I've just read another thread in Meta with several members suggesting another rank is needed above Legendary because Legendary rank is now becoming quite common here. I damn sure hope not, at least wait for me to get to something like 700 activity Hero or Legendary, there is not too much of a difference. Most signature campaigns treat you the same as well. True. the fee of Legendary somehow can be the same with Heroes. we still want to achieve such level though and while we are staying here in the forum for good, we might as well just be part of the reputable high rank users. There are users who are into their new projects send PMs to me to participate on their site all because i'm a Sr. Member. all the more when we get to become Legendary. its a revelation

no, you are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity, not early, more post than the required minimums, does not an advantage to get the higher rank.
Correct, the point at which each poster becomes a Legendary member is as you said when activity is between 775 & 1030 but it's predetermined when you create your profile so in that case, again as you said the amount of posts a person makes has nothing to do with how quickly they reach Legendary status. I also guess that the number of posts has nothing to do with it, when you become Legendary. But is it really predetermined upon profile creation, or there is a random draw each time the activity is updated? It has been stated in several threads already, at the moment you register an account on this forum, the activity number in which you become legendary member at, is already set. Nothing can and will change that. It simply can't be so in respect to Hero members that are about to become Legendary (i.e. higher activity Hero members, say, above 900) for very simple reason - when their accounts were registered there hadn't yet been a Legendary rank on the forum. It appeared only in late 2014 - early 2015, if I'm not mistaken, while the total majority of such members (including me) registered in the fall of 2013. It could be that the date was set when this rank had been added, though, but I'm still not sure... Could anyone clarify this matter?

I think they are talking through their hats... I'm waiting for a URL to where their assertion is in print.

Right. So quit the sig spamming ok? Anyhow, by the time you reach that status, this forum will hopefully be long gone. Anyhow, good luck.

It could be that the date was set when this rank had been added, though, but I'm still not sure... Could anyone clarify this matter? Theymos has detailed how this is actually done. It depends on your id. And of course, a secret seed ... Currently this randomness is done with a single SQL query, which is very convenient. update smf_members set ID_POST_GROUP=21 where ID_POST_GROUP=8 and activity>=775 and activity>=775+conv(substr(sha1(concat(ID_MEMBER, secretSeed)), 1, 2), 16, 10); The required activity level per user is suitably random for betting, but anyone who can read my code (there are a few such people) will be able to exactly predict when someone will become Legendary, so I don't really recommend it.

I see your point, you want to become legendary even with 1 post, it has been discussed few pages back. You don't have to ask theymos because you can reduce your posts yourself but it will take some time.

Since this seems to be what the poster you replied to actually wants, i.e. not remain Legendary with a few posts but turn into a Newbie member again (for his own reasons)... Did anyone try to delete all their posts?

I sincerely hope that you do not get any of your accounts anywhere near Legendary. Account farmers and spammers like you are a cancer to this forum. stan.distortion also deleted a significant number of their posts (AFAIK all that they could), leaving them to be Legendary with 313 Activity.

In fact, that guy didn't delete his posts, he actually replaced their contents with "deleted", "removed", "locked", and so on. And I don't get what you might see wrong with that per se, irrespective of deleted content... Though I agree that the user name looks suspicious and scammy
