Did he specifically said "a billion"? that seems like too much of a prediction. I think the textual quote was "bitcoin will either be a lot of be worthless in the future", I dont think he never gave an actual value prediction for 1 BTC.

That kinda breaks my heart a bit. The only reason I got into this was what Satoshi wrote in 2009 on 4chan  - 'U iz gonna be WELL fuckin' rich. At da least 50 million smackeroonies per coin, biyatches. Yee HAW.'

He didn't write that? Damn.
Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

OP has a point though when he says not to convert bitcoins into fiat if it ever reaches, say, $10.000. If it ever reaches that, more merchants will also be integrating bitcoin into their stores.
You will basically be able to buy almost everything with Bitcoins, and I could also see some governments embracing the cryptocurrency.

No I am sorry he did not specifically say a billion, he did not define any particular value of bitcoin otherwise everybody would be waiting with a stop watch about when bitcoin hits a billion dollars and crib about how satoshi is a scammer.

I think it is a bad idea. You see many people brought at 1000+, if they missed to sell at correct time then they all are now in huge loss. So when you invest then keep you eye on your investment always.

If you are here long term it should matter $100 up or down. That's nothing compared to 10 years from now, thats why I dont understand people panicking over it daily.

In future, you can mortgage it and get a fiat loan to spend

I think to take more advantages one should sell when they have a decent profits and no need to wait for long time because future of bitcoin is not very clear.

New technology generally takes a long time to adapt. Consider the transition from VHS to DVDs. At first no one wanted to buy a DVD player or even seen it's value. While the future of bitcoin is not fully clear, I am sure it is hear to stay. It's technological potential is profound.

Signatures? How about learning a skill... I don't care either way. Everybody has to make a living somehow.

yes if you argue with market in investment then market will crush you and wou will also become a bag holder.
just go with the flow.
If i have to take decision then i will also sell my bitcoins after rising of prices and keep half of them and rest will be sold by me.

Your correct for that no need to keep the bitcoins forever thinking it will go up always. Clever people will sell when they think they have made a decent profit from their investments.

I think it is wise to hold some bitcoin in your portfolio but not necessary to keep it all because there are too many manipulators now in the markets..so just keep in Bitcoin what you can afford to keep as a high risk investment.

market manipulation isn't always a bad thing. it allows us to buy in at low levels if they push the price down, and it allows us to sell at high levels if they want it to go up. you just need to know when to get in and use their manipulation in your advantage.

yeah man, bitcoin is adopted and known to new people only because trade keeps taking place and word of mouth is stronger than anything else, people might often discuss the awesomeness of this currency Wink Just kidding, I believe in saving what must be saved but I like the idea of investing in things which peak my attention and multiplying what I have. So far, so good Smiley

Title is a little exaggerated in my opinion. In reality we all waiting for bitcoin to reach some ridiculous high price and the exchange it for something 'real'.
Don't kid yourself boys and girls, you don't want to take your coins to grave or give it to your grandchildren. So I would say rather "Never say never" in this case.
