chips.

BFL is a pathetic business and a mockery of this new industry, it should not be stood for and defended.

The mutiny is spreading

Seeing that there is huge interest in this product and the interest in pre ordering,
Would it be wise to set up pre order registration?

Allow names/details to be put down, once pre ordering comes around, those people who registered for the pre order get first lash/ or are locked in pending their approval, and if the price is not to their liking, then they can decline and that would free up a slot for someone else, there could be a time limit on how long a person who registered for the pre order has to accept the price, thus making it so no one holds up the whole process.

Lets say your first production run goal is X, accept pre order registration for 75% of X, leaving a guaranteed 25% available for new comers when pre orders go live.

Pre Order Registration will also give you insight into many people are interested, and give you a rough target number for your first production run.

Looking at the over all picture, with my business experience I reckon the method will work great, plus it's used by many businesses, especially in the concert sales ticket industry.

Already Sold, would order now if I could.

Just my two cents worth, No doubt you guys are working on a sales plan etc.

In an industry riddled with scammers and liars we're being very careful with our pre-order plans, this is an interesting option to consider when it comes time.

The design only exists on paper, I will make no illusions of this fact. The dev team is starting to dig into the more complex aspects.

I have seen a prototype UI interface, though until it is actually functioning with cgminer at it's heart I won't be releasing any details just yet.

The software division has been formed consisting of Kano on cgminer support and programming, as well as babcoccl heading the GUI interface side.

Monday marks week 5 as we pile deeper into the details and becoming a legal entity in the state of Montana.

One detail that I can release today: I have decided a name for our new line

Welcome to Crucible FPGA  Cool
1372  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ANN] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: May 19, 2013, 03:14:09 AM
This should be made water and dust proof.
Also why is the connection not bluetooth instead of usb? That connector will wear out.

It'll be dust proof but not water proof. The device has no battery in this version, so you cannot "just use bluetooth instead of USB".

In my 10+ years of professional computer work I have never seen a USB plug so worn it no longer works. They can withstand a long operational lifetime.

I would say for a real savings account you should maintain a true solid offline account, like the physical Bitcoins or something similar. This device helps bridge the gap to make offline spending easier for other things.

Operatr,

According to this thread, ASXProject is an obvious scam. This should be noted in the original post.

I have to say this is the best scam thread I've read here yet...or a crime against humanity... I can't decide which.

Red Status achieved, don't send these people your money!

1378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Centralization Will Bring Down Bitcoin on: May 17, 2013, 10:18:24 AM
Exchanges are already decentralized.

They are also highly profitable businesses, and you can be sure more investor will want to setup exchanges to serve their local community.

However, it will take time for new exchanges to build up your reputation and to work with their respective local authority for the right operating license.

These will naturally replace the needs for cross boarder transaction with Mtgox.

They are anything but decentralized, therein lies the problem. MTGox is only a problem because it was one first exchanges, naturally without a lot of other options they carried 80% of trade, which makes it dangerous to the market as a whole. This is changing with more exchanges starting to come online.

We need a true p2p exchange platform to truly decentralize it. Though Gox and others are still necessary as intermediaries from coin to fiat currency.

They've received some red on my Vendor database for these shenanigans
1380  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New ASIC project was announced in Chinese forum, 200T in Sept. on: May 17, 2013, 08:12:08 AM
On that list why is ASICMiner orange, putting it on the same level as BTCGarden, which has nothing that I see to back it up (no website, no pictures, no concrete plans), while BFLabs is Green, along with Avalon, having delivered nothing more than like 5 or 10 jalapenos?

ASICMiner has been hashing away with 20+TH for months, they've delivered every product that they put up for sale, have pictures of working product. Seems a little bizarre.

I agree, I'm still working on it Smiley I've been following up on these today.  In fact I intend to start up a news site that will host a more official version of this report that will be much more concise and have additional information about these companies. I think with the BFL debacle something like that is needed now.

BFL is an odd one in that they are technically shipping but are surrounded by really scammy behavior...I added some red to their green status to denote this.

But lets not thread jack, please post additional concerns directly in the Vendor database thread
