Can you quote and agree to my bet above please.

Also, to clarify, the passthrough operators are customers of pirate and must be paid back for you to win the bet. The customers of those passthroughs are not part of this bet as you are not making any claims on what the operators do with the payout if they receive it.

I can definitely agree to that. Quote this please.

would you be willing to act as an intermediate? in case I win, I'll give you 10% of the earnings (say 'five btc').

It's interesting to see that even in this bet, which is supposed to be making a point against -over- speculation, I've already been accused of at least 3 things, none of which are true. I'm just sitting here, completely uninvested in Pirate or any passthru, willing to take a personal risk on money in order to impose a tax on the people who wish to clutter the forums with emotional wolf crying. Nothing more, nothing less.

Question: how will you decide if pirate really paid back his investors?

1. what happens if he pays back the small investors at the expenses of the largest ones, and pretends that those that have not been paid never invested in his fund?

2. what happens if he pays back all investors, and some users pretend to have been scammed, just in order to destroy your bet?

Well, the rules of the thread are that he pays back as he described in his post. I am not sure how more specific I could get. I obviously can't include all the passthrus because that's up to the owner of the passthru, but if he paid out everyone that he is directly responsible to by the terms they agreed on and by the terms of his posts, that will be pretty easy to figure out won't it?

can you post a link to the post you are mentioning?
is there a page with all the addresses involved?

From that page, I don't see how it will be easy to figure out if he repaid his investors.
perhaps that was explained in his OP, but now the OP is not visible.

Does anyone else have any resources for Pirate threads (there are so many of them now it's kind of difficult) that would show who he has to pay back and what the current terms are?

Also ThomasV, you're an established user. You might want to take el_rlee's offer and let him send you 50BTC to wager with on his behalf. You have nothing to lose regardless.

I'm willing to serve as an itermediate to non-established members to bet.
They will need to send me the funds to hold on escrow.
My price will be 50% of the proceeds in case you win and Matthew lose.
If you lose, I don't get a dime and will pay Matthew the funds I'm holding.
Winning bets will also be paid to an address under my control, from which I'll send 50% to the bettor.

Anyone willing to accept those terms PM me for a deposit address and I'll post the bet in the thread.

My 50% offer is more generous. Especially because I think anyone betting against Matthew is going to lose, so, most likely I have nothing to gain from doing this besides headaches and lost time.

??

His offer is that he will let you send bitcoins through him as a passthru and he keeps 50% of the winnings if the person wins.
I think el_rlee is just looking for someone to do what psy is offering, but looking to pay 10% not 50%. Unless I'm completely misunderstanding it, psy's offer is -worse- than el_rlee's proposed offer.

Is there any deadline? or can it be delayed indefinitely as long as Pirate doesn't admit to not going to pay up everybody?

You can -easily- beat psy by offering 51% of the winnings. el_rlee's proposed fee is 10%. I think you might have misunderstood.

no,I was just being ironical, given the enormous fee proposed by psy  Smiley
I am not interested in doing that
