so what is the algo here? not revealed in the op

Its a modified version of Momentum.

sry i did not follow that coin, what it is the algo exatcly? and is this minable or the diff is too high?

It's a brand new algo.. We haven't settled on a name for it.. Details on it are in the OP..

Quote
1GB AES Pattern Search POW. Pattern Search involves filling up RAM with pseudo-random data, and then conducting a search for the start location of an AES encrypted data pattern in that data. Pattern Search is an evolution of the ProtoShares Momentum PoW, first used in MemoryCoin and later modified for use in CryptoNight(Monero,Bytecoin), Ethash(Ethereum).  CPU/GPU friendly.

Diff is 0.00171950 (time of post)
Hash is 29,934h/s

You can CPU solo mine it straight in the wallet.. Depending on your CPU hash rate and blocks mined will vary

Yes, it is mineable, but right now there is no stand-alone miner nor is there a pool, so the only option is solo mining directly from the wallet/daemon.

how many coin per day with a i7 4790k? just to know before i'm wasting time, because the block reward is too small and the marketcap too high

Well there is not a set number of blocks per day based on CPU models.. So if you would like to try mining follow this guide for Windows..

https://github.com/FreeTrade/HOdlcoin/blob/HODLCoin0.11.3/doc/README.md

If you need Linux the guide has been posted many times a page or two back

Solo mining is highly random, I'd say 1-5 blocks atm. 5 would be quite lucky.

1 block per day is not that bad, this coins is sold at 25k satoshi almost, this mean 0.0125 a day, so around $5

Ok good to know.. Thank you for trying another rig.. So we know as of right now the wallet is not working properly on 15.10.. We will look in to this.. For the mean time 14.04 works just fine.. I'm not sure that will help you.. as i sure these are main rigs and you would rather keep them on 15.10

If you can sell it for 25ksat still I'll be impressed. I was selling for anywhere between 17 and 10k sat

EDIT: on the same machine, there are three other wallets running fine.

Is this other machine running 15.10 as well?

Yes.

I spooled up an Ubuntu 15.10 instance today to test this myself. Nothing fancy going on, even using the distro-provided BDB. Daemon compiles fine (using the --with-incompatible-bdb) config flag and has been running all day.

well actually I'd like to upgrade all my machines to 16.04 as soon as it's available, 'cause it's an LTS.
From my experience, the issue is usually about boost. If I had some more free time, I could try compiling against an older version of libboost. Or db 4.8.

I tried rebuilding from scratch, running the daemon with gen=0, no way.
It crashes without any hint. Not even segfault.
