It could happen. Especially if the view from the market capitalization of ETH is right below BTC. If the ETH market capitalization continues to increase then it is not impossible to defeat BTC. And if the capitalization is above BTC then ETH can be said next generation of BTC
In terms of capitalization, ETH is now far behind the BTC, and in terms of value per coin, they are also far behind the BTC, so it can be surpassed by the BTC. can I believe this will never happen

ETH is a different type of coin to BTC, so they shouldn't be seen as direct competitors. The selling point of Ethereum, the use-case, is that it is a smart contract platform. BTC doesn't offer this functionality.

Nevertheless, it is Bitcoin for the entire cryptocurrency market, and this despite the fact that almost more than half of all cryptocurrencies are created on the erc-20 platform. I think that exactly ethereum should occupy a leading position in the cryptocurrency market.

Maybe, 3-5 years should pass to get the answer to this question. Now, I do not think that it is possible. I suppose that BTC will remain the leader for at least until 2021. What will happen then? Difficult to judge.
I agree with you, it will be difficult to predict whether there will be a good change this year or as you say 3-5 years later, that bitcoin will definitely remain the foremost and ethereum can only follow from behind because in any case bitcoin is still better than ethereum itself

No, the ETH is not a new generation of Bitcoin. This is completely different.
At a minimum, I consider it wrong to compare centralized and decentralized currency.
In general, Bitcoin is an innovation and all other altcoins are just an attempt to add something to innovation. It is for this reason that none of the existing altcoins can be called a new generation.

Right now, price of ETH is low, is there again rise in the ETH ?  I can see eth going above bitcoin because of combination between drop in the price of bitcoin and increase in the price of eth.
Ethereum is good for become a bitcoin rival, but don't forget about other altcoin which has a great opportunity like ethereum to shift the position of bitcoin at this time

ethereum is the next generation of cryptocurrency, after BTC, because as I know blockchain of eth and btc have nothing common
is not just about ethereum how about other altcoin like XRP with backed by banker, NEO with big community, EOS are bringing new technology in blockchain and other altcoin like Litecoin, DASH and etc
