Guns are everywhere, in countries where their access is limited their seems to be much less violence, though it still happens.  I think the approach should be to discourage them, not allow advertisements, etc.

Now that guns are readily available to the governments of all countries, the reason governments don't make slaves of their people is 3-fold:
1. Their people have guns to protect themselves from their government;
2. The governments are afraid of the countries who allow guns;
3. The governments are afraid that if they act too harshly with their people, their people will start importing guns from people the countries where guns are allowed.

Some of this is why there is peace in gun control countries.

Guns do not kill people, people kill people. Now I am all for the 2nd amendment, but i feel the purchase of certain rifles should be banned, I.E AR15's and etc. Bolt action rifles would be fine, but anything automatic should either be banned, or go through a very vigorous test and stages in order to obtain a license to buy.

Yes, well obviously we wont be able to stop the illegal sales of weapons, but I feel alot of people hold onto their weapons and their clean record to later on cause a tragedy. Like with most of the massive shootings in the US, most of the people who committed the horrid actions, had a clean record and have never been arrested, but still posses a AR 15 or rifle of some sort.

I think is fair for people to use guns, these who killt innocent by gun holding deserve to be killed also.
And of course people without papers shouldn't be able to hold a gun.

Why should be against gun control? First of all guns is not a weapon it is a tools . Coz guns has a benifits like we can use it for our self defense . And also for me it is depends for us if how we use it . When people kill, they do not have any feelings because they do not know any thing about love, compassion, liberty and promises. The only way those persons can get these feelings is when they come from family, friends and people who are close to them. Now, having a gun is not a problem; the problem is what the people feel when they use one.

From another recent post:

...
Speaking for myself, I'll warn any kooky Kabbalist douchebags that if they come to me with their stupid fucking Noahide laws I'll stick those things three feet up their ass with no lubavich.  I doubt I'm alone, and I suspect that this is one of the main reasons why 'the Jews' are so front and center in trying to dis-arm us American peeps.

Guns and other ammunition are the weapons made by humans to kill humans. There is no way one can say guns are useful to us, the greed of human has brought us to such a point where we cannot trust our own race of humans.

It's just dangerous. Who needs a gun despite policeman, or other professionals? We live in a dangerous world, yes, but that doesn't mean that we all have to be dangerous.
I personally live in France, gun possession is not allowed, and I sleep very well at night.
When I see American fighting for their right to own a gun, I just wonder why? There are so many mass shooting in the USA, families are destroyed every day because of that. So why do you want to keep this way?
Do they really want a world surrounded by fear for their children, wondering when they will go to the cinema if a crazy guy will shoot at them?
This madness has to stop.

The point isn't all the danger or the ethics of owning guns. The point is how to get rid of guns, and if it is really a good idea.

A 250 pound muscleman can easily mug and rape and murder a 90 pound granny. But if Granny has a gun, she has a chance.

If the people murdered by mass shootings had had guns, they would have had a chance to protect themselves from mass-murdering gunmen.

You can't take the guns away from all the bad guys. We even need our guns for protection from rogue cops and military people.

Only public safety institutions should wear guns, no other man or woman!

That "public safety Institutions" killed millions in the 20st century. And they will do it again

I believe that gun control will not work.

First, I believe that guns are not weapons, they are tools. How they are used is up to the person holding it. Guns themselves can't do anything it is the person with the gun that decides where the bullet goes.

Gun control will not stop violence because a violent person doesn’t need a gun to be violent. Taking guns away from violent people will not make them less violent. It might make them more violent. Violent people can use anything to be violent. Taking guns away from violent people is no more than just taking one out of a thousand more ways to hurt, rob, or kill you.

I agree! Ppl kill Ppl. And i disagree. Taking guns away from violent ppl will reduce consequences. Its not same if some1 hits u with a fist or lunatic granny shoots you with a gun. In some point of time, we can all go dark side...
The Arms Licensing Arrangement should be similar to a driving license - a psycho test, a criminal record, a course for safe work, and drills.

possession of weapons is an important stopping effect for potential attackers. Perhaps no one wants to find himself in a situation where he faces two or more thieves in his home, but if that happens, it's good to be armed with more than a kitchen knife.

Gun control is necessary and stringent laws need to be passed. Arms usage should be for personal protection  only and within the perimeter of your own home. That being said, only smaller arms should be available for the public.
Why are Automatic and semi-automatic weapons being licenced to public or veterans are beyond me. Even if it is for a recreational purpose, its a problem.
A smaller arms is enough for personal protection. Bigger guns and ammunition and for any other reason is just an excuse to satisfy a political and mental problem.

To me, it is a threat to my freedom. Knowing that anyone who has a gun can carry it to a public gathering restricts my freedom.

The only result in gun control is that honest citizens will remain unarmed in front of well armed criminals

The U.S. Constitution allows guns, but it was never envisioned that guns could be as advanced as humans have made them in just the last few decades. There should be some regulations on accessibility and safety, but I do not believe there should be an outright ban.

In my opinion, the purpose of a gun was to kill or hurt someone. In Japan, gun was strictly banned and as a result their crime rate decreases. I am not saying that there is no criminal in that country but they were doing great in their fight against criminals. I'm not really a fan of guns. When a person is aggravated and he has a gone, most likely he will think about using it and that is were the problem is. The thought of using it can lead to something unavoidable, possibly murder. It is not right for civilians to have a gun, only the people with a badge has the right to have it and if possible, no one should ever had it. Peace.
