We have 7 games later. The most appealing to watch is the Thunder against the Rockets. Those two teams had been playing phenomenal basketball this season. The Rockets might be the 5th in the Western conference but they are just 1 win away to tie with other teams above them.

The Rockets have an edge in this matchup since OKC is on a back-to-back game, meaning fatigue could be a factor, so Houston needs to come out aggressive and physical to take advantage of that because once OKC gets into rhythm, they’re tough to stop... just like how they dominated the second half against the Spurs yesterday.

OKC is also really strong at home, and while the Rockets still have a decent record, they haven’t been the same team since VanVleet’s injury. That’s probably the biggest reason why Houston might struggle to get a win here.

I am for Thunders on this game but cannot deny that fact that you have mentioned that the Rockets has got what it takes and they're close to it as well.

I guess the fact that many of their big men are injured is the reason why the Mavericks are slowly going down in the standings.

As much as I hate this trade, I guess I can say that we haven't seen the best of the new Mavericks yet. There are many that are frustrates with trading Luka which is your franchise player, but can we look at the bigger picture at least? Not saying that I'm agreeing with Nico Harrison on this one, but can we wait for this new Mavericks to play as a whole, and if they still mess up then we can say that the trade really is the worst thing a Mavericks GM did in the whole history of the franchise. Give it at least one season then if that fails, that's the time when Nico Harrison must step down as their GM. Well, that's my opinion though.

As for the Lakers, it's good to see now that they're in the 2nd seed (tied with Denver), but still the race around the 2nd-5th seed is very close (1.5 games separating 2nd and 5th seed). There's no need to be complacent if you're the Lakers, but it's good that ever since they got Luka, it's an uphill for them as they're on a winning streak.

Ya, you can't just trade your franchise player for a guy that immediately gets injured and expect your team to not take a hit in the standings.  Losing Anthony Davis immediately was a pretty big eye opener for the Mavericks ownership I think.  They could go from winning the Western Conference last year to not making the playoffs this year.  All while losing their best future prospect.  Dallas is undergoing a lot of business changes in the organization though.  I understand why they didn't want to shell out an extra 100 million dollars to hang onto their superstar.

For sure they see the status of AD but they just try to gamble their future with them. But everything go to worst when unexpectedly they experience bad injury in his first game as Mavs player. If they missed to reached on playoffs this year for sure their organization in huge trouble and those dumb management including Nico and new majority owner would regret their decision to trade their franchise player.

To bad for them for avoiding $100m and now they are struggling to have a win streak. Let see if they can defeat the Kings since if they lose this will cause another huge upset to the fans especially they see Lakers continuously winning wince Luka is been traded their.

Man nico is in some deep mud right now.  Another recemt trade quentin grimes AND phillys second round pick to philly for caleb martin.  Martin has yet to suit up and quemtin grimes just dropped a 44 piece on golden state in a rare philly win.  Nico gambled his career and looks like it might not work out for him.  No way he gets another gm job after this.

Do you think though that the owner of Mavs will continue to trust him 100% with this kind of trade that he has been doing?

And it's really hurt the team though, again, specially with the Luka trade. Just imagine if Luka comes back to play with them, they could be the one having this winning streak? And then the Lakers with AD's injury again, could have been suffering although they still have Lebron but we all know that AD is their primary offense and defense too. So it's hard to see them in that kind of winning streak that Luka is giving them.

So who knows if Nico has still has his job secure in the next season.

Nico will not do that kind of trade without the approval of the owner. He just made a case on why Luka needs to be traded that’s why the owner approved this trade. It’s impossible for the owner not being notified or ask for approval for this blockbuster traded since Luka is the current face of Mavs.

Probably, Nico value Davis as not injury prone and pure skill which in a sense Davis will be valuable on Mavs since they already have Kyrie if Davis will be healthy on whole season.

If Davis manage to snap on his injury risk, I think Mavs will bounce back and can easily beat Lakers current roster that doesn’t have defense.

Yes, I know that the owner has the final decision, but still Nico works under him and no one is safe in their careers in the NBA. Maybe trading Luka might have cause friction between him and other players and that makes the environment toxic that the owner himself must have to make that decision to fire him.

Even though Kyrie is there, Luka is still their franchise player, no question about it.

But Nico relationship with Luka though is something, that he is willing to trade him and now AD injured himself that might hurt them in the long run specially if he can't play in the playoff or not 100% as compare to Luka who is doing what he do best, help the team to win, and put up triple double and MVP numbers. I think you could make a serious case for it. Oklahoma City has outperformed quite a bit, so I could see their coach getting it. Even the Houston Rockets seem to have done a lot without a whole lot of talent. I would put JJ in third place behind those 2 for the award, but let’s see how the Lakers finish the season.

JJ Redick's biggest challenge is proving that he's more than just a great basketball mind - he needs to show that he can manage egos and adjust in high pressure moments. Still more room for growth.

JJ Redick's biggest challenge is proving that he's more than just a great basketball mind - he needs to show that he can manage egos and adjust in high pressure moments. Still more room for growth.

JJ is doing a great job managing this team.  Its always nice when ypu habe a lebron a nd luka to lean back on but his rotatiojs and in game management has been impressive.  Dude always had a crazy high iq as a player.  The test is always in the playoffs.  Having to play upwards of 7 games in a row against the same team provides an interesting view of a coach simce it turns games from checkers into chess.  Lakers are in a way better situation with JJ then they have been in years, including theor bubvle championship

SGA dominated the game playing in his another MVP level watching him playing the game seems that it's so easy for him to make score, slow dribble then flashing his way to take a quick jumpshots, so hard to guard such a player like that, though Houston did try to to keep the distance close but 3rd quarter run is really huge for the home team, they established that decent lead and just keep it till the last quarter and just play the game in exchanging points till the last minute to secure the win.

it was reported as a sprain, but we still don't know what the extend of it. He did try to be Kobe like, not thinking of the injuries and shooting those free throws. But it was already bad for the Mavs now that they don't have AD and Gafford and Lively and now you have to add their number option now. Might be their season is over as they are in a losing skid and they are falling down in the standings ad the Lakers and the Warriors are two of the hottest team in the West right now. It's just string of bad luck, and yes hopefully he can get back to play. But it's knee injury and Kyrie has history of this kind of injuries that sideline him for quiet sometime.

So they are in a 4 game winning, and then SGA solidifies himself as one of candidate for the regular MVP. But there is also Jokic who is also registering solid numbers this season, so it's going to be a close one.

Warriors climbing up to 6th place now, and with Houston on 5th. Although they have like 3-4 games ahead of the Warriors.

But still plenty of games and they could be very close standing as the end of the regular season with this teams in contention for the playoff.

I think that Coach of the year will be a talk for only 2 coaches . It's either CAVS  or OKC. JJ might be good for the Lakers with their standing and position now.
But they are just on that rank because of low ranking also of others and the number of wins.

But its really good that he came back and finish his free throw after that injury happened to him. Last time Kobe did it that's why many people say that Kyrie is great player for doing that. Crazy game for that dude. He is like a scoring machine. 18/30 field goals, that's an efficient night for him and the Thunder won thanks to that great night performance. SGA and Jalen Williams might be the best offensive duo this season and they have been doing it consistently even if the defense is focused on them.

The Warriors on the other hand is just one win away from the 4 teams behind them. The West is actually an exciting rankings right now as these teams will badly want each win they can get. The secured spot of number 6 and avoiding the play-in tournament is like the holy grail right now. Well, we still have a lot of games left in the season, it will definitely change.

Davis has no history of bringing up the team alone, which makes me think that even if he comes back, there is still no chance. Losing Kyrie on the court has a huge impact, not only on their game performance but also on the hope of the entire team to win the finals.

I have admired him that he still took those freethrows despite the injury that he's taken, it's such a noble move. Others might not appreciate that but I really do.

I also hope that he's going to be fine but he needs to take some rest. The Mavs are out of luck, most of their key players are injured and I guess fans will cream at them and tell that it's a karma for them for trading Luka.

At this point, they should be just tanking, lol. They are 10th at the moment and I would say if they try hard enough, they can drop some more but not sure how much. Spurs lost Wemby too, so Spurs will not be doing good, but maybe Suns could do fine? I am not so sure, anything could happen. Mavs isn't doing that great at the moment but they do not have a future potential neither.

For them to be any good, any at all, they would need everyone to be perfectly healthy. While other teams also require the same thing, like Denver isn't good if Jokic is out for example, the difference at Mavs is that they have bunch of players who are almost always injured so they are going to have a big problem with this situation.
