In the game against the Warriors, it was amusing to see Wiggins guarding Wemby. Wiggins is known for his defensive skills, but he didn't match up well with Wemby and he look like a little boy against a giant. The Spurs emerged victorious in that battle. However, I also noticed a weakness in Wemby - he seemed to run out of energy. This could be a factor he needs to work on, especially when facing teams like the Warriors who play at a high pace. If he can't keep up with the game's tempo, it might force the Spurs to bench Wemby which is not what we want to see.
Yeah, the Spurs won the game. Wemby put up 19 points in just 20 minutes of play, which seems about right for a preseason game. But you could tell he got a bit winded in that one, and who wouldn't? It was a small-ball game by the Warriors, and that can really tire out the opposition, especially if they're used to playing with big guys. Maybe that's why Tacko Fall and Boban Marjanovic don't see a lot of minutes on their teams, as they can't keep up with the fast-paced game. But Wemby's still young, he showed some special skills, and I'm sure there's plenty of time for him to develop his game. As for Kristaps Porzingis (7-3), he earned some good minutes with his team, so it can vary from player to player, I guess. I’ve been really surprised how well Wemby has been playing. I wonder if it’s just because of the preseason or what. I haven’t seen him getting bullied too much down low. I suspect that is going to change as soon as the regular season starts. I was totally wrong about LaMelo Ball though so maybe I’ll be surprised.

That's exactly what I was thinking. When the actual season start the intensity will also go up. Now everybody just wants to get ready, not get hurt, and shape up their game for the season. As soon as it starts they won't let a rookie take the spotlight so easily. Sure he will have a good season, that's out of question. But it won't look as "easy" as it did in the past games.

The Spurs' first game is the day after, and they're up against Luka's team. I'm a bit surprised by how the bookies set the spread for this game. Dallas is the favorite, but only by -4 against the home team. It seems like the bookies are giving some credit to Wemby's special talent, which is why the Spurs are just slight underdogs at home. The first game will probably give us a taste of whether he can maintain his performance in the regular season.

Iggy going to the Warriors was the moment when the dynasty was created. Without him, the Warriors would not have had the success they did against LeBron.
Iggy's retirement has been long overdue, as he has been more of a mentor than a player for the last couple of seasons. Overall, Iggy had a good career in the NBA, and there's no doubt that he certainly contributed to those Warriors victories. I wouldn't even be surprised if the Warriors management decided to retire his jersey. However, I personally will always associate him with the 76ers because I still remember that time and how good he was during his prime. Iggy is superstar owned by GSW and thanks to Iggy they were able to enter the NBA finals several times and managed to win it. He was also player for the US team and was able to take part in bringing the US to the FIBA title. Now he is 39 years old and is actually not too old for Iggy who has very good playing skills and thanks to his body posture he can more easily carry the ball because he is quite strong as player in the small forward position. Maybe he can still survive until the age of 41 or 42 to continue with GSW. Early retirement is not wish that the GSW team can accept and I am sure his departure could burden GSW in the future.

Now he is 39 years old and is actually not too old for Iggy who has very good playing skills and thanks to his body posture he can more easily carry the ball because he is quite strong as player in the small forward position. That's already old age for most bastketball players, if I'm not mistaken 19 years in the league, one of the longest tenure for a basketball player. And it's good that he retired as a Warriors because he moved to Miami a couple of years ago, and then comes back to the Warrior for another ring. So that is one of the best decision of his career although I think he is being eyed by the Warriors management to make a comeback to them. And I'm thinking that after retiring, he could still be part of the management team. He has built a good rapport with the current players and obviously in the front office. So the Warriors can still used him even if he is retired on court playing. But can be hired as a valuable scout or maybe they will create a new position for him in the front office. Maybe he can still survive until the age of 41 or 42 to continue with GSW. Early retirement is not wish that the GSW team can accept and I am sure his departure could burden GSW in the future.
He has limited minutes in his last year, he was seldom used by coach Kerr. He only played it really needed for point and defense. But there are game that he still shows brilliance of his prime years. But it's time for him to retire and no need to play until the age of 41 or 42. No need for him to go and chase those records. He had accomplished a lot that no players have done, like winning rings and finals MVP.

A few days of rest before the official start of the NBA regular season. So it seems like almost all of the teams are ready except for those rebuilding teams and the unstable Philadelphia 76ers who still have Harden but made a personal excuse to leave its training camp.
The start of the season always excites me as teams will try their best to start strong. It enables them to observe if they need some trades before the deadline and necessary adjustments.
As we've seen, Victor Wembanyama is NBA-ready and so is Chet Holmgren although the latter seems to have better teammates so the stats might favor the former. But it will be very interesting to see these 2 giant prospects.

I'm pretty optimistic about Wemby's performance. He's the go-to guy on the team, and they're counting on him to deliver. With him stepping up, I think the Spurs should have a solid season. I have no doubt about his abilities; he was a first-round overall pick for a reason, and he's given us a taste of what he can do in the regular season. Right now, as excited as we are, all we can do is hope that he stays injury-free and doesn't get hit by the career-ending kind. He already show how dominant he is on pre-season and he is a no bust so most provably that Coach Pop will develop this guy so they can possibly dominate the league since Wemby seems unguardable if he can fully develop his skills. Since he can run on point and can able to put some score on rainbow area so in next two years of this guy for sure he will be more scarier than we thought. Now small ball teams might thinking some good revamp on their line up since there are quality bigs are now dominating or changing the landscape of NBA and what line up GSW have or other following their tracks seems will have a problem if they face Spurs and also Nuggets on regular season. We really hope to see Wemby not to get injured because he is literally a one of the kind talent so many want to see this him grow more.

Finally, Chet Holmgren gets a chance to shine since he's back to full health. His rookie season was a bummer due to injuries, but now he's ready to roll. With Wemby also have his debut, they're both bigs, so it'll be interesting to see if Chet can create his own name. They faced off in the preseason, and we got a taste of who's got the edge, but let's wait for the regular season. Chet might surprise us and outdo Wemby in the stats department. I'm super excited about the new season. We missed the NBA after a boring NBA Finals, so here's hoping for a much better one this time – a series that goes all the way to Game 7, not a quick 4-1 or 4-0 sweep.

It’s preseason though. Games of the team will be different after calibrating during regular season. I’m still not a fan of this kind of build because they are fragile and prone to injuries on physical game. I wonder how will this kid can handle player like Giannis and Jokic which will obviously play against them. This is probably some new meta on NBA but let’s see how can they last on a more physical game because there’s a lot of player with tall build that only have a few spotlight on NBA due to the injury. They still didn’t encounter player like Pachulia who is dirty to play.

Yeah, and they are going to fight for the Rookie of the Year award this season. Chet Holmgren didn't play last season, so this is his first year and so with that him and Wemby is vying for that title. But I guess the hype is no longer on Chet, and others says that he is overrated. But we will see. OKC is also featured a lot of young talents as well and I think as compare to the Spurs they are much better with SGA. But I think Wemby will shine more just like what we are seeing in the pre-season games. He perhaps has given us a glimpse of what the future will be for him and the San Antonio Spurs. But assuming that both of them will be healthy this season? I think Wemby will have the edge for the ROTY award.

Both are complete package as Chet also have that good capability to be a 2-way player just the same with Wemby, but stats wise the main gunner of Spurs will be Wemby while with OKC Chet will be a second option, as SGA will remain as their main alpha. Winning ROTY is still favorable with Wemby unless something happened or some good adjustments will take place in the side of OKC. If SGA will use that height advantage of Chet and become the facilitator and not just the main gunner, which can be done since they are all young and they can still build good chemistries playing together as a team.

For anyone interested, Tuesday is the Nuggets ring ceremony, and they will be playing the Lakers. It's actually a good night of basketball as you have that game and also a little later the Suns take on the Warriors. Should be 2 really good games worth the watch.

Can't wait! Feels like it's been forever since meaningful nba games have been played. These shoukd be 2 great games. Things I'm looking forward to seeing: -How does Beal gel on the Suns, and how does everyone still get their shots up. - how does cp3 play into the splash brothers scheme. Does steph now play off ball because cp3s value is with the ball in his hand running the show - does austin reeves play a bigger role coming off a great season and fiba tourny run?

One game will obviously not be enough to fully answer your questions regarding Reaves' new role with the Lakers and the integration of Beal and Paul into their new teams. Anyway, Suns vs. Warriors and Lakers vs. Nuggets should be interesting games, and I'm more than sure it will be a great start for another regular season in the NBA.

Bad news for the Grizzlies just as the season is about to kick off. Their center Steven Adams is having knee surgery and will be out for the entire year. This is especially bad in my opinion because the Grizzlies have issues and Steven Adam’s is a great person with a lot of influence over his teammates and I think a big part of the reason he’s on that team is to keep Ja Morant in check.

Achievements and money without playing the game in his last few seasons. Well, he became the Finals MVP of one of the Warriors championships so I think they will retire his jersey. I actually thought he would retire 2 years ago because he cannot contribute anymore but I guess the Warriors management does like him to be there with the team to fill them with positive vibes and some veteran perspective. Iggy will always be remembered for his defensive highlights in GSW. His contributions are well appreciated by the team and even he's not that on the prime 2 years ago, he's better kept by them. Iggy is one of the names that has established GSW's achievement on the league and whatever is his next endeavors, most of his fans are all in there to support him. But I think Wemby will shine more just like what we are seeing in the pre-season games. He perhaps has given us a glimpse of what the future will be for him and the San Antonio Spurs. But assuming that both of them will be healthy this season? I think Wemby will have the edge for the ROTY award.
Chet didn't had a good start last season and this time he'll be more careful to his body. But I agree that if we're going to compare both of them and who's going to be likely healthier than the other, it's Wemby and although he's got more chance of getting that award. I'll wait more about the other rookies and many are interested with Heat's Jaime Jaquez Jr.

San Antonio Spurs is currently in rebuilding mode and with almost the entire roster not having an established All-Star or Superstar level, expect that Victor Wembanyama will be utilized more. Since the Rookie of the Year award depends on a rookie's average stats, he really has that edge on that award compared to his counterparts as he's expected to have more playing time at the Spurs. But I'm more looking forward to seeing Scoot Henderson of the Portland Trail Blazers in action and I expect him to be one of the contenders for the Rookie of the Year. Since Damian Lillard is now out of the Blazers, I think they will put Henderson as a starter and can be a good backcourt duo with Malcolm Brogdon or if ever this veteran will be traded, Henderson might be the key sole guard for the Blazers.

For some reason I do not see Chet to be on the same level as Wemby at all, maybe that is just me but the difference is huge. Wemby is much much better on defense if you ask me, he is just by far better, and maybe they look like both tall skinny dudes but Wemby is more agile, and also built better, he has more muscles if you ask me, can't guarantee that but it looks that way when you look at their images. That height difference matters too I think, Wemby is significantly taller too so the difference is definitely huge.
I believe that we are going to see a race without a doubt, but I think Wemby will win with a clear margin without a doubt, it should be something that would be a lot more easier for him to get. This also depends a bit on how the teams will do as well.

Since the Rookie of the Year award depends on a rookie's average stats, he really has that edge on that award compared to his counterparts as he's expected to have more playing time at the Spurs. Yes, they have been rebuilding for years though, got a lot of young players, but it seems they can't find the right pieces to fit in like what coach Pop could have envisioned to build a championship team. He could be looking like a Tim Duncan kind of players, not in the same mold of playing, but the mentality. And then leaders like Tony Parker and the likes of Manu and other role players too. But this new set of players he had could be the one, centering around the young Wemby. But I'm more looking forward to seeing Scoot Henderson of the Portland Trail Blazers in action and I expect him to be one of the contenders for the Rookie of the Year. It's good to hear the you mentioned Scoot, so far it seems that everyone is excited to see Wemby vs Chet for the Rookie Of The Year. But I will say that Scoot could be the dark horse in the race and will give both of this player a good fight as I'm seeing him as something that can impact the new look of Portland, since there's no more Lillard.
