Is there an IRC or Slack channel?

Not yet. I think a Slack channel would be a good idea.

Yes, please do this.

If there is interest, we can include HODL Slack in this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1328107.0

that is the login page for those that already have access. Everyone else needs invites. You can set up an auto invite page. There are several on github. I use one called slackin for several other slack teams.

Thanks. Is that something you could get setup as you know your way around?

Before that's setup, anyone needs an invite can pm me their email address.

Dear All,

probably you can help me to start mining at Windows.
So I have installed the client and it seems to work well.
After closing the client I went into debug of the HodlCoin and inserted there: setgenerate true
But no mining was happening, so I guess I missed something or need to do it in a different way.
Any help how to start mining at windows (for dummies... Wink )

Many thanks in advance!

Best regards

Richi

In console of running wallet, type this:
setgenerate true x (x equals amount of cpu cores to use.
setgenerate true -1 to use all cores.

Happy mining!

Also, the only way you'll know if the mining has started is if your CPU usage goes up to 100%. Alternatively check the debug.log to see if it is completing searches.

Thanks incognitoworker, really that easy! That is even for a noob as me possible!

Thanks FreeTrade, checked the CPU usage and its at 99% - really working.

Curios to see if there are any blocks. First time solo mining for me. Will there be than just more coins in the wallet automatically, if I have found a block?
Thanks for helping out again!

If/When you solve a block you'll see a transaction of ~50 HODL labeled as "Mined" in your transaction list. There are no other indicators that you've solved a block.

Greetings!
i have been mining np until no when i get this in my debug (when just randomly checking to see pattern searches as suggested)

"2016-02-04 03:20:20 Running HOdlcoinMiner with 1 transactions in block (189 bytes)      ------    started mining no prob as normal
2016-02-04 03:21:06 scheduler thread interrupt                                                   ------ about a min later it gives shutdown signal to miner?
2016-02-04 03:21:06 opencon thread interrupt
2016-02-04 03:21:06 addcon thread interrupt
2016-02-04 03:21:06 msghand thread interrupt
2016-02-04 03:21:06 net thread interrupt
2016-02-04 03:21:06 Shutdown: In progress...
2016-02-04 03:21:06 StopNode()
2016-02-04 03:21:06 HOdlcoinMiner terminated
2016-02-04 03:21:06 keypool return 2
2016-02-04 03:21:06 Shutdown: done
2016-02-04 03:21:22 GUI: "registerShutdownBlockReason: Successfully registered: HOdlcoin Core didn't yet exit safely..."

let it be known the client never closed, my net wasent interrupted, nor did i initiate anything on the client ;\
so idk , fired it back up and seems to be working now Wink  debug showing "search finished and the hashes" so seems to be back to normal but figured i would let you know if only for debug purposes Wink
love the coin man, i shall continue to mine as i am a big fan of alternate algos

~Got this girl in my bed, a roof over my head, i mint a couple coins a week, and thats how i make bread~

Got two Blocks over night. More than 100 coins already. Very awesome, like it!
Especially the Computer is not so heating up using CPU instead of my Graphic Card.
Also doing term deposits works very well and smooth.
Surprised how easy and userfriendly this is already.  Smiley

Great work FreeTrade!

Hey thanks! I'm glad its working out for you. I'm planning to put in a menu option to start/stop mining to make it even easier.

Also today note the max APR is down from 4286% to 4270% . . . max APR will decline every day until the end of bonus period in 2 years.
