21  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 21, 2022, 01:29:09 PM
New NBA season is coming. NBA fans are once again eager to see what this new season brings. Coming from the NBA official website they posted an NBA fantasy ranking. Here is the top 20 ranking. What are your reactions on the ranking fellas? Do you agree or disagree with it?

I am okay with the ranking with the exception of James Harden. Are they presuming that James Harden will have a very good performance in the next season? Is Kevin Durant a better player than LeBron James at the moment?
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Gambling Companies and Bitcoin on: September 20, 2022, 12:53:43 PM
What I know is that these gambling companies that accept Bitcoin as one of their accepted currencies are registered and licensed from Cyprus and Curacao (an island located in South America and a part of the Netherlands). We all know that there are only two nations that lawfully accept Bitcoin as a legal currency, El Salvador and Central African Republic. So how come that these gambling companies are allowed to put to use Bitcoin as one of their accepted currencies when neither Netherlands and Cyprus aren't legalizing Bitcoin as a currency? Are the authorities of these nations turning a blind eye on the Bitcoin use?

Or is it possible that gambling companies are allowed to accept any forms of tangible or non-tangible objects so long as they deem it valuable to their operations? Take for instance, casino chips and tokens are used to play games in the tables and on slot machines. So is this the case of Bitcoin too?
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No doubt POS is centralized on: September 20, 2022, 12:12:49 PM
Literally POS is not centralized but prone for exploitation. When ETH converted to POS, the giant and most powerful companies in the world can accumulate up to the point that they can hold influence in the network. On the other hand, the same companies and powerful corporations can also invest mining rigs if in case ETH remained at POW. Anyhow, POS is the easier to centralize than POW. Either ETHW or ETC or maybe both can gain more supporters in the coming months and years if they can manage to stay alive.
24  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 19, 2022, 07:08:56 AM
The question: Who do you think will prevail in this fight? Canelo or GGG or Draw?

The answers from 68.2% of Bitcointalk users was GGG and they were all wrong. I chose Alvarez to win because I factored Golovkin's old age. His spirit was willing but his body cannot do it anymore.

Way to go Bitcointalk users. Many of you lost bets from this fight. Let us proceed to the next world title fights and make better analysis so that we can win our bets.
25  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Casinos vs money laundering. on: September 19, 2022, 06:21:19 AM
KYC is not enough for crypto casinos? Crypto casinos should check all its players source of funds?

I'm not siding with the casinos on this, but that's probably what the regulators and authorities are asking them to do. Similar to how banks ask you for a statement about the source of funds when you want to deposit or withdraw a large sum of money. Only thing that I find unfair about casinos is that they do not ask for this information when making deposits or when registering, but when withdrawing money after winning. So basically, people that move large sums of money into the casino are not being asked to do this, but people that just won a moderate amount of money are.

When has the casinos turn to AML agency or government personell that has the institutions of banks KYC in there mandates, as a matter of fact an average seriously minded casino should not demand for KYC because it will chase gamblers away from them, are they government, if we needed KYC then the ones experienced from banks were enough and not in gambling again, it enough, crypto gamblings are not the initiators of money laundering, this is what has been in place right from history of time,

But a smart casino will definitely follow the government requirement of KYC implementation.  It is better to lose some players than being shutdown totally by the government authority.  As a Casino that wanted to have a smooth operation and labeled as legal company by the authority, they need to follow the authority rules.  We are not in an anarchy so the casino need to follow rules and regulation so that  they can operate with peace of mind.
Casinos have no choice but to follow their government requirements especially KYC. And right, the same with the banks asking for KYC to avoid money laundering. These meant that all deposits that are not normal to their clients monthly and yearly income can cause a red alert on the casino or bank.

What I have seen is these online casinos KYC rules are to protect from international money laundering. What about local money laundering? Did any of us here experienced stiff KYC from our local land-based casinos?

Are we going to ignore that land based casinos are not even asking for its gamblers KYC? There are some casinos that need an ID before people can enter. But that's it, they don't photocopy the ID for for their copy. Most casinos I entered do not require ID. You can easily enter as long as you don't look like a criminal or beggar.
27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 16, 2022, 12:26:15 PM
Whaat? The voting is opposite to the actual betting market. Are you people sure that Golovkin will win? Did you cast your bets on Golovkin already?

I would like to see GGG do well and make it an entertaining fight. I have to agree with the consensus that Canelo is a heavy favorite. It is not just about age. The size difference might also be a factor. Canelo has been fighting super middleweights and light heavyweights in recent years while Golovkin has remained at middleweight. Maybe if Canelo has stamina problems, GGG might find a way to win rounds but the most likely outcome in my opinion is Canelo by wide decision or perhaps even late stoppage.
The stamina problem of Canelo might be when he move up to LHW, as we can see it's either Bivol punches that have slow him down or that Canelo is really getting tired because of this new added weight on this body at 175. For Golovkin it's a relief that he will be fighting at 168 lbs, so there's no need for him to drain his body and maybe it will benefit him to be more stronger than ever. And notice how big Golovkin head is, I even heard from other comments (not in this community), that it is Kazakhs, juice, lol.

I agree with @FinneysTrueVision's analysis. This match will end with Canelo winning by a wide decision or a late stoppage. If Canelo had stamina problem due to the excess weight at 175 it might also happen to Golovkin. Golovkin is not big and he is used to fighting as a middleweight for the most part of his career. Additional weight on Golovkin might affect his stamina. And given his old age, the excess weight might also make him slower which will be dangerous to Canelo's powerful attacks.
28  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria to establish an economic zone which is crypto friendly with Binance on: September 16, 2022, 11:57:08 AM
Nigeria is now vying to become a major crypto hub in Africa. They should follow with Central African Republic which lawfully recognized bitcoin as a legal currency. Nigeria is a country with a big economy and crypto adoption will only encourage more foreign investors into the country.

I observed that there are many Nigerians in this forum. I also observed that there are many Nigerians that are into cryptocurrency groups in social media. And these move by the Nigerian government will also provide more opportunities to them.
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: September 15, 2022, 06:59:51 AM
Yes, in the first half Borussia Dortmund played quite well. They chose to play defensive football because they came as guests and they realized that Man City are a big team with dangerous attacks. The strategy from Borussia Dortmund seems to have worked and makes Man City look desperate. But after Man City scored the first goal, it made Man City more confident so they could really dominate the game.
Manchester city came from behind and trash borrusia Dortmund 2-1. It was a big win for city as Dortmund we're were really disappointed with the results they had. Not an easy game as city have won two of their games in the UEFEA. City will definitely qualify from their group stage and I hope Pep is aiming for something more tangible in the champions league which is the trophy. Manchester city have always been known for their incredible come-back both in the premier league and the champions league. Erling Haaland scoring against his former team, he didn't celebrate rather he apologized with his goal celebration.

After losing Haaland earlier it weakened Dortmund and I don't call them a real threat against the top European clubs. But they showed a fantastic game against Man City. They were defensive but they also had enough offense as I thought they will win the game at 1-0. Man City first goal came in late and I didn't expect it but it also opened the opportunity to attack more to close the game. Young Erling Haaland is a beast.
30  Economy / Economics / Re: Which city deserves to be the blockchain capital? on: September 13, 2022, 10:08:32 AM
I didn't knew London has more events than New York or Miami or Singapore. Even Rome at the third spot is new to me.

If I were to pick a city to become the blockchain capital I will favor New York. New York is the world's capital to stock market. Wall Street is there too. New York as a blockchain capital in the world would ignite the crypto market. Stock traders will become more exposed to cryptocurrencies and it won't take long before they will study it and then they will enter the crypto market also. New York will make crypto big.
31  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin is already in the future, i've been hiding for too long on: September 13, 2022, 08:25:42 AM
You are not alone. It was clear that many bitcoin investors sold cheap during 2018 because of fear. Now we have the chance to invest again before bitcoin reaches its old price and establish another all time high record. People are now smarter after their experiences. I started to buy little by little. I am doing the cost averaging slowly this time. The world is becoming difficult to understand and bitcoin is a great option. This is inevitable with the dollar and other currencies plummeting.

Big congratulations to Sri Lanka and to our Sri Lankan brothers here! Even if the nation is facing heavy economic problems, the national team didn't lost hope and continued their goal towards winning the Asian Cup. This is a big morale booster to the nation and its citizens. There is always hope if we continue to focus and to have that positive type of mindset.

Any bettors analysis on tomorrow's game between United States and Papua New Guinea?
33  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 12, 2022, 03:31:28 AM

It is the consequence of not developing his game. His game was the same since his rookie years and it is always based on his athleticism. Now that he is aging and losing that athleticism that he heavily relies on, his game is suffering. He never developed defense or any reliable perimeter or 3 points shooting. It all depends on this coming season. He should show that he can still play and adopt so he can still get another contract after his current contract expires. Otherwise, you will be right, he will have a hard time even securing a veteran's minimum contract. But let's see how will events turn on Westbrook's career.

All will be analyzed and decide this upcoming season. Whatever he comes out of the court will lead him to his next journey,

He's no longer in his prime and with a lot of rising talents, there's no assurance that he will be able to secure another contract
but if he again comes up strong, the chance is always possible for him to play with another team or he will be re-sign by the Lakers

We really don't know what's cooking is and how productive he can be, maybe a surprise development and adjustment coming from him.

Many players in the NBA developed their shooting skills while young and capable. Why Westbrook failed to develop his shooting before? Did he believe that his athleticism will last forever? I observed his ego is what stops him from becoming a complete package. The big question is his ability to change at 34 years old. This season is highly critical for his future NBA career as his contract is expiring.

Are we expecting the Lakers to begin this season with Russ?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Proof of Work (ETHW): The Next Big Thing? on: September 12, 2022, 01:28:10 AM
ethereum pow / ETHW now be traded on several exchanges https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum-pow/markets/
From $100 last month down to $30. Poloniex volume is over half a million dollars already which is good enough to hype a fork. It is early to judge the price and it's only IOU, there is always the chance for it to bounce back and increase if it can gather enough support. But if we base its today's price, Ethereum Classic is at $37.

Which coin is more reasonable to mine now using today's price? Mining ETHW has slight edge?
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gambling Companies: First Massive Bitcoin Adopters on: September 09, 2022, 02:07:13 PM
Actually, it was probably the drug sellers/users, right? On the darknet markets. And it totally makes sense — the fact that your money cant be locked up and is pseudonymous.

Seems to be a lot less viable today though, with chainalysis and such.

Agree, that most organizations with a black reputation like casinos evade taxes, it is convenient for them to use bitcoin in terms of anonymity, reliability, and speed of transactions.
I haven't included the underworld activities of course.

These casinos are with legitimate licenses. But I also find it strange that these countries that provided crypto casino with their licenses do not have laws calling bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as medium of exchange. Or are they letting casinos to just operate and use whatever kind of currencies or forms of materials and digital stuffs they deem acceptable?

I was happy that my guess was that Lunc would skyrocket now proven, I also profit more than 300% when I bought Luncak in April or 5 months ago, unfortunately I only bought around $ 150 and I planned to buy about $ 240 again because I was sure that 2022 Lunc would Entering the top 15 rank again and now it is ranked 24th.

You were not stressed by Luna's sudden meltdown early this year? I had some but I sold them when I had the time to earn a little to break-even. I can only find few people like you that continued to hold. And even more, you also expect for it to reach back to 15th.

I am feeling that this sudden pump and hype will end in the next several days and there will be another sell-out. But maybe i'm wrong and you will be rewarded handsomely for your guts to continue holding that coin.

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does staking even make any sense on: September 07, 2022, 07:57:51 AM
It is best that we keep our own coins in our hard wallets. But there is no wrong when people are staking even on decentralized platforms like Binance for example. There are risks but if people knew that then it is fine. If it is extra money then a thousand dollars earning $95 for a year is very good enough. We're talking about returns in contrast with banks very low yearly interests on our savings.

Instead of bashing people that staked their coins, why not share to us better ways to earn more?

39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: September 06, 2022, 11:31:01 AM
Which group do you think is the most difficult to predict?

I say Group C is the most difficult of all groups. Bayern, Barca and Inter all in the same group. Inter started slower this season in Serie but I know they will catch up later. And they will play harder during UCL games coz they know the competition is too high. And what's up with Bayern and Barca in the same group? Lewandowski and Mane will perform big to show their teams who's the better player.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 06, 2022, 11:02:09 AM
Andy Ruiz vs Luis Ortiz schedule was not normal. Big boxing events happened during Saturday nights but it was different. Andy Ruiz was reluctant in letting his hands go. He looks like saving his stamina for the late rounds and because of that Luis Ortiz was able to finish the whole twelve rounds. The fight was a draw if not for the three knockdowns by Andy Ruiz. Two judges had it 6 rounds each and the other judge had Ortiz seven rounds to Ortiz's five. I was amazed the fight attracted many fans.
