Problem Lakers have is that they can't really sent Westbrook away for anything, they would have to literally pay to get rid of him and that’s the problem. Any team that has any cap to get Westbrook for cheap (as in Lakers won't get same salary back) would have to own a big chunk of salary space and they would require a lot of money.

So all in all, I have to say that Westbrook will stay, even Irving trade can't happen that way, Lakers could give ALL picks they can, and it would still not work. How could it work? If Lakers had any players, they could tradeaway for picks, they could ask Nets which picks they want, then trade the Lakers player for those picks and add their own picks and add westbrook and MAYBE that could work.

Maybe they are interested of Davis, however, I don't think the Lakers would let go of Davis and keep Westbrook, so in short, this trade is not going to happen as they don't agree with the terms. Safe to say that Irving will stay as a Nets and will help the team together with Durant to win a championship.
I doubt it that they'll let go of Davis too. He's one of the main components of the team and LBJ would highly suggesting it that they shouldn't let go of him.

I'm still looking for those news if they'll take Irving and if there's a chance that they'll take a player from the Nets, it should be Irving and not Durant.
Never in my wildest dreams that the Lakers would make such a trade. What they want is a trio with Kyrie around but not without Davis in it. It's suicide if they keep WB, release Davis and take Kyrie. I don't see a championship team in that and I bet their management does too.

Who would take WB? That's the biggest question that had been hanging around for the Lakers to advance. Perhaps, they should just keep him and make use of his skills. He still got it, just been messy last year.
Besides, their new coach already said he had a plan for him. With AD back in a good health, it could become contagious.

Shaquille O'Neal says Warriors' Stephen Curry is 'by far' the best player in the world: 'I love that kid'
Quote
"Nobody's gonna beat the best player in the world, Steph Curry," O'Neal said.
Do you agree?
I do.
Steph proved a lot of things on that last run against the Boston Celtics. Those tears at the end of Game 6 is proof of it.
He heard a lot of bad things in different critics about being a champion just because someone was injured in the opposing team or because they recruited another superstar.
But all of that will not be possible without his humbleness at accepting the new player (Kevin Durant) or being at his best even if the strength of the opposing team (Cavaliers) is intact without Kyrie around because Lebron was still a phenomenal player at that time. (well, even now at his age)

Davis and Westbrook both have a problem. Davis is injury prone, while Westbrook is inconsistent, so if they could solve that problem then maybe once again the Lakers will become a championship team. Right now, the top favorites in the past season are struggling, and they are not anymore the favorite to win now.
If that's the internal problem, there's really a need for the management to solve it.

But as for trades, if there's a necessary player that they have to trade, there will goes the rumor. Most likely, the fans would love to see Westbrick go away and be traded.

While for Davis, he has to stay. We will see it then as we're about to see the season to start very soon and it's just a few months away.

It's hard to argue against.  Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.  He changes the game and requires the defense to pay special attention to him at all times.  This makes his teammates much better than they otherwise would be if the defense didn't have to focus on Step.  Offensively, Steph is hands down the best player in the NBA.

However, he is also a pretty big liability on defense.  You could make the case that his defense cost them the title in 2016 and that other teams target him.  So it's tough to say he's the best player in the world.  I'd rather call him the best shooter of all time.

His defense is underrated though, in a game against the Memphis, he block a shot from Ja Morant giving them a victory. So I would say that he is trying to improved in this department already.

So it's really hard not to argue I agree, 4 rings already, with or without KD, also got a finals MVP and they have established themselves as dynasties and it's hard to see another new team, I say new team because all of the previous dynasties have been established ones, like Lakers and Boston. The last time we have this kind of dynasties is with San Antonio's Tim Duncan.

Steph definitely needs to sharpen his defensive skills. Players like ja morant are only gonna get better and better. As a franchise you don't wanna win games always in a shootout, more defense means greater chances of winning as long g as the shooting stays up to par.

I think at this point in time, it is true. Right now Stephen Curry is a beast. He really doesn’t miss. I have seen some clips of him shooting pre-game and he really doesn't miss from any distance. And he has a remarkably good work rate as well. In addition to that, he is also someone who is quite challenging to play against as well. It is absolutely impossible to contain this prayer when he is in form making 3 points from different positions and making those fakes. I think even if someone can make some points about him not being the top player in the world right now those points are not meant to be very strong.

It is absolutely impossible to contain this prayer when he is in form making 3 points from different positions and making those fakes. I think even if someone can make some points about him not being the top player in the world right now those points are not meant to be very strong.

He can be stopped but that would result in sacrificing the defense on other players as a team needs at least 2 players to guard Curry to stop or limit his production. Curry is already a superstar and a hall of Famer, and the scary thing about him is he is still improving although he already played like the best in the NBA.

But Westbrook for Irving? That would not happen, he was even traded by the Wizards because he did not fit in their system, in fact, when he got traded Wizards improved, it not only due to the injury problem, they have a chance to be in the playoffs last season.

The problem with Westbrook is he really didn't give much outstanding performance which many fans expect. And he is now the target of bashing then blame him every game they lose so maybe he was so affected with it mentally that's why we see his games so broken. For sure for his past performance many teams will doubt to get him because they might get the same issue with him.

They have a full new season coming, time to fix that doubts and Westbrook has to relive that old Westbrook who is a scoring champ and an MVP as well. It's now or never, because if he still messed up this coming season, Lakers will surely dump him through trade.

At least give Westbrook this new season, if he still below par then obviously he leave no choice for the Lakers, so he maybe in the trading block soon.

So hopefully it will be a new Lakers next season, their big 3 coming healthy and maybe just want to forget last's season poor performance and Westbrook giving his everything to help the Lakers win games and for sure he will eat up statistical numbers specially in the triple double department.

Being the best player would really require balance stats for defense and offense. No doubt that Steph really has changed the shooting since he stepped up.

AFAIK, he's the one that I've seen that's really good in those threes and he has mastered it with his entire career. I guess on players like him, he don't have choice but only to master offense and let his teammates do the rest for defense.

I agree about him as the best shooter.

Yes, best shooter there is no debate about that, he really revolutionize the game with his shooting, going further and further away and even at the logo or 50 feet and beyond. For the defense argument, I somewhat agree but then again, we will go back to the eras. I'm not saying that this era or at least the last decade of the NBA didn't focus on defense. But with coaches like Phil Jackson,  Jerry Sloane retiring, and then we have coaches like Mike D'Antoni employing a run and gun, you need to score in less than 10 seconds or less, and playing without true center, the game has chance a lot that maybe the argument for Curry was the best player right now holds true as per Shaq.

Curry has proven himself, not only he is a best shooter but he also won multiple championships. The last achievement was a big statement that says he could carry his team, though they have the big 3 but it was Curry who is the most important of the 3, and he can really stepped up in crucial games.

Both Thompson and Green have some games where they struggle, but Curry is always their to pick them up and win.

It's a problem that has been happening especially last season, it has not been solved yet. You know, when the Lakers won the championship, we already know that Davis was injury prone before he got acquired by the Lakers but that season he was healthy most of the time, especially in the playoffs that's why they got the win.

What do you guys think of the Denovan Mitchell trade? does he really that expensive? for the jazz to want multiple players and some first-round picks to trade him?

https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/08/knicks-still-cautious-about-dealing-draft-assets-for-donovan-mitchell.html

You can read here about the Knicks' decision on how they are cautious on this one because this is really not a joke and their future is at stake. If Mitchell will messed up, regarding his health, it's really hard to recover from it.

Mitchelle had some injury problems but he is not an injury prone player. Mitchell is really a valuable player for the Jazz because they relied their offense mostly on him, that's why Mitchell has the liberty to shoot the ball anytime he wants, and that's make the team suffer during the playoffs.

Now, if the Knicks sees him as a big help for their success, they should be willing to risk and give the Jazz demand to acquire Mitchell.

Look at the Nets, they have given away all their picks, but their trades to get the help for Durant and Kyrie did not pan out. Now, they want to rebuild but they do not have picks and Durant and Irving want to leave. The same could happen if the Mitchell acquisition did not pan out. They would not be able to rebuild without draft picks.

I would not want this if I were the Knicks, especially if it's RJ Barrett that will be on the line.
That kid lift their team up whenever they needed help while Julius Randle is suffering from an unknown disease of consecutive off nights.
Barrett, Mitchell, and Brunson is a good combo but that's all. Randle is trying to play point which is unusual for his size and his turnovers are higher whenever he handles the ball. While Barrett was used at playing deep in the paint acting more like a power forward.
But according to the article, Coach Tom Thibodeau prefers him out than Randle. Something must be happening behind the scenes.

Now, they want to rebuild but they do not have picks and Durant and Irving want to leave. The same could happen if the Mitchell acquisition did not pan out. They would not be able to rebuild without draft picks.

This is the risk on gambling your draft picks to an all star player because you don’t know if they will be play out well to the team or they will sucks which they did on Durant and Irving case. I strongly preferred cultivating players from draft pick like what GSW did to there current roster because there effect will be last longer compared to players like Lebron, KD and other bandwagon player that keeps jumping on other team just to get championship. This kind of players is a high risk investment to whoever team that will acquire them.
