I hope they are a scam... lol... I keep directing future investors there... My plan is... if they are a scam, that leaves more future hashing power for me, since everyone spent money there,

1302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat End Game on: May 26, 2013, 08:30:33 PM
It is a mathematical certainty that fiat will end soon, probably within the next year

If it's a mathematical certainty, please provide the exact date/time. Thanks.

Mathematically certain enough to say it is a question of when, and not if. Fractional reserve has a built in clock, where the debt at some point will effectively be infinity, as in there is no way to pay it back by just printing some more money. The market will do what it will, I cannot say when down to the exact time and space, no one can, but if I had to posit a guess, our world will start feeling it bad around the start of 2014 when the same old tricks won't work anymore, leading to hyperinflation of the Dollar, and worse probably.

If you want to watch something scary, check this out

... every market on Earth flirts with the sons of disaster.

That's 'coz they're so darn attractive!

Just...hell no lol

Though pedobear is a pretty fair analog of our current world market...

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-05-25/gold-and-fiat-end-game

If only there was some kind of decentralized, free market system where it is impossible to just create more money out of thin air we could replace fiat with...oh well, we can dream  Grin

Fiat will be replaced once ruling bloodlines insure getting more control over herd with the whole replacement deal. It would be so much more effective if herd "comes up" with that which
is to replace fiat and demand global adoption of it, which is what cryptocoins are actualy about.

Herd can never permanently outsmart natural-born rulers. "We are many" can do some damage here and there but in the end they need someone to rule over them. That is nature law.

I imagine when the Dollar/Euro/Yaun/whatever actually starts it's rapid decline the first thing our Sheep Herders will do is call for a global currency likely based on fractional reserve as before, one they still control naturally. There already are rumors on something like this already for Canada/North America/Mexico as part of a new fiefdom.

Bitcoin is the antithesis of privately controlled currency. The herds money Cheesy But it is a system that not even the herd completely controls. We still need leaders of course, some are happy to follow, but those leaders should not have total control over the money supply too as that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and this is proven again and again in our current rat race world.

My trust was so low I really wasnt sure they would give me a refund because I spoke up on my displeasure. Had I not been as disruptive as I was who knows if they would have given my money back, I quite literally did threaten to slander them up and down with the facts anywhere I could until I got my funds back (though I'll be doing that anyway). I've heard others got refunds but not without some effort.

I will know if they will make good in about 3 days, if so I can call myself free of their web of lies.

Slander != Facts. Stick to facts.

Well, not slander I suppose, just spreading the facts, like their CEO being a convicted criminal fraudster  Shocked

It will be interesting to see what happens for sure. It is a mathematical certainty that fiat will end soon, probably within the next year as every market on Earth flirts with the sons of disaster. Any tilt anywhere could start a catastrophic chain reaction that could stop fiat cold in its tracks faster than anyone thought possible.

An example is Lehman Brothers. No one thought that bank would completely fail over a single weekend, but it did, and the fallout was so severe it sent the entire world into a recession. The entire world is now in such a predicament...no amount of BernakeBucks will fix it this time.
1308  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: List of ongoing scams on: May 26, 2013, 02:07:23 PM
I'm the owner of StrikeSapphire.

First of all, we denominate our accounts in USD because our software is built to handle multiple deposit methods. We don't hedge one currency against the other or take any trading positions with customer deposits. Once a customer's deposit is in, we convert it to USD and store it as USD -- the same amount you see in your account. What you see is what you get. When we opened in July 2011, BTC dropped from $30 to $2 in the span of a month, but we took no losses, and all of the players with USD in our system were completely unaffected by that.
It's been my belief from the beginning that BTC is, for now, better treated as a payment method than a store of value for us, because we already gamble once with very low- or no-house-edge games. We don't need to gamble with currency volatility on top of that.

We do not make a profit on our BTC<>USD rate. Our deposits and withdrawals are handled at the live rates from Bitstamp.

We have never failed to pay out quickly, and we maintain at least 5x the total customer deposits on hand in USD for immediate withdrawal. We do not have a client-side hashing algorithm built into our site, because most of our games are multiplayer. However every single shoe of cards we've ever dealt is available for public analysis, as well as our daily RTP figures for every game, at https://strikesapphire.com/reports . If you believe there is something unfair about our RNG, you are free to run a statistical analysis on it. If you've played at our site, then any cards you've been dealt can be found in there if you know the hand ID numbers.

I don't know if you're one of our players. If you are, I hope neither myself, FragileJD or Mike has been rude to you. If someone has, please let us know. We do our best to provide quick, excellent service. I know that I have had a reputation for being a hardass from time to time -- particularly in the case of Dooglus. And I have to say I really appreciate Doog for taking the high road here, since I know he doesn't care for me much personally. That does not make us a scam.

We've been in business for almost 2 full years, longer than any other Bitcoin casino currently standing, and have never once failed our customers or had a dispute which resulted in players not getting paid out. I think our record speaks for itself, and I'd appreciate being removed from this list.

Wouldn't worry about it, no one seems to give this much merit as he refuses to actually provide any kind of objective evidence of these claims.

Simply calling something a scam and waiting for a response is unacceptable. If you are going to out a company for wrongdoing the burden of proof is on you, not them.
1309  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: List of ongoing scams on: May 26, 2013, 01:29:27 AM
I can tell you right now this is not the best path to take with this tmbp

Without any proof this can be considered libel. Being judge and jury won't earn you any love either, I know this as I did it to myself before correcting my "Coin Canary" thread to be a collection of facts instead of an executioners stump

Glad someone is actually receiving these things...even if they didn't ask for them?

Though these are just Jally's, I'm curious when we might see their successor the Single SC which is a different design. Their entire BitForce line is nowhere to be seen.

Vapourminer did this thing ship with an actual UI software to use or is it just what you are showing here?

1312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am NOT 100% Convinced Bitcoin Is Money... on: May 26, 2013, 01:07:41 AM
You're right, Bitcoin is not money. It's more than money! A dollar bill can't send itself. But bitcoin can!

Reminds me of my six year old, who said that he wanted to invent a system that involved taking a picture of you holding money "to prove that you had it" in order to buy something.  He was upset because he wanted to buy a game but didn't have a credit card.  We later had to get him to think about why his invention wouldn't quite work the way that he thought it would.  He wouldn't need his invention with BTC though.

Sounds like Bitcoin could be a valuable teaching tool there  Smiley

This is the true power of BTC as a currency. As system where all of the money must be made accountable. If a loan is made in BTC, it is made with actual currency and not air. It is still the transfer of wealth from one person to another, just like loaning out some amount of physical gold or loaning cash to a friend to be paid back.

A "loan" now is just the creation of more debt overall and is based on nothing as a future liability for the bank. Technically the bank didn't actually loan you anything at all but some run time on Bernake's Magic Money Machine.

If the world operated on a free market system that cannot be corrupted by endless printing of money, that means our government would have to be accountable for their spending because they can't just spend their way out of it (which never works obviously). It means that the rich and powerful only stay that way if society allows it. Imagine a government that only functions financially at the will of the public, since they can never tax us by force. If they want to go to war it would only happen through willful public spending. Their salaries are only as big as we allow them to be, as the menial government jobs they should be. Obviously there are some hypotheticals in there, but overall a BTC conversion would create accountability unseen at any point in US history, or world history for that matter.

1314  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Coin Canary - Mining Database - All Known Vendors and Status on: May 26, 2013, 12:39:14 AM

As I pointed out in another thread, I would leave Bitwize be. Unless some employee or other is involved, I have worked with them in the past and they're legit (or were then, at least).

Not that I wouldn't put it past certain ppl, but it would be moronic to "like" your company/employer on your own scam page. There is probably some link or other to be made, as Bitwize is a "local" competitor, but I don't think it's at company level.

It is difficult to discount the linkage though, why is it there at all? If Bitwize is behind a host of scam sites I think that deserves to be recognized as well, however I have no direct proof of this, but strange nonetheless

Hate to over simplify, but that was my absolute first thought when seeing the scam site's name.

Seems like has to be but I have not seen anything directly tying the two. If they are in cahoots they are certainly keeping that part quiet

I did some research on this new Cryoniks all the kids are talking about these days-

Well, more digging-

The CEO FAHAD KOUMAIHA is involved with another business called Crypteks

Also another thing called Cryptrade  http://www.cryptrade.com/#/home

Notice on the Crypteks Facebook, a like for Bitwize  https://www.facebook.com/crypteks, and Bitwize linkage on the Cryptrade home page with a very similar template used by Cryoniks

Kickstarter that has people questioning them as fraudulent with refund run-arounds   http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crypteks/crypteks-usbtm-encrypted-and-lockable-usb-solution/comments, speculation that the business is actually run from Lebanon

Reddit has plenty to say on this

As horrible as it is for the backers, it's a sad fact that not every company will be able to make it. What's "dark" and terrible about this company is that they chose to neither communicate properly to their backers, nor were competent enough to give refunds.
I've been checking out kickstarter for a while. They do their best to see real material and such before approving projects for their site. While, yes, try do make money regardless of whether the project delivers or not, they DO actively block people to abuse their platform. I mean, they require something real and tangible for most projects. Software is the only real exception there, and perhaps a few games. I think they do a good job policing projects before they get approved. And, if the projects take your money and run, it doesn't look good for them, either.
And, like they've said, and numerous others have said, this is product investment by crowd. It's a risk. You're not pre-ordering or buying a product, you're giving them funding. If thing go the way they're supposed to, you get something back. And, if not, you get a refund. If you don't, some time of legal recourse should be appropriate, or just calling your credit card company and nixing the charge. The only time it's not really a risk is if it's a successful person or company that's finished one project, delivered, and then put another up.
Those guys should be ashamed of themselves for not communicating properly. If they need more time because of delays, say so. If you completely failed, detail why. Crowd-funding isn't just about getting money. It's about small companies and groups learning how to put out products without having massive debts or big name investors reaching down their backs. Some people wouldn't be able to deliver something at all if it wasn't for this model. Sharing your mistakes is more important that sharing your successes. It helps show the way for others. It's not just crowd-funding, it's crowd-learning about entrepreneurship.

Obvious scam is obvious. Don't preorder these.

May I see your evidence of a scam? Hopefully you're not actually trying to claim that concept art is a scam. I think what you meant to say was, "This might be a scam". Because if something is obviously a scam, than you would have some evidence to back up your claims.

Interestingly enough, these links that were posted that some of you are believing to be credible are claiming ButterflyLabs is legit as so many people on here are misusing the word "scam" toward them as well.

This company that has not proven their device exists in the slightest but are happy to take your money anyway. This is just a fancy website, with a nice graphic, and techno-wizardry sounding PR release (as a technical person can tell you is mostly all a bunch of Gee-whiz! sounding bullshit more at home on an episode of Star Trek), and nothing more.

BFL has shipped some stuff but their business practices are also shady as hell.
