Well, good on you Matthew for doing this, but I must say I'm SHOCKED that none of biggest blow hards have even popped their heads in here (Vlad aside, and I assume he's not willing to put his money where his big mouth is as I haven't seen that quoted).

In fact, considering all the people posting about how this is definitely a big scam, I'm SHOCKED that so little have actually taken this bet.

(hint:  I'm not shocked).

Congrats,  you're all pointless keyboard warriors with no courage to back up your convictions.   Fancy that.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  Respect to Matthew.

Though now how he determines which people have paid him to his address (assuming he wins) when multiple people are betting the exact same amount I'm not sure....

+1. Good point. I'll have to PM everyone with a different deposit address. (Why doesn't Bitcoin have a "memo" line yet?  Cry)

It used to, but it was removed because it bloated the blockchain.

Just sayin.
Witnessed.

Should also sign it too, so the forum admins can't modify it.

And don't forget to take a picture of yourself posting it with a shoe on your head.

Matt, I might have missed this but do I actually have to believe pirateat40 is a fraud or can I use this as a hedge? I'm in neither camp belief-wise and don't want to acquire either label.

Interesting. If someone else posts a double-or-nothing bet, but in the opposite direction, taking both bets equally is break-even. If someone posts a bet with better odds than double-or-nothing, arbitrage could be done to take an ensured profit (minus risk of default).

I think you could bet half of your deposit and then be guaranteed half of your deposit

Think Matthew will not default on this bet?

Put your money where your mouth is.

A)
I'm willing to give you an extra 50% extra on your money (you get your bet back +50%) if indeed everybody on this list is satisfied with their payout from Matthew.  As insurance for this bet I will put 10% of your coins aside in case I run away, so you will at least get 10% back (before the 50%).

B)
To hedge you can make a bet against this bet.  I am willing to give you 100% extra on your money if not everybody who bets on bet A is satisfied.

To bet, post here a unique amount with your username and return address, and which bet (A or B), and send your coins to

1HS19u8ptdomn2j89hjsYifBDRvjPvi1W9

Think hashman will default on his bet? Same conditions apply. I'm also willing to take on bets that I will default on these bets too.

Actually, I won't but I am wondering how many levels of betting insurance will be offered before we know the outcome to the pirate saga.

Guys, I'm happy to read all your counter bets and such (it's fun!) but I've reported them all as being off-topic. Take it to a new thread if you don't mind. We don't need any confusion here. Confusion leads to anger. Anger leads to hatred. Hatred leads to the dark side.

You don't have to -believe- either way, but the only bets allowed here are ones against pirate (i.e. in favor of him being a ponzi).

Not quite what I meant. I'm 15 btc short of having my original investment returned intact. If I wager 15 btc then I either have my original investment (if pirate defaults) or my return on investment is 15 btc less than it would have been (if pirate honours his commitments).

...
Anyone (including myself) who renigs on their bets will be labeled a scammer on the forums.
...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that wouldn't be the first time for you, would it?

Don't get me wrong...I'm glad to see you shook the scammer label which I believe I remember being pinned on your chest, and that you've moved on to your current position here.  I don't think that bitmole was a scammer but do think that he was being flaky and in the wrong on that issue with whatever-his-name-was.

Of course this is perfectly allowed. You want to bet 15 BTC that he won't pay. It's none of my business what the true agenda is behind that, so long as we both know that either one of us will pay in the event of losing. Go for it!

Alrighty then. I wasn't sure since this is more of a "money where your mouth is" type thing and I didn't know if you cared about it being used as a financial instrument or not.

I'm surprised the bets haven't amounted to much. Perhaps someone knows something I don't. I still doubt the price fluctuations have been enough to get all the coins he needs. The fact that he's closing and still needs to manipulate the market to me means that he decided to shutdown before he had all the coins he needed (someone please correct me if I have the timeline wrong).

Hardforks aren't that hard. It’s getting others to use them that's hard.

I'll do 10.  I don't believe we'll see a default, but I'm willing to give Matthew a few coins as a thank you for offering this up.  If the shit does hit the fan, my signature address is fine.

Or maybe there has been so much FUD flying you're just seeing ghosts.  Anyway, let's not get into who is and isn't manipulating whom.  This thread is for bets.
