I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.

Bitcoin is really a good potential. But, some altcoins have great potentials too. There's a lot of altcoins here that showed good potential and have stayed in the long run. Ethereum, monero, waves, and a lot more are one of the altcoins that have been already established. All you need to do is to study the ICO first before investing.

I believe that many altcoin have a higher potential than bitcoin. For example, ark grew very well.

Ethereum is good enough for me, because in for the past years it was consistently increasing. Moreover, seems it will follow to the steps of bitcoin. Also I'm just thinking that someday ethereum coin have a possibility to change the position of bitcoin.

It could rise faster than the bitcoin or even bitcoin cash. The increase of user number is faster.

I would prefere BTC over altcoins but when I see huge risky ground holding BTC I am shifting to some of the altcoins. I personally like Ethereum, NEO, BCH and such. Actually I would rather buy more of the BCH, but the price is now too big. I have to wait till the price drop a little, maybe in November.

Bitcoin will always be the top dog imo, but if you want to gain bigger profits in the crypto market then youll probably want to invest into some alt coins.... ETH is another bigger coin already, youll want to get in something smaller like ARK, OMG, NEO something along those lines that could 3-5x in value in the next year... unless you think BTC will go from 4k to 12k in a year

Everything depends on the term (short-term or long-term) of investment (trading). For long-term trading it is worth looking at heavy coins, such as BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, NEM. To select coins for short-term trading, you will have to study fundamental and technical analysis.

In my opinion it's Ark. Very ambicious, good dev team, they are working on serveral things in the same time. They can really surpass most platforms in the nearest future

When it the issue of investment listening to too many advice will not help you in making a rational decision in most cases. There is no doubt, there are so many coins that have no potential of increasing in value. And are also good coins that has potential of increase in value.

If I had to invest now I would probably invest in waves, ark and ripple. It think these coins have a bright future ahead. These coins can make a man rich in couple of years.

There really aren't that many strong ones. Tokes are a lot more interesting right now.

Something that the market is not saturated with and full of whale bag holders. Most coins mentioned are in the top 10 - work it out, if they are in the top 10, you might as well just invest in Bitcoin.

Even if a coin is in the top 10 most other coins besides bitcoin and ethereum have a lower market cap so the potential of growth for those coins is way bigger than bitcoin, so I think you are mistaken since all those coins can be a great investment if you can get in at the right time.

what does everybody think about the future of WAVES? it was at $5 for a while and looks to have a solid team/ tech behind the project but its recently been down a bit, of course all the coins have been going a bit down lately and usually all bounce back together.... anybody here think that WAVES can ever hit double digits in the $10+ range
