Hello fellow Lisk members, i am new on this website. I am following the crypto world since Bitcoin hit the 120dollar. I invested in many coins like Dogecoin, Litecoin, but nothing like Lisk. I am from the Netherlands (Delft), i am a student of the TU Delft (Delft University of Technology) where i study Information Technology. I like the idea of running for a delegate and i will use the rewards to increase the further develepoment of Lisk. My server specs where i will run my node with: 4 CPU 4GB Memory 90GB SSD Space 4TB Traffic Limit 10Gbit Connection Uptimte 99-100% (24/7) I hope for your support. https://forum.lisk.io/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=152Hi Xirdo. There has been a lot of discussion of the voting system lately. It would take me an hour to quote all of the relevant posts to my view on it.
As stated previously, with Crypti, I was in favor of having 1 XCR represent 1 vote instead of up to 101 votes, each for a different delegate, and I still feel that 1 Lisk should represent 1 vote for 1 delegate, so a vote from an account with 100 Lisk for 2 delegates would be a vote for 50 Lisk of each delegate voted for. I would also rather see that the voting UI allow the user to apportion his vote as a percentage with a default to an equal apportion to each delegate voted for, so an account with 100 Lisk would give 50 votes to each of 2 delegates voted for by default, but could be set to give 25 votes to one and 75 to the other by setting the votes to 25% and 75% in the Voting UI.
The problem with the current system is it allows the same voting block to decide all 101 delegates if they have a majority. This would be much harder to do with the proportional voting where 1 Lisk only counts for 1 vote. The argument for giving 1 Lisk up to 101 Votes is that it prevents someone from securing a delegate spot by holding 1% of the Lisk, but by consuming the votes to hold that one spot it makes it a lot harder for that same holder to collude with other large holders to secure all 101 spots.
One way to compromise between the two systems would be to have ranked voting. The order of the votes up to a maximum of 100 chosen by the user would determine a decreasing number of votes for each delegate chosen, so a vote for three delegates from an account with 100 Lisk would give the first delegate on the list 100 votes, the second 99 votes, the third 98 votes. A vote for 100 delegates from an account with 100 Lisk would give the first delegate 100 votes and the 100th delegate 1 vote. Ideally, the Voting UI should have a drag'n'drop interface for setting the order of the candidates.
Ranked voting would alleviate the problem of a voting block potentially determining all of the delegates, but does add a significant amount of complexity to the code. I would still rather see 1 Lisk = 1 vote for 1 delegate.

Want to announce my new service here, I have been in crypto for a long time and really like what Lisk is trying to do. I wanted to contribute and develop a fully automated Lisk pool (the first?). LiskPool.comhttps://www.liskpool.comLiskPool will reward all voters with a share of the pool rewards + fees. Atleast 85% of the pool income will be paid to the voters 15% will be used to pay for the servers and future pool development (this might change depending on the Lisk price). All delegates are hosted in datacenters in the EU/US. Payouts are processed automatically when your balance reaches 10 Lisk. Rewards are calculated based on the amount of votes for LiskPool delegates, voting for other delegates (decreases the LiskPool delegate ranking) decreases your payout. All payouts are processed automatically to your Lisk address, all you have to do is vote for the LiskPool delegates. LiskPool aims for multiple delegates but will never run more then 33 delegates. LiskPool is ready now and will be available the moment Lisk launches, until then we will be stress testing our pool on our own Lisk testnet. At launch we will start with 10 forging servers(delegates), all 33 delegate names will be registered at launch to avoid name squatting by someone else. The idea of the 101 delegates is to secure the network with 101 independent and different nodes, run by 101 different people. This pool wants to run up to 33% of all delegates. Meaning, they control 33% of the complete network. What stops them to setup 50 or 80 nodes? That is exactly like a bitcoin mining pool with 33% mining power. And everybody agrees that the centralization problem is pretty severe. The pool is buying all his votes with money. The idea of the voting model is to provide good quality service to secure the network to get voted. Not buying votes. You would't want that Trump or Hillary pays 50$ to everybody who votes for them, right? It doesn't help to secure the network. To the contrary. It makes it much more weak. It only help the runner of the pool and it's voters to get more money.
