Interesting, i just would like to ask if there is a way to speed up the block download rather then use the bootstrap. Maybe something can be done regarding masternodes ? Is it possible to have an overall check list of what had been done, and what is still to be done ?

To be honest I am not going to do with current code base and blockchain... blockchain is healthy and moving perfect but since it brought us so many problems we have to replace it. We should be doing it at the end of January-February.
However, after Christmas I will publish a fresh bootstrap file so just stay tuned.

Great Cheesy
So the whole project code will be changed ? doest it means that a swap will have to be done ? I am impatient to see this Cheesy

Yes, full coin swap will be performed. However, users will not have to do anything besides wallet update, same addresses will be used (and even current wallet.dat should be compatibile).

How many masternodes are active? My node sees only three MNs by some reason...

I am on a block 735771, "8bitd getblockhash 735771" gives "1251c9c4a722221f631c5729b119695ef49ccc9d7cabe0112ac0719b4a895296".

Am I on the correct chain?

So does mine. Personally I still have not restored my MNs because of efforts with syncing and incoming swap. I see I am not alone with this unwillingness.

Ok, thanks...

Here comes another interesting question: looking on that block and all the others, one can see there is no masternode reward!

Masternode rewards are not payed at all, not sure if the main stakers use modified wallets, or they do not see the masternodes by some reasons. Maybe that is the reason why there are not many active MN's...?

This can happen at least in following cases:

- modified / old wallet with masternode payments disabled
- masternode list propagation issue, if given node does not receive MN list then it will not submit a payment

Since masternode payments are not enforced then even if your node sees masternodes it will accept non-masternode blocks gracefully. I would ask more people to stake to minimize this effect, however it might encourage more people to join staking party without masternode payments... So to be honest I prefer to focus on new chain instead of improving anything related to this outgoing one.

If anyone is about to run a masternode I recommend staking instead.

Yep, it looks like MN propagation issue, as regular unmodified wallet does that too. I stopped my MN and am running stakung node for last few days, and my wallet does not pay MN fee too, though I did not tinker with that part of code... "CreateCoinStake: Failed to detect masternode to pay" is the message.

Staking without MN payment is much more profitable Grin.

I definitely agree, better to polish the new code instead. I hope it will run faster than existing one btw, the current code takes ages to sync, I assume mostly due to high CPU resource usage on block validation (as even loading from clean bootstrap is really slow).

It seems that Nobody takes care of this thread. This coin has been down deeply.
I'm tired of 8bit blockchain. it's so slowly upgraded on the blockchain and I stopped my wallet .
Dev should find the way to upgrade your project .

Goodbye folks.

Soooo, after some interesting times working with some pretty cool people in this community, I'm going to call it quits.

Simply put, as I've become involved in some other projects, I no longer have the time or patience to think about 8bit anymore.
(I've been "avoiding" it for a few months anyway at this point)

As the hosting for the 8bit faucet isn't free, And 8-bit-party didn't use the greater 8bit site I wrote anyway, I'm going to be ripping down the site asap and the server itself will be dark asap as well.

If anyone would like the code for the faucet, I'll be happy to provide it.

It's been a good ride folks, and the best of luck to all of you.
Cheers.

This is definitely brilliant idea to keep allZuckedUp's stuff online, although I am not able to handle it. With my currently extremely limited "crypto" time I work on the new 8BIT code exclusively, no other, even related (sub)projects can be included to my task list. I completely suspended even my pro bono activities related to scammer called mastertrader777.

So if we all agree that it is something worth efforts we have to find someone who will migrate & host it.

I can hold them and distribute them using github, i may be able to rehost but not immediatly as my servers are aleready working on other projects. I am sure we will find people to help with the host requirments.

Can someone give me the lowdown on this coin...is it dead or dying. It doesn't look like a wallet is working, at least it is still on Bittrex but is there anything coming down the pipeline. Also, how many coins are officially outstanding? About 700 K Is that right? Thanks for the info in advance Wink

I am asking because I am interested in the coin- that's a good thing right?

It's very healthy. We had several forks in the past, finally it runs smoothly for many months. However, code base will be replaced and all coins will be swapped into a new chain.

The wallet is fine, both on Bittrex and Cryptopia. Yobit wallet is out of sync, but that's pretty common scenario there.

We need to ping coinmarketcap again, coin supply is approx 1.1M.

Hm just found the lowest lowest marketcap masternode coin, i thought synx was the lowest marketcap masternode coin, but then just saw that 8bit also have masternode only number 317 in CMC, would be interesting to see whether 8bit will follow all the others masternode pump or not, its already starting to move a bit tho...

So, what differentiate dark masternode and normal masternode? Also is the development still active? I read that there will be coin swap and you will replace the code base with the new one to fix all 8bit problem? Is it true? If its true, then i guess, it will be some kind of revolution then? Grin
