Reckless? Matthew?

BTW, Ribuck, are you coming to London in September? I just hope that one of you will pay the winner 100 BTC there and I'll get myself a free dinner or beer by virtue of being close by.
Vladimir, I would be delighted to buy you a dinner or beer*, however I don't think I can get to London for the conference. Any other weekend I would be there, but I have a guest visiting that weekend.

*provided the restaurant or bar accepts bitcoins

Considering the high probability of fraud from newbie sockpuppets, only established 100+ post users will be allowed to participate.

Fair enough. Would you be willing to accept bets from newbies if we pay our stake upfront. In the event of default you return double?

No risk to yourself, and everyone can check in the blockchain to show that you made good on every lost bet.

Yes, but only if you go through someone else, because I cannot change the rules mid-game like this or I'd never hear the end of it. I should have thought of a better method in the beginning. My bad.

I'll do this free of charge if you like - send me the BTC and I'll send it straight to Matthew.

You get 1 BTC from Matthew in that case.

The title confused me too; I'm used to fraction odds!

At this point (imo) paying out does not make this enterprize anything short of a ponzi. Prove me wrong, please.

Bitcoin trinkets now on my online store: btc trinkets.com <- Bitcoin Tiepins, cufflinks, lapel pins, keychains, card holders and challenge coins.

err, what?
In a ponzi "payout" is impossible
If you mean because he is using the funds FOR WHAT HE BORROWED THEM FOR... no, no that is not a ponzi

200% is right, but they are not taking into account that they are holding half of that 200% instead of paying it for the bet before hand.

If he's been operating a ponzi for 8 months and paying out interest from the deposits, where would he make up the short fall from in order to return the funds?

If you are betting twice as much as the other party 1:2 odds (that is waht you are doing right? if someone bets 1 BTC you pay 2 BTC if you lose, otherwise the title is really confusing)

Under normal circumstances, that would be true, however given the large amount of money we're talking about that he has collected, it would be quite impossible for him to pay out his rates and still be considered a ponzi. Anyway, this is not a discussion thread for more people to share "opinions". There are plenty of those elsewhere. This is a thread for wolf cryers to pay the tax for spamming their baseless accusations, and Pirate is still the only one who can prove you wrong.

On that note, if you're positive he is a ponzi, you'd be silly not to make some easy money off of me by betting. If you're neutral on it, good for you. That's where you should be.

Title should read: "100% Bet Payout if Pirate Fails" or something... 200% does not compute Tongue

edit: I am more neutral, but why not get in on some of the fun around here?

No, because he is not collecting the bets, if someone bets 1btc and wins, he sends 1btc, that person now has 2btc, 200%)

Title changed to: "I'm giving 100%(x2) away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud".

I think that explains enough for both sides.
