I really don't get Jokic, feels like something is off with him. He is arguably at top 20 by this point, but even if not he is %100 guaranteed to be in top 30 at this point, he has 2 mvps and 1 fmvp, limiting down how many people have that already shows you how rare that is, not many people won it like that. In the end he should have been like going crazy, some people celebrate for weeks, and he was literally unemotional by the end of the game, like he didn't care at all. For him it was "job is done, back to home to relax" and by home its not denver, he wants to go back to his nation and be happy there. He even said "who likes their job", stating basically that he doesn't even like his job, by the way his job is multi million dollar earning NBA MVP, and he dislikes that?

I get that some people may defend him and say it could happen and that's normal and all that, but I do not feel like that's normal, I do not see him being 35+ and still playing, something may happen with him, dude may just retire at 30, its very possible, or he may just start being terrible because he doesn't want to work on himself and he will get worse and worse, I do not really know whats going to happen, but this mindset is unique and I have never heard of it before.

Couldn’t it be like he was just trolling? And I actually agree with him that no one actually likes his job. Nobody wants to do the same thing day after day, year after year. No one likes to do his job, people are just consistent and disciplined. Most of the people in the world right now are working 9 to 5 jobs. Of course, they do not like their job. They do what they are doing just because they are disciplined. I think he said it because of frustration. People do get tired of doing the same thing, the same training every day.

So yes, in this situation, I am going to defend him, but I will defend him as long as he stays consistent and disciplined to do the same thing again, which will bring him success.

Everyone has a different personality, and perhaps Jokic's calm demeanor is what helps him win games because he doesn't panic easily. While the NBA is his profession, he still has a life outside of it. Just imagine if Jokic aims to further improve his game; he would become even more unstoppable. He has a relaxed and laid-back approach, making it seem easy for him to achieve a championship, while others who are overly hyped and desperate for a championship struggle to attain it. In short, Jokic is highly underrated.

Even if Jokic isn't trolling about his comments on those words of him about liking his job it doesn't affect his game badly. This is the most important point for him and actually every single person who is the same as him. You don't have to like your job very much to do it well. Of course it makes it easier for such people to be more energetic but it is all about discipline in the end.

Nobody waits for you to like your job too much to hire you. The thing they are looking for is how skilled you are at doing it. Therefore coming back to Jokic I don't expect him to start to play worse by losing his interest in the sport in the near future at least. He is playing fully focused and hungry for championships.

This will definitely harm Memphis to play without him in the first 30% of the season, at least they don't have to pay him for that time I guess.  Grin

On a side note, Memphis Grizzlies may be just fine even without Ja Morant overall. Honestly, they are now used to playing without him lol.

Without Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies had a:

- 20W-5L record in the 2021-22 season
- 11W-10L record in the 2022-23 season

But regardless, it's not what I really like to point out but the suspension Morant received. What kind of sh*t is that. It's like the league is not considering that as a serious case. Superstar, All-Star level or even a role player, should have received a heavy penalty for such a case like that.

I'm totally with you!

A player of his caliber, having a role model status and all, should be more careful about how he is presenting himself in public. If he can't deal with that, he chose the wrong profession.

He can live his inner thug life dreams in playing GTA or something.

The NBA, with still such a light suspension for a repeating "offender", could and should have made an example out of him in my opinion.
Who knows if he even learns anything from this. He didn't learn anything from the first one, that's for sure.

Most people also forget, these 2 flashing a gun incidents aren't even the only shady stuff he did in the past years. There are stories of him pointing a gun at Indiana Pacers members or punching and threatening a 16 something year old kid, and more.

Yeah right! With the profession that he got, he should act accordingly,

he's receiving huge amount of money to set a good example as pro, but what he did is something that damaging the organization itself, with that lite penalty it serves as there's something with how the organization's handling it, but nothing can be change it's been implemented and he will just missed games and money after that incident.

We will see if he's gonna be the next Dennis Schroeder or his market and position is demandable and that's why he knows what his worth is.
That is unlikely to happen for him as he is a starter. We can at least refer to him as a star player of the team, whereas Dennis Schroeder, I believe, was only a role player when he rejected the offer from the LA Lakers. In the past, there have been players who rejected good offers and ended up struggling to secure a favorable contract.

A good example is Victor Oladipo.

Victor Oladipo Is The Biggest Loser Of Free Agency After Rejecting $112M From Pacers And $45.2M From Rockets Only To Sign A Veteran's Minimum Deal This Offseason
Good if that's the case for Vanvleet while on the case of Oladipo, I think that he should be good in the next season helping his team.
Guys, did you see this news from the Charlotte Hornets? MJ is gonna sell majority of his shares but will still be a minor stakeholder of the team.
News; Michael Jordan selling majority ownership stake in Charlotte Hornets

I don't think that he is trolling though, perhaps that how his personality is, maybe we just don't know, when there are no camera's behind, then we will see him celebrate it in private with just his families and close friends around.

Winning is winning though, that is the ultimate goal for any athlete, be the best and then win some championships along the way and he is still in his prime so I doubt that he is done with that winning mentality. Remember that part of his winning strategy is to lose weight, so that alone shows how his mind is, prepared to do everything for the sake of winning.

I do agree, this is just like a slap in the wrist to Ja Morant. I personally believed that he should be suspended longer, but it seems that Adam Silver doesn't want to imposed that and still like trying to baby-sit Ja and hope that he will change next season. 25 games ain't nothing for Morant, sure he will missed millions, but what the NBA commissioner should be sending is that they are not going to tolerate anyone not even a superstar. NBA is really becoming "soft". I'm hinting that when Morant makes a comeback it will be prime time for NBA and could set it up again the defending champion.
Worst part? It's not the first time so the punishment must be heavier than the first. But I think the weight of money is better than suspending him for a long time. Business is business and we cannot do anything about it. But, I wish he is consistent enough to make the same judgment with other players especially those who are receiving flagrant fouls and technical fouls that are out of line.
I really don't get Jokic, feels like something is off with him. He said something post-interview after the Finals Game 5 that his Mama taught him. Something like not being hyped when you are up and not too down when you fall. That's how I understood what he said.
Jokic won't celebrate too much and he won't also feel down even if he loss. That's what I see with him and I think it's a good thing. He is just moderate, not in panic, not overexcited so he won't do anything stupid in his life. That might also be the recipe for why he is good when he is on the basketball floor. He is just calm.

Excellent teaching by her mother. I believe it has something to do with psychology. Similar to what I've been trying to do for the past three years, but not quite there yet. I do this to keep myself from overthinking, to stay calm, and to be more focused, especially when making decisions about different stuff and it actually works, and I feel better every time I did it no matter what the result is.

Well, it's official.

Ja Morant has be suspended for 25 games: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37863825/sources-grizzlies-ja-morant-suspended-25-games-nba

In my opinion, he got lucky. Many outlets spoke of a much higher punishment, even up to 1 season. The number which circulated the most was 30 games. So now it's "just" 25 games, seems like a good deal for him.

If he will learn something from the whole situation is a different story, der Grizzlies can only hope he does.
This will definitely harm Memphis to play without him in the first 30% of the season, at least they don't have to pay him for that time I guess.  Grin

I think he got the right punishment. If he had been suspended for 1 season, it could have been a little heavy, but it wouldn't have been right if he had been punished less. The NBA needs to be serious about this, be very sensitive about violence and other things. Things like guns, knives, fights cause people to set a bad example.
I think this kind of thing should have no place in sports Smiley

25 games without pay, right? I think that's a lot of money for him, so he deserves that kind of punishment. But this is his second offense. I would have said that he deserves a second chance, but this is his third chance. So, I hope he won't make a mistake after this.

What he showed was promoting violence, and that's not what sports promote.

Sports are about pure entertainment and brotherhood among players with the right cause.

Honestly, this is his 4th chance.

There was the incident with his Mom at Footlocker where him and his buddies tried to attack a teen worker.

There was the incident where he beat up a teen in a pickup game.

There was the original strip club gun incident.

Now there’s the gun on social media incident.

He’s going to lose some money from not playing, sure. Maybe 10-15 million dollars. The real pain is the hundreds of millions he loses from endorsements though.

How many games did Morant miss because of his first suspension? It seems like only 8 games. In my opinion, the NBA management is too soft on him because another 25-game suspension won't make him more responsible. As for the Grizzlies, the only good thing for them is that they'll be able to save about $10 million because of this Morant suspension next season.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Morant fools around again next season. In that case, the Grizzlies will probably run out of patience.

I agree that if he starts taking things a lot more seriously, he will probably be able to perform a lot better. But not given enough importance is I think the mental health of a player. The way he talks I don’t think he is in the nearest mental health situation right now. He has to be frustrated.

The thing is, he is performing well, and he is also very reliable. So, I believe it does not matter what he says as long as he performs, okay?
He just wanted to say something and he said it, the big thing is that he is performing. I just hope that he's not suffering from mental health issues. Because that can be highly dangerous for any athlete in any sport.

I don't think he was "trolling" neither, it may not impact his game badly but you have to accept that it's a PR disaster. Imagine any other player going off and saying "he doesn't like his job", we would all be talking about it. That's what a news is, this is a newsworthy situation, dude won the championship, something not many teams could ever do, there are still teams with no titles and even Denver didn't had one before this, it was the first ever title.

Remember all those winners, they went ballistic after the win. This dude was like "come on when does this end, I need to go home", that's a PR disaster showing he is not happy. Not being happy means you can do a great job, but then you could give up one day, it's true, many actors that made tens of millions of dollars quit and just had a calm life after feeling the same. Never seen it at NBA or at least not such a big name.

Exactly, this is still wanted or needed Ja Morant in the NBA, and so as much his behavior is not accepted in pro ranks, not just in basketball, the NBA commissioner needs Ja for viewership and I think that's what the critics of Adam Silver is saying about him and obviously the punishment is too soft.

It's just a question on what if Ja Morant violated again?

Is he willing to banish him from the league or just another suspension. Money wise this is nothing to Ja as he still has the Nike sponsorship if I'm not mistaken.

The sponsorship goes along with the person.  Meaning if he screws around again Nike will probably drop him.  In the world we live in today and cancel culture people will start boycotting brands that defend what people perceive as "not good".  We were all young and screwd around not making excuses but when ypu are young you make dumb mistakes.  It's not the mistake that defines ypu its how you respond afterwards.  It's up to ja at this point because dude has the world in his hand if he wanted it.

25 games without pay, right? I think that's a lot of money for him, so he deserves that kind of punishment. But this is his second offense. I would have said that he deserves a second chance, but this is his third chance. So, I hope he won't make a mistake after this.

What he showed was promoting violence, and that's not what sports promote.

Sports are about pure entertainment and brotherhood among players with the right cause.

He'll be alright because he chose that road and I know that he knows fully what he is doing. I always believe that the first one might be a mistake, but the 2nd time is not.

Ja Morant will now have to pay for what he has done and he should be more careful about his actions because he is now an icon in the NBA with a bright future. He should think about his daughter more rather than doing some lame things that will ruin his career.

I think 25-game suspension is just a start though.

There is now way that he will be frustrated about what is happening inside the NBA because judging from the way he talks and react about things, he seems like a player that really care and as long as he can deliver a win and gave his best, that will be enough for him. But I agree though, I think there's still a potential from Jokic that needs to be unlock, he just need to be hurt inside the court in-order to unleash his best version.

Even though Howard's physique is totally looking great, I don't believe he is in the shape to play at NBA level. Even at his last season in nba, he was not doing good. Now he is older and played in lesser league. I don't think he can be slightly effective.

Howard averages 23 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 assists per game in the Taiwanese league. Of course, if he could go back to the NBA, his stats would be 2-3 times worse, but that's not the worst thing. The problem is that Howard is still injury prone, and as far as I know, he's often bothered by knee injuries. The way I see it, his age and injury-prone nature could be the deciding factor why NBA teams probably won't offer him a minimum contract this offseason.

That is the problem with Howard now. Not that he cannot play at a high level but his injury is limiting his play time. Even in Taiwan, he is on the bench in some of the games because of injury. He was also not able to carry his team to a significant-finish because of his injury. He no longer deserves a slot on an NBA team. It is better to give that slot to a younger and healthier player.

Hopefully, this is enough punishment to teach Morant. He is throwing away his good fortune by trying to be a thug. If he ever gets involved in a gun incident again, I think his sponsors will back away from him. I hope that does not happen before he learns his lesson. And maybe, while he is suspended he needs to go to therapy and maybe he will not do the foolishness he has done again. He is a baller, and we will hate to see something bad happen to him just because of his foolishness.

Regarding the suspension of Ja Morant.

I guess that's even a soft punishment regards to his actions for the past months. That's even fine to him and quite low type of fine and it doesn't include some fee for that fine.

Well, he's a known player and marketable so the NBA wouldn't be too hard to him as it will lose some of its market through him. He's still got a lot of fans that follows him but it should be tougher when it's come to that action he just did but then, it's America.

Everything is falling into pieces now because if I recall it correctly, before the NBA released its 25 games suspension for Ja Morant, Powerade and Nike already did their move a month ahead or just a couple of days after Morant was seen again holding a gun in a live feed. Anyway, this should be enough for him to start reflecting on his actions and that being thug will not get him ahead in life as that will just make his situation difficult.
