Ya I used to play poker, participate in HYIPs, and buy Penny stocks. I was used to everything trending towards $0 and losing 70% of its value at the drop of a hat. So in April 2013 I bought the bottom of the great crash to $50, perfectly at $50.1. I then sold at $55. I was very happy with my 10% profit and finally not losing. That is until I watched it keep going and was at $170 just a couple weeks later.

Not buying when the price hovered around 90$. Was pessimistic that time about virtual currency.

Well that is just a minor mistake in my opinion, many people out there are risking their bitcoins with gambling, trading and even investing even if they aren't sure if it is legit or not! but truly buying bitcoin is needed when the time is right and the value is lower!

which makes me still regrets to this day is when I sell some of my bitcoin lot when the price  $ 1,000

This is actually not a big mistake. Or at least for now. Selling at 1000 USD per coin is actually something what some of the Bitcoiners here wish for.

Not buying when the price hovered around 90$. Was pessimistic that time about virtual currency.

I know about Bitcoin when the price was around 50 USD per coin. I did not bought it because I do not have the ability to purchase things online yet. This is really a big mistake if you can purchase Bitcoin but do not do so. Anyway, welcome to the virtual currency world. You're not late. Smiley.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Defaulting on having Bitcoin in the picture early 2009, but not willing to load my computer with "unnecessary" hash-loads eating up my resources and making my hardware potentially break down faster (due to heat development)...

My worst mistake has been to keep them in Mintpal exchange wallet, forgetting to transfer them in the principal one. Mintpal died one week after this stupid oversight.

Yeah! because bitcoins price now will not go back again to its affordable price, we can only buy low now with altcoins but its very risky as some of them are scam. If you buy bitcoins now maybe you can still earn income when the price hits again $1,000. This will have a good possibility because of the coming halving.

I'd say my worst mistake was loaning coins to friends back in the day. Some of them stopped talking to me after defaulting

Biggest mistake is gambling it, when I should've just held it.  Given a long enough time you will always lose.  For me that losing time seemed to always come sooner than for other people.  I've had it, no more risking it big.

So as I, gambling have really emptied my bitcoins that time and to think that I could already make a big profit with today's current price have I invested it or just put into my wallet and hold. I will never do the same mistakes again, until now I gamble but with a maximum amount of what I can afford to lose.

Edited (27 May 2016): This thread was moved from Bitcoin Discussion to Off-topic by someone with the ability - not me.
I am not going to post in meta because I do not want trouble. Hopefully someone with a much higher position will look into this matter.

What's the worst mistake you did with your Bitcoin? It can vary from starting to use Bitcoin to buying dumped Altcoin to gambling.

The worst mistake I made with Bitcoin is... Buying cloud mining hashrate. I bought 0.02 GH/s CEX.IO hash rate voucher at SEOClerk for $2 USD - or maybe $1 USD. I thought with 0.02 GH/s, I would be making a profit in half a year.. And I was wrong.

Well, I bought using the free five dollars coupon. So that does not count as making a mistake with Bitcoin. However, the slow profit lead me to buying hashing power from CEX.IO and later on.. ZeusHash using the Bitcoin I earned from signature campaign.. Again, I thought I would be making profit in a few months. Till today, I'm sure I have not make any profit from both the company yet. CEX.IO stopped their cloud mining operation and.. ZeusHash.. What do you think.?

Edited (15 May 2016):

First edit since this thread was posted. Anyway, after reaching more than 100 pages (103 to be exact), today I will list down some common ones.

1. Gambling
2. Not knowing Bitcoin earlier.
3. Participating in HYIP & Wrong trading technique (both Altcoin and day trading).
4. Sending to wrong address & lost of wallet.
5. Cloud mining & scammed trade.

me i invested on a hyip that is rated as scam haha cause i invested first before i reseach about the site then i see almost all of result saying that site is a scam then wrong trading technique i ask other people on the site what is best coin then they answered me then i buy then suddenly i noticed that the price of the coin i buy is going down continuesly then i sell it at lowest price cause i near scam i lost almost half of my fund

I have done many mistakes with my bitcoins. But only three things that i can accept that ive done.First one is gambling my bitcoins to earn and being greedy at gambling sites. And other one is investing all my bitcoins on a new investment site and end bribg scam and empty and have nothing to start with.
yeah that's the most common in bitcoin users I often see people tell stories of defeat and their losses in the investment scam sites and gambling? they are gambling with the greedy and do not think about the risk thereafter ? so that is worst mistake for they

gambling is very risky and that is the 1st mistake of the bitcoin users because they lose so much money within a minute of playing in just one click, think before you click  Wink

My mistake was that I didn't buy bitcoin last year when the price was $220 if I would have bought at that time I would have already doubled my profits.

If you starts to think this way, you can feel that you made mistake because you also didn't hear about Bitcoin beforew and didn't buy it for $150, $ 100, $50 and so on, you can continue in this way until the very beginning of BTC.
In the future, in 10 or 20 years, someone will regret that he/she didn't buy Bitcoin for $220 or $400 but for $1000 or $5000 Smiley
Don't complain, you will still make profit with BTC.

Yeah, you can always make profit from bitcoin whatever the price you get in. The important thing is, you know bitcoin now and you can buy now. Right now, the price is still very good and you can still make good profit out of it even just by holding your bitcoins for a few years. If not, you can trade and make even more profit.
