Good way of thinking Sir.
Bloated blockchains will be bigger and bigger issue in future, better solve this sooner than later.

BTW: PascalCoin solves this quite splendidly:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1583719.msg19265127#msg19265127

Guys, do yourselves a favour and read their V2 whitepaper. Quite mindblowing, imho :-)

Another HIP for your consideration - HIP002

Not urgent by any means, but I wanted to get it out of my head and put it up for discussion.

Are most people simply mining with the wallet (using the wallet mining tool) or are most people solo/pool mining? Is it worth it to use the wallet mining option?

Still seeing some posts caused by confusion over the v3.0.0 chain split.

Problem A) Wow, I'm sure am mining a lot of coins lately!

You're probably using an affected version of 3.0.0 - you're on a minority chain, not many miners there, so mining is easy. Unfortunately it's fools gold as it won't be accepted on exchanges or by other users. Solution, upgrade to version 3.0.1

Problem B) Hey my blocks are stuck!

You've probably recently upgraded to version 3.0.1 - Solution, restart with a -reindex=1 parameter to get unstuck

Problem C) Hey I mined a lot of coins and now they are all gone!

You mined them on the 3.0.0 minority chain - sorry, these aren't valid on the main chain. Solution, redouble your mining efforts in v3.0.1 .

Looks like a great coin and I mentioned it in the Speculation section last week.   It does seem like it needs a push from a community effort, and to make sure the team motivation isn't centralized only in two or three people.  Is there any bounty for marketing work?  There needs to be a public impression of people liking and using the coin.  Right now, it feels a little obscure, but .5 million marketcap is great work so far.  A lot of crappy coins get notices all over BTCTalk but I hadn't heard much about this one.

I've removed a few posts mentioning a scamming exchange. Please review advice on the main ANN regarding exchanges.

What the hell freetrade, I only said Yobit was on the wrong chain. The guy wanted to by Hodl at a place where he cant withdraw and is not on the right chain. Whats the problem with educating people before they buy a worthless coin. Yobit has been a total pain in the ass from day one. People should know that.

Yeah, just think we've had enough discussion of that exchange here. They are no longer on any chain and there is a clear warning about them on the ANN.

Hi, I'm using a spare computer for the wallet and mining with it.  When it set up, it asked for number of cores and realize I should have put it at 1 but just thought I could change it later.  How can I change it now?  It's running at 2 cores and making this machine unstable.

I tried to deposit coins from coinexchange and got them returned with:  Auth Timeout / Reversed

I have 2 computer mining on optiminer.pl
My local hashrate is well sustained over 400.
On the pool it consistently reports < 50.
How is this possible?

Pool reports probably showing you wrong hash rate or it calculate hash rate per hour and you re mining couple of minutes.

Hi paramind22,
you can set the number of cores to use with the startup flag -genproclimit=1 , default is -1 which means al cores.
this can also be set in a file called hodlcoin.conf in the same directory as where your wallet.dat is stored.

Thanks.

I created a hodlcoin.conf file with just that line and it didn't take.  This is just a spare computer I picked up and it didn't give me permission to write in program files directory so I just copied that whole directory to my c:/mining directory and restarted the program from there.  Hopefully, that will be ok, as it did launch, but there must be other stuff needed in the hodlcoin.conf file.

Also, you said default is -1 which means all cores?  I just want to use one core out of two.
