1321  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cryonics Frosbit claiming 1000Gh/s - $15K?? on: May 25, 2013, 04:30:40 PM
Hey Cryonik, here, FTFY:

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy That's pretty damn funny

I've been trying to find any direct linkage to Ed Trice and the Cryoniks CEO Fahad Koumaiha who appears to be a real person, but havn't found much yet.

It seems agreed around the boards this press release and even the wording seems very much like Ed Trice's previous techno-bullshit scams
1322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The ASIC device scams are getting a little fancier. on: May 25, 2013, 04:14:47 PM
The people from Cryonik have posted a pretty lengthy post on reddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1ez8br/cryoniks_inc_lets_talk_frostbittm/

Oh wow, there is an interessting comment:

Quote
This is a scam, /u/CryoniksInc should be tagged as a scammer and shadowbanned. This is a known scam, people have already lost tens of thousands of dollars and the authorities are already involved. But seriously, guys:

we use a custom-modified Stirling Generator that uses Helium Compression Technology to super-cool a custom-designed condenser...
A fool and his money are soon parted, I suppose. Don't give these guys a dime. Ed Trice has been investigated for embezzlement and lost a $2M lawsuit for being a scammer a couple years back. Delaware detectives are currently searching for Ed Trice. Don't go near this scam "company".

But are they the same?

Sounds like it is probably the same, I've never seen any other companies claim to have such a cooling device.

We need some proof that Trice is part of this, Ill dig around today and see what I can find out. I'm waiting for a DNS change so I have some time on my hands until it propegates  Grin

I'm almost tired of adding scammers to Coin Canary.... Undecided

At least they are all bad at at, and most of us are technical people that spot this crap easily.

Bankers and stock sharks are polishing brass on the Titanic. But thanks to their rampant greed and corruption pushing the system to failure, they will hang themselves by their own petards soon enough for their actions.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am NOT 100% Convinced Bitcoin Is Money... on: May 25, 2013, 02:46:23 PM
Fiat money is just metal and linen with no intrinsic value on their own. It is only worth something because we say it is worth something. Fiat might as well be seashells or leaves, as Bernake and his international banker cronies can just keep making more endlessly.

I'm not 100% convinced the Dollar is money.

I think BFL went WAY THE FUCK in over thier heads, While running a preorder funds scam to get the money togeather to "get a jump" on the competition.
But they were underprepared, and underestimated the difficulty of what they are doing.
BFL is a very crooked comapany with convicted scammers running it, however, that does not mean that thier ability to create ASIC units is a scam.

I see no indication that BFL has any in-house technical skill whatsoever.  I'll bet that anything more complex than designing air-flow (which they've chronically fucked up) has been contracted out, and I'll bet that they themselves were scammed here more than once.  Or at least lacked the skill required to select a competent vendor.  Burning some of pre-order funds in the process.

Ultimately we won't know much of anything until someone sands one of 'their' chips.  I'll be looking forward to that with interest.

Given they already wasted a crap load of pre-order funds redesigning the entire line after realizing they fucked up bad on power/cooling issues...

1327  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Someone got a 2Thash/s farm on: May 24, 2013, 06:17:36 PM
Who said anything about Litecoin?  The network hashrate for LTC is somewhere around 17-18 Gh/s, so definitely no Th/s farms for it.

He noted there being nothing for GPU miners to do, I am saying there is still LTC and the altcoins which are still GPU based primarily still as ASICs like this one push everything else out.
1328  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I was just banned from BFL forums on: May 24, 2013, 05:52:05 PM
"supposedly' they shipped all jalapeno orders for june 23 to 25th on 3 days ago.  What isn't clear is if this was another 'burp' like a month ago when they shipped out samples to testers and important people or actually for real customers.

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/blogs/

Who knows, there is no reason to trust anything they say as they have only put out lie after lie about their shipping timetables.
1329  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I was just banned from BFL forums on: May 24, 2013, 04:01:12 PM
a few days ago bfl posted a message on their forums saying they're finally starting to ship 'more' jalapeno units. lol

Yeah they say lots of things. Its not about getting a unit for me, it is about denying them an order for their unacceptible business practices.

I would rather give my money to an ASIC seller that deserves to be funded. BFL does not.

Refund From    BF Labs Inc.   Pending Until May 29, 2013

On my PayPal

It appears I shall indeed get my money back soon

Also, the website lists certain trademarks. A search of the USPTO.gov database returns NO results for Cryoniks or Frostbit. They are illegally using the TM designation after their good designations.

It isn't illegal to use them I think, it just means wherever they appear on their logos and such have zero merit.
1332  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Someone got a 2Thash/s farm on: May 24, 2013, 02:52:38 PM
No ASICs in Litecoin world yet Smiley Or FPGAs really even (for now if I have anything to say about it)
1333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 100,000 votes on Dropbox website and counting! bitcoin adoption imminent? on: May 24, 2013, 02:24:24 PM
Things like this are what will catapult BTC to the top, along with those before who adopted early like Wordpress  Cool Cool
1334  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs CEO 25 Million USD Mail Fraud — A Concise Summary of Evidence on: May 24, 2013, 09:37:06 AM
Holy shitballs Butterfly labs have just announced their new 50Th/s modules. These things look killer, sign me up for two!

http://tinypic.com/r/30aaoud/5

Wait, is this new? They had two of them hashing at the conference last weekend (of at least spinning their fans. They didn't feel hot)

They might as well be rated for 1,000,000 Th/S, vaporware is vaporware
1335  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I was just banned from BFL forums on: May 23, 2013, 11:18:59 PM
Maybe consider filing an FTC complaint as well.

This may be of interest to you: http://business.ftc.gov/documents/alt051-selling-internet-prompt-delivery-rules

Complaint form: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

I will happily do so, might stop by the BBB as well.

I just tried filing a resolution with PayPal but it was instantly closed, too long since the initial transaction I guess?

So BFL has my money and apparently won't give it back. I will give it some more time but I might just be screwed here.

BBB is a good start, but they are pretty much a powerless entity if the company chooses to ignore your complaint.  An approach with more bite would be to notify your state's attorney general's office if you are in the USA.  Charge back your credit card immediately.  Do not mess with paypal or useless refund requests.  Your credit card is there to protect you, as much as we all hate the big banks.  That is their job.  If that fails, then, consult with a lawyer on a contingency basis (they don't make a dime unless you win, and then they take a percentage) to sue them for the amount they owe you.  They will consider things you haven't even dreamed of beyond what you are owed, like lost earnings and punitive damages for bad faith.  The letter from the attorney alone should be enough to get your refund, but you may be able to get far more.

Edit:  ah nevermind I see you got refunded.  I will leave this up for anyone else going through the same thing though.

Well, they say I will be refunded, I have to give them the benefit of the doubt that within 5 days my money will return since I have no choice.

Really it is true, BBB and other agencies can't really do squat. Best course is to kill them at the source: spread the word about their epic scam and try to keep any new money from reaching them from gullible customers like myself. Granted, all of the information wasn't there when I ordered like many. If I had known their CEO was a scammer from the jump I never would have sent them anything.

1338  Other / Meta / Re: Petition: BFL should no longer be allowed to advertise here on: May 23, 2013, 10:12:00 PM
Butterfly Labs will punitively cancel all your preorders and refund your money if you speak ill of them, and they can link your forums account to their customer accounts.

Be careful with criticisms if you have preorders.

Unless you want a refund like me, being as disruptive as possible they couldn't give me a refund fast enough
1339  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty is going own? BTC and LTC? on: May 23, 2013, 10:10:28 PM
Ah yes, the altcoin factor.

Even if most of them are ultimately overhyped junk, they are serving an important purpose in stabilizing the big coins on price and network power. The focus isn't 100% on BTC or LTC now, so the speculation has moved away from them. I think we have the alts to thank for Bitcoin's relative price stability lately.
1340  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I was just banned from BFL forums on: May 23, 2013, 09:51:10 PM
For me the maths don't add up, why sell something when in ten days of running you could make more money by keeping. Unless that's the plan wait for the difficulty to reach a certain level then sell them when they no longer make enough profit ??

It isnt about money, its about the principle.

This company has dicked everyone around for over a year, not delivered, called their customers idiots, and is run by convicted scammers.

Nope, I will be dead before I let my funds help keep this shameful display alive.
