I think all he wants is security so giving him a longer contract should suffice to get him back to the team. An increase may not be his main goal on why he declined his option. News came out that he thinks he is worth $100m so give him 5 years of $20m.
Possibly, he wants to be there when Steph Curry retires and just get the money that he wants even though his co-main star is already resting.

Yeah, I've also heard rumors that Green naively thinks he deserves another $100 million contract and that the Warriors want him back. However, I still don't believe in this outcome. I mean, it makes no sense for the Warriors' management to offer him such a big, long contract because Green is 33 years old and already performing pretty mediocrely. Just imagine how bad he'll be when he turns 38.

I like the Golden State Warriors being rid of Jordan Poole, he'll be such a mess to have as the heir to the post splash brothers era and he's shown it multiple times, in my candid opinion. The supposed new deal he got last year is already getting way deep into his head, but the if the Warriors clearing massively off their salary cap is to retain Draymond Green or hand him some ridiculous deal as mentioned above then trading Jordan Poole would be a stupid move in my opinion, I think this players also need to understand that these franchises are peoples business and they as players only stayed over the years because their getting as paid they dim fit and their dreams aligned, but this felling of entitlement after they're getting old and the franchise needs to start thinking of the future they begin to play some victim card, instead of just getting the hell away to some place where to they can milk some money off before calling it quits on their already ending careers.

I’m surprised Green hasn’t been traded already. I don’t think he can play at a championship level anymore. His shooting has been terrible. He is no longer able to be a stretch 4 and his bullying style of defense isn’t going to age well. I think he’s got about 2 or 3 years left in the league before he can’t start on any team. No way would I want to offer him a deal longer than 3 years and at nowhere near his current salary.

I honestly think that he is a little bit delusional to actually look for a deal which is worth a hundred million dollars. He is quite old right now and he is not getting any younger with time. If any team actually wants to spend a hundred million I think they can get a far better player compared to him right now. If he is getting a five-year deal right now, I am quite sure that he is not going to be able to actually perform. Well, actually he wants to be able to perform at all after three years. So the last two years of the five-year deal are going to be him taking a free salary.

Man, the trades are going crazy. Undrafted players are also being signed.
The number 10 pick of the Dallas Mavericks + Davis Bertans will be traded for OKC number 12 and then Dereck Lively.
So much is happening, I think I'll just check the roster once everything is settled down. It's hard to keep up with all the picks being traded and some more.
Let's just focus on the big names that will soon be in a different jersey.

Looks like the Golden State Warriors are also trying to strengthen their outside shooting after trading Jordan Poole. They signed undrafted Javan Johnson for a 1-year deal. 42.6 field goal percentage and 41.2 in 3 points percentage. Not bad.

Jordan Poole has already left the Warriors through trade, so let's not expect that Draymond Green would follow suit. I believe they are currently in negotiations, and Draymond Green will likely enjoy a bigger contract after those negotiations. Poole was traded, but Green will probably stay if they still want to be a championship team.
Longer contract, that's his goal in this drama. And I think GM Dunleavy's move of trading Jordan Poole was the answer to that. He will probably give Draymond what he wants but let's see how much their luxury tax will be. They have a lot of players who are eating all their salary cap and I bet they are over it.
They showed once again that tanking pays off regardless of size. If they hadn't stopped playing luka and kyrie in the last 2 games last season, they would have faced the champion denver nuggets at best. In the 2023 NBA draft, the top 10 protected picks would go to the high-ranking knicks. Instead, they kept the 10th pick and traded him to the 12th and 24th picks, as well as perhaps the nba's worst contract, turning davis bertans into richaun holmes. Not destiny-changing moves, but they already have destiny-changing players. They need such touches. One of the teams that spent the nba draft 2023 night most successfully. They made unusual and unexpectedly aggressive decisions, and in turn, they contributed significantly to the team having a young core. Dallas has a core group of young players in the form of luka, hardy, green, omax and lively with the two players they took in the draft. Of course, this is a great situation for the team for the future. If Kyrie Irving will stay in the team, I think they have the comfort to make more aggressive decisions thanks to this core they have.

We still don't have any news of Green wanting to get out of the Warriors though.
There was a news about him but an update, we don't have.

Green enters unrestricted free agency after declining the $27.5 million player option

Definitely CP3 is not a guarantee but I guess Warriors think that adding him might push them for another run at the title, specially if Green opted to get back since Poole is no longer with the team.

And it's also interesting that there are reports that Jordan Poole unfollow Draymond Green in Twitter, Lol. So the beef must be real between the two since the beginning of this season specially some videos of them having confrontation, not just the punching incident.
He has already declined an offer and I think if he'll negotiate with that, he have already done but he's probably going somewhere else and that's what his heart is telling him.

But for sure that the Warriors are open for him to comeback and alter his decision about the decline that he has made.
Draymond declined his option so that he could negotiate a max deal. If he doesn't get close to a max deal with 4 championships under his belt, we may see him move on. I think the Warriors will come up with something that will satisfy him though. I'm more curious if they will keep Klay as he wants a max deal as well.

We will see about Klay's case though, if any of their big 3 will be traded or move, then the Warriors dynasty might be over with this guys. And start to rebuild although they still look solid in paper.

I think what Green did was a normal procedure, as he knows the Warriors will still sign him with a bigger contract. If I recall correctly, a similar situation happened with LeBron James when he had an option and declined the offer, allowing the Lakers to give him a bigger offer. So, there's nothing to worry about here. Draymond will stay happy with a bigger contract.

No way would I want to offer him a deal longer than 3 years and at nowhere near his current salary.
And it's starting to heat up. Draymond Green honestly said he doesn't like CP3 although he respects his hustle and his IQ. Is he going to be the next Jordan Poole that would be punched in the face?  Grin Just kidding.
About Green. I don't think the Warriors have enough cap space now. They need to let go of someone big if they want Draymond back. I think they should just leave him alone. Rumors have it that the Lakers are clearing some space for him. That's better. Let him try to be in a different team and we will see if all those things that he does with the Warriors will work in a different team without a Steph and Klay.

CP3 on the other hand won't have any issues with Steph. I've seen them before talking in a video call and all respect from both players too. What's done on the basketball court will stay there. And we all know how down-to-earth Steph is. He ain't the fighting guy and hating people.
I am going to wait where Draymond ends up and I wish it will be a different team. He should try the Wizards.  Cheesy

Victor Wembanyama is lauded, but will he really be okay? Most of the tall players drafted in recent years have disappeared, except for 2-3. It's interesting that a French Power Forward was undoubtedly picked first in the draft, I call it the Doncic and Jokic factor. If they had not been so successful, we would not have seen the first pick tall European to be chosen. It will be good for the player that he goes to the Spurs. The organization that shines International players best may be Spurs. Let's see what he will do in the rookie season.
Yeah, and a very respectful coach, Pops. I think Wemby will learn a lot from him. Maybe he will mature faster that way.

But the salary cap of the Warriors though is going to be too big again this season.

Yes, we wanted Green or the Warriors management might want Green to return again and go for one more run. But there are a lot of noises that he might partner with Lebron in the Lakers uniform. So lots of drama for the Warriors and we don't know if he is going to sign or not. And if decided to not sign with the Warriors then obviously there are no more dynasty for them unless Kuminga really step up and be part of the future for the Warriors.

Not official, it could be just a rumor, but I heard that the Knicks is pursuing Zach Lavine? It says that the Bull are looking for young players and future draft picks and of course salaries as well.

So it might be Brunson, LaVine and then Randle for their own version of big 3. Bulls have been inconsistent in the last 2 seasons though, we thought that they might be a different version with the acquisition of DeRozan but it seem they have been plague with injuries.

Draymond and Klay both want max contracts and there is no way the Warriors can pay both of them. I think Draymond stays and Klay gets traded. Makes more sense with Poole being traded away. I can't say that's what going to happen for sure, but that's the feeling I have.

Green's decision to turn down Warrior's offer was, in my opinion, a bad one. If he ever switches teams, it will be career suicide. He is no longer productive, and his salary will undoubtedly fall after the next season or contract. It's as though his flaw, which has been covered by splash brother, will be revealed. The GSW badly needed a big guy next season, so this could be Kuminga's opportunity to shine and improve.

It's still a rumor, but I hope that it will push through, and become true.

TBH, I hope that the big 3 of the Bulls must be separated, trade to other teams, and rebuild. It's obvious that the big 3 of DeRozan, LaVine, and Vucevic didn't work out for them for the last 2-3 years, and it's a wasted time for these 3 all-star players. Putting them in a title contender team would be a good thing. Now the Knicks can build their own big three of Brunson, Lavine, and other player. I want Randle to get traded to other team because he's very unreliable. He is shooting a huge volume of shots that affect the whole team, and if he is having a bad night, he can't help the team in any way. Trade Randle, and get another all-star caliber player.

~
Draymond and Klay both want max contracts and there is no way the Warriors can pay both of them. I think Draymond stays and Klay gets traded. Makes more sense with Poole being traded away. I can't say that's what going to happen for sure, but that's the feeling I have.
And with the new CBA, teams like the Warriors who are one of the highest paying teams will greatly affected.
If they want the core to be intact, it's either Draymond Green, or Thompson will receive a pay cut just because of this new rule. Klay getting traded? I don't think so, but he deserves a pay cut IMO, and if doesn't want that then that's the time for him to get traded.

Green's decision to turn down Warrior's offer was, in my opinion, a bad one. If he ever switches teams, it will be career suicide. I just hope that Green's decision will benefit him, and not be the next "Dennis Schroeder". You know what Schroeder did to the Lakers a few years ago where he don't want to sign a 4 year $84M contract, and instead he got a 1 years ~$5M deal which is funny.

I hope that Green will not end up like him, or he will receive criticisms online for sure. Turning down the offer being a bad one? It all depends on his future contract, but one thing's for sure though. You can't rely on him in terms of offense because he's a defensive minded player.

Draymond Green is not stupid; the fact that he is being offered $27 million by the Warriors shows that they recognize the value of his skills. Currently, he is still a free agent, but there is a possibility that he might end up re-signing with the Warriors. There are numerous rumors surrounding Draymond Green at the moment, but the only way to know for sure is to see where he ultimately signs. Personally, I believe he will choose to stay with the Warriors.

What offer? Is there a new one? He just opted out which was part of his previous contract as far as I know so there was nothing to turn down yet. I thought it was a wrong move too but maybe it's not that bad to seek for a better contract and now is probably the better time to do it. There's a lower chance of him getting a $100M 4 or 5 year contract if he waits until next year since his trade value could decline further.

There's no offer yet, I think he just made a mistake about the option being declined.

An article was posted just recently about a Rival cleaning up some space for Draymond Green to be injected in their team.
https://bluemanhoop.com/2023/06/24/golden-state-warriors-kings-green-space/
Quote
The Kings can offer Green a lot of money, something the Warriors will be loath to do with their luxury tax and second apron issues. They also can promise a reunion with former Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown, now the head coach in Sacramento, and keep Draymond close to Los Angeles to continue stoking his budding media career.
If they can, they should. Their team is not that good in defense and Coach Mike Brown will be there, so it won't be difficult for Draymond to make chemistry with anyone.
Use Fox like the Steph Curry of the Warriors for the screen and pop plays and maybe Sabonis too since he can also score in the paint. It will give a different vibe for the Kings especially in the defensive department. Surely, they will be lighting that beam more when it works out.
Dunleavy should make haste if he really wants to get Draymond back because there will be a lot of teams targeting him as most are lacking in defense.

Green has declined his $27.5 million player option for the 2023-24 season and will become an unrestricted free agent, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

.source article

That's the salary he will get if he stay with the Warriors, but now he become a free agent because he declines that player option.

For those who hasn't understand well what player option is, here's the explanation for that.

Quote
PLAYER OPTIONS
A player option grants the player the power to decide whether to stay for another year or become an unrestricted free agent. If a player has a three-year contract with an option for the fourth season, that means if the option is exercised (by the player in this example), the contract extends through the fourth season. If the option is not exercised (by the player in this example), then the contract ends after the third season. The player then becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Once an option is exercised it cannot be revoked — meaning (in this case) the player can’t change their mind of the option once they exercise it. Conditional player options are not allowed, which means the option cannot be contingent on something like number of games played, team wins or scoring average.

There can be only one option year (except in the case of rookie-scale contracts). For rookie-scale contracts for first-round picks, those contain a team option before both the third and fourth seasons.

Option years cannot have a lower salary than the previous season.

Pretty crazy that Green would turn down that player option to try and get a longer deal (or jump teams). I don’t think the Warriors are going to want to extend him a long term contract given his age and drop off. I’m not sure where else Draymond would be effective either. I don’t think he fits well with any other team in the league.

I think Kings will be taking too much risk if they offer him a 4 or 5 year $100M contract given his age and recent decline. Maybe a 2 to 3 year deal is more ideal for them but that's probably not what Green is looking for.

I don't know about chemistry if he signs with the Kings. He'll be moving to another team so his "leadership" could be diminished or questioned unlike when he's in GS. His ego will probably get in the way and not let the youngsters "disrespect" his authority.

No doubt that Poole was a good player but this is the reality and the time is keeping up that everyone just have to accept that the deal was all set and done.

They need a solution to the Chemistry issue and so they need to say goodbye to Jordan Poole if it is not working anymore then I think this is a good move for the Golden State Warriors, surely the starting 5 that they need right now are Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney, and Andrew Wiggins, then for me, I don't like the CP3 trade but for sure CP3 will provide a good replacement when Stephen Curry is not playing and the two should get the rest they need then maybe if Chris Paul could be healthy then it is a win for the Warriors

Well, we can not be so sure but if Victor Wenbanyama gets into a nasty injury maybe he will disappear this disappearing act thing is pretty much normal for the NBA, well this will depend on the player his attitude towards Basketball changes and it is all about the money and if Victor Wenbanyama is just like that of a player then we can not judge Wemby in that predecessor of players that goes to the NBA without the true basketball motivation let's just wait then we judge on what surely can happen to the kid,

Pretty crazy that Green would turn down that player option to try and get a longer deal (or jump teams). I don’t think the Warriors are going to want to extend him a long term contract given his age and drop off. I’m not sure where else Draymond would be effective either. I don’t think he fits well with any other team in the league.

I think that the Warriors will still get Draymond Green for the next season, but this is for him to stay another season, right now Draymond Green is aging aswell just like Stephen Curry, and the Warriors know the thing about Green that he has given many great plays for the Warriors and for me this is because Green is a crucial piece for the Warriors defense,

He has already declined an offer and I think if he'll negotiate with that, he have already done but he's probably going somewhere else and that's what his heart is telling him.

But for sure that the Warriors are open for him to comeback and alter his decision about the decline that he has made.
He had a wish and his thoughts were different from everyone's expectations so turning down the offer was his heart's decision.
After all, accepting an offer in a team when he has no intention or compulsorily accepting will also never give good results in the future.
There may be other options but we don't know which one he will choose later.

Yes, the Warriors are always open for him to come back at any time and this is a tough decision whether to return for the Warriors or follow his heart.

But I don't think that the Warriors will give him the same digits though if Draymond Green wishes to come back and wear the same jersey because after all, NBA is a business, and the franchise will always look for an option so that somehow, they can save even a bit from their player's contracts. As of now, there are no speculations about Green's future plans like whether he'll be back or not but I'm thinking that his agent might've talked to some teams already that could give them what they wanted.
