441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When to dump shitcoin? on: September 02, 2017, 09:31:09 AM
I put some $ into a coin a couple of months ago. And since then it's gone down a lot and stayed down. A deadline for a project update was recently met and advertised but the coin didn't even bump up. If I got out now I would lose about 20% of my initial investment.

How do you decide when it's time to dump a coin for a loss? I don't need the money but i see these other coins going up and i keep thinking about the opportunity cost of having my $ sitting in the shitcoin.

I have also gone such experience. My jaw was dropping at the thought that I am having losses and the rest of the alts are flying high, torn between cutting loss and jumping into other alts or holding tight and wait for the recovery. My experiences tell me that it is best to hold and avoid cutting loss. Everything in crypto trading is temporary. That's something we cannot deny.
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your favorite coin for investment on: September 02, 2017, 09:12:54 AM
Among the choices I would of course choose Bitcoin. Had the list not included Bitcoin, I would have had a hard time looking for the best. But because there is Bitcoin among them, there's no need to think rather hard. Bitcoin is still the best for investment for me.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for the hidden gem. Let's share ideas on: September 01, 2017, 10:15:54 AM
Hey guys.

I've been searching for hours to find a new project to throw another $1500 in.

My portfolio right now consists of mainly ARK, and a few other shitcoins not worth mentioning here, haha!
Anyway, I REALLY like Arks DPOS system, mainly because I don't have to have my computer running 24/7 to stake my coins.

I'm looking for a coin that has good fundementals, great roadmap, and a way to get passive income, without leaving my computer on. (So no traditional POS).

As far as I know the coins which DPOS is: ARK, LISK, RISE, NAV. I don't know any other coin, so if any of you guys know. Please enlighten me Smiley

It's extremely hard to figure out what I should invest in next. Hope some of you can help out.. Even though I know most of you guys will suggest coins you already hold.

Thanks for any help here..

If you are looking for a real gem, then do not just go to the exchanges. The coins there are not hidden gems anymore. They are already well-known and are in fact traded. You are mentioning some coins that are not hidden anymore although Rise, which is considered old already as it is more than 1 year old, surprised everyone with a 200% plus rise. If you want a hidden gem, try to search about Dent. Decide for your own of course but try to update yourself about it and perhaps you will agree with me.
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Need advice on $100k investment on: September 01, 2017, 09:35:00 AM
That is a huge money you are planning to invest. Bitcoin is the most secure and safe if you want to be assured that your huge investment will surely earn and not acquire losses instead. But if you really want to try invest into alts I would assure you that you choose the top 10. The ones that are trusted by big investors and companies because these are the ones that will last longer and will become more solid as time passes by. It is prudent if you will make your own research as to what are these though. I might be wrong if I name some specific coins.
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I need your advice, please on: August 31, 2017, 10:10:06 AM
Hello,

I want to make a new portofolio. I have 10k EUR and I don't know what crypto to get in my portofolio. I want only altcoins, but I want a rise with minimum 2x until December.
What do you think?

Thanks,
Adrian

You have a huge starting investment right there, bro. Don't worry. Your timeline is actually very long for a x2 target. You can go for DNT, ETC, ETH, SNT, OMG, ADX, CVC. You can actually choose the top 10 and I think they will all double in value by December. There is no need to worry as to the increase. December is far.
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DISCORD TO ACCEPT VERGE COIN PAYMENTS on: August 31, 2017, 09:47:48 AM

Verge is flying high! My god! I sold my own share way below 80 satoshis. This might double very soon. I hope after this high fly, the price will be dipping a little for other interested buyers.  Grin I will just wait for things to unfold in their own proper time before buying another during low price.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum, where will you go? on: August 30, 2017, 11:01:33 AM
$600 to $800 within the year is a humble prediction for Etherium's price. The end of 2017 is still 4 months to go and Etherium's price is already close to $400. That will be surpassed, I mean the $400 threshold, by September for sure. So there is still 3 months left, which is a long time for approximately a hundred dollars left before hitting the $600 figure.
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any new airdrop coins? on: August 30, 2017, 10:36:00 AM
Here is one that I am supporting theses days: Deeponion is giving free onions every week from their airdrop that will last 40 weeks! join and get onions from the Deeponion team https://deeponion.org/apply.php?ref=676934

why call it an airdrop? It's a signature campaign. Doesn't belong here.

You are hitting it right. I guess the free airdrop is confusing me a lot. Doesn't seem to be free. Doesn't seem to be an airdrop either. But be that as it may, they are claiming Deeponion an airdrop. So go ahead with it. The value is increasing big time. Lucky for those who have joined in their airdop/signature campaign.  Grin
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Vs. Ethereum on: August 30, 2017, 10:19:02 AM
Ethereum is a very good platform and you can expect very high returns from ethereum within an year or two. But WAVES is a project which can help you earn very very high profits from waves of you are ready to hold for five or so long years.

ETH has been here for a longer time than Waves and it has already established itself. Waves is younger and is still growing up a lot. Only time can tell when Waves will be as widespread and famous as ETH. What I know for sure is that Waves is going to be multiplying its value in the next few months.
450  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Where is my private key? on: August 30, 2017, 09:48:52 AM
hi all

I purchased a very very small amount of BT from localbitcoins and transferred it to bittrex. How do I find out my private key because I was thinking of trying this paper wallet thing and I think might need a private key for it?

You are not going to have your personal private key in your Bittrex account. Bittrex is not actually your personal wallet; it is an exchange or trading platform where you can exchange your BTC with other coins. If you are not doing some trading, you better pull out your BTC from Bittrex and store them in a wallet that provides you your personal key.
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are you using bitcoins for? on: August 29, 2017, 10:53:10 AM
The miners mine and hold, other mine and sell.

Investors and speculators buy, hold and sell.

You can buy random items in auctions and through the forums.

What are the reasons for the bulk of the bitcoin transfers? I read an article underlying the "dark side" of the internet and TOR network, and they seem to point out that bitcoins are now nearly the exclusive currency for the online "black market" (Note, they are not saying bitcoins are exclusively used for black market transactions)

What have you used bitcoins for?

Miner
Investor
Black Market
Other - explain

I am not involved in Bitcoin mining. That is too expensive for me to try doing. Neither am I involved in black market and deep web transactions. I am using Bitcoin simply as an investment and as a source of income for me to support my day to day needs.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Waves hold for longterm Good or Not? on: August 29, 2017, 10:15:35 AM
Dear friends,

I have 2 BTC - it's all my money.
Should i buy and hold Waves coin for longterm (end of 2017)
Thank you so much

Go ahead if you are really planning to focus on a single coin. Waves will more than double by the end of this year for sure. But if I were you I wouldn't do that. Try dividing it by four. Invest a total of .5 BTC per coin. Include waves of course. You can add to it, Verge, ETC, Siacoin, and Status.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Favorite Altcoins on: August 29, 2017, 09:50:32 AM
My favorite now is Waves. Waves is going strong and doing some developments of their project. The Waves Dex is getting into form already. Not yet perfect though but soon enough this trading platform will be full of tradable coins already. Waves will be reaching 10$ each in the next few months.
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum a threat to BTC??? on: August 26, 2017, 04:42:59 AM
I heard that the ethereum is much better than the BTC that in fact is the same as BTC but improved and that is the reason why it is rising a lot of price.

Is the Ethereum really better than the BTC? Do you believe that the Ethereum will reach the prices of BTC and even more that will surpasses  the price of BTC, or that even will replace BTC?

What are your thoughts and predictions for Ethereum ??

Regards

If there was a specific time that ETH was indeed treated as some sort of a threat to BTC, then it was very short-lived and then it became simply an insignificant part of history in crypto. The threat has to be effectively trashed as there is no more real basis for it really.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BAT] - Why nobody talks about her? on: August 25, 2017, 05:21:19 AM
I have BAT Tokens, but since its launch the price does not rise.
Anyone have any idea why?   Huh Cry
It is still on rank 33 which gives a positive sign that it is making its way to top of the list. It is seeing significant decrease in price day by day, not much but little. I think its dev team is not focusing much on it or may be they have some other plans for now  Undecided . The team should really focus on developing it and only then i think it will be of huge demand in the market. Unless there is no demand the price is not gonna rise up much. Better invest in some other potential coin rather than investing it.

There are still some posts in their twitter account every now and then. That means this is still working and the project's team is still working. BAT's price is cheap right now. While there are movements, there is no pattern of upward trend.
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie to Altcoins on: August 25, 2017, 05:04:34 AM
Hi there, I'm new to altcoins. Anyone has some usefull tips? Or a strategy that worked for you? Smiley

Will you please clarify. What altcoin tips do you want? Regarding earning altcoins? You may go to Marketplace (altcoins) section in this forum and then go to Bounties (altcoins) section and browse over the different threads. Regarding trades? Buy those that are cheap and then hold. But choose only those cheap but functioning coins.
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Stratis going up. Great. on: August 24, 2017, 01:41:18 AM
If it gets listed on Korean exchanges, as is the hints being dropped now, it looks like that could substantially increase value.

This is just the beginning for Stratis. I have been waiting for this coin to rise. I was impatient when there was no movement and had to cut loss. I bought back at 134k sats. It is still gaining some more grounds. The korean exchange is huge.
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin survive? on: August 24, 2017, 01:11:18 AM
After there is a BCC can the bitcoin survive or bitcoin will be much more up the price after this
What do you think about this?

Admittedly, Bitcoin Cash is getting stronger. We do not know in the next couple of years whether the same scenario we have now is still the thing. Right now, I believe Bitcoin is going to survive and will probably reach more than $5000 in December.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Will Be Worth $1,000 in Couple of Years: Aragon Co-Founder on: August 23, 2017, 01:22:12 AM
Everything, I mean those that have real-life uses and top coins, will be worth x3 to x5 in a couple of years. x3 to x5 is even very low a speculation. ETH right now is worth more than $300 so it is expected, if everything will run from here smoothly.
460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin truly decentralized? on: August 23, 2017, 12:45:25 AM
Yes, Bitcoin is decentralized without question. The very nature of how it is coded is such that it is decentralized... there is no possible way that it could not be, as each node must approve of every transaction... without exception.
Correct but the reason people are worried about that is because they can clearly see that mining is centralized, a handful of persons control exclusively almost all the hash power, but I think that as bitcoin becomes more successful more people will begin to compete against the current mining giants.

Good point. The mining team has a great stake in sketching the future of Bitcoin. These giant Bitcoin miners can decide as a group and the Bitcoin Core team will have to listen to them considering that these giants will severely affect the fate of Bitcoin if they will decide to leave BTC once and for all.
