Just heard this from a friend..  Alfa Romeo is after Bottas and Toto Wolff has also supposedly said in one interview that he had a hard talk wlth Bottas.  Well then, it looks like Russell is going to Mercedes after all.    I’m surprised that I’m the only one surprised.  Lol.  I really thought Bottas staying at Merc was a lock.

I have long thought that Russell will go to Mercedes, Mercedes will build a successor after Hamilton and Russell won't wait forever for a chance, otherwise Russell is probably still at Red Bull.

But why would Alfa Romeo be interested in Bottas? Bottas is no better than Raikkönen and Ferrari will want to bring in a young driver if Raikkönen retires. Bottas is not an upgrade for Alfa Romeo and for me not a logical solution for Ferrari/Alfa Romeo.

But as far as I know Russel is not one of the richest drivers who will come with great sponsors after him so this guy really rely on pure talent to make it to top teams. Honestly , Mercedes should make a decision in this summer break and announce Russel for the next year at Mercedes. I just don't want to see him becoming another Ocon case...cause Ocon is talented too but he had no seats on Mercedes but I'm glad he took 3 years extension with Alpine.

I don’t know about you’ll but reading what you’ll just said made me visualise like I was reading a Hollywood movie script, and to be honest I loved every part of it as we don’t get to see these kind of results often in a season. However as you’ll have rightly said the chances of this happening is rare, but I’m yet praying it does happen because I’m bored to see the same results season after season.

Lol, I didn't write it to make it sound like a Hollywood script, but when rereading it yeah that kind of sounds like a big funny script that could be in a Hollywood movie. I assume it will probably be a huge deal for "drive to survive" on netflix for sure, they love it when there are these things. I am confident that this crash will have its own full episode for sure, we are going to see things we haven't seen in a long time. Hell there were people calling Christian Horner "racist" because he said Hamilton knew what he was doing when they crashed, so basically he said Hamilton "wanted" the crash to happen, but that is not racist at all right? Telling a racer wanting a crash to happen has absolutely no race in it, so how come people called him racist?

Because, there ARE racist people out there and they used Horners words as a way to put race into it as well, so people put all those racist comments pressure into Horner and dude had to say racism is unwanted in F1 just because people twisted his words and now a guy who was mad at Hamilton had to defend Hamilton against others. Mercedes is AMAZING at flipping the script. This is going to be some amazing netflix special I will tell you Great season coming up after this season ends .

yeah I think that Ferrari will move Mick Schumacher from Haas to Alfa Romeo that if Raikkönen leaves Alfa,
I think that Mick is not happy at Haas as the car is not up with the standards. The car have been the worst in the track most of the races it occupies the last two finishing positions. That made Ralf Schumacher the ex F1 driver  and oncle of Mick to say that Mick should abandons the Ferrari Academy driver and move to RedBull or Mercedes Academy driver programs as Alphatauri have been the strongest among the middle teams.
This means that if Ferrari is believing in Mick talents they should upgrade him for a better car that Alfa Romeo currently have.

I've only heard that Russell might be an option at RedBull, but he's a junior Mercedes driver, so it's not easy and I guess the Chance for RedBull and Russell are bed.

Why do you think Bottas is better than Kimi? I don't think so, even if Kimi is not the world champion he used to be, but Bottas is not an upgrade for me, I think after next year Kimi will retire and Bottas won't get a contract with any team.

Just as you write, he is an average driver who is reliable, nothing more, nothing less.

If Rosberg hadn't suddenly ended his career, Bottas would never have got the seat in a top team. For Hamilton, he is the ideal second string, he does what the team says and is not a threat to him in the fight for the world title.

But for Alfa Romeo and the Ferrair family, he has no added value in my opinion.

Toto already said during this winter something like that.

"William needed to keep the appeal for selling the team with Russell in the squad. If they weren't selling the team Russell was already here in Mercedes".

These are not the same words used by him but it was the concept.

I am not sure that Bottas was taken into the team precisely for the sake of creating competition with Hamilton. Valteri is an excellent partner and does not create excessive nervousness or excessive competitiveness in the relationships in the team and in previous seasons, with his piloting, he helped Mercedes win the Constructors ' Cup. But recently, the level of his results has fallen and therefore there is a question about the possibility of changing the co-pilot of the team. Also, Mercedes would probably like to have a driver in its squad right now who could claim the title after Hamilton's career ends, and Russell is perfectly suited for this role.

Next 2 week MotoGP on Austria, Red Bull String Circuit (8th August). The racer still has a long weekend, for now, At the moment, Quartararo is still on top with 156 points, 34 points better than Zarco in 2nd position. He enough surprised me, never touches in 1st position Zarco has better points than others. while Miller got 1st position on Spain and France but his position is far from Zarco.

Exactly, but I can imagine Raikkonen driving another year. But it all comes up, and Giovanazzi is also still, just wait and see if he gets a new contract. Unfortunately Alfa is also one of the worst teams and it is also very difficult to drive with the Alfa in the points. You can see it every weekend that it is very difficult with the Alfa to get under the points, without failures and a happy race course it is not possible with the Alfa.

With Mick you have to see if he has what it takes for a top team.

Hard to see any outcome for either team that causes a change in what has already been decided, as everything hinges on there being new evidence that wasn't available at the time. But it's understandable that Red Bull are making the attempt, given the financial implications of rebuilding the car, and then a potential grid penalty for Max at some later point as a result of taking replacement parts.

^  I think the guys at RBR are under pressure imho.  Wasn’t this the same situation when Hamilton was down by 8 points against Vettel at this duration of the season in 2018 and Hamilton still ended up winning the driver’s championship?  Things are gonna be interesting from here on.

I'm looking forward to this series after almost a month off. There are still many series, many possibilities happen. But in some media I read that many predict Quartararo as the champion. Regarding ducati, I'm very surprised they were able to make almost the same bike. The temporary ranking results can show that. Besides that, I'm also curious about Marquez, the two previous series he was very good.

Yeah, I have seen this news. But I don't think that FIA will change Hamilton's place in the last race. The evidence Red Bull is going to provide will be really important about this. If it's not found enough, there shouldn't be any change. So many people are going to be waiting for this decision. Especially Hamilton fans wouldn't be very happy if FIA increases his penalty.

Yeah, I have seen this news. But I don't think that FIA will change Hamilton's place in the last race. The evidence Red Bull is going to provide will be really important about this. If it's not found enough, there shouldn't be any change. So many people are going to be waiting for this decision. Especially Hamilton fans wouldn't be very happy if FIA increases his penalty.

It seems unlikely there will be any change. I can't really think what new evidence there could be, other than my suggestion above. As with all sports, important decisions have to be taken very quickly whilst the event is still in progress, so they are forced to rush to quick judgements... and then afterwards, when the officials have time to view everything and make a more considered ruling, it is of course too late as the event has already ended. It is difficult for them, and I'm not surprised that both Red Bull and Mercedes feel aggrieved. It's impossible really for both teams to come away happy with whatever the final decision is.

Helmut Marko himself said that they have new evidence that shows that it was clearly hamiltons fault and that is why they are trying to reopen that case. As far as i know the sports law only allow to reopen a case if strong new evidence comes up so we will probably know pretty soon if this new evidence really exists and if it is that clear. I also completely understand Red bull that they are trying everything to in that case because last race was a huge loss for them both financially and in the championship. Verstappen would have probably won that race or finished at the second place at the very least and now he has 0 points and hamilton won which is the absolute worst case for them.

The arguments between RedBull (Marko) and Mercedes (Wolf) are becoming ridiculous to me. It was a racing accident with a penalty for Hamilton (even if the penalty was very mild), but RedBull should concentrate on the next races and not kick after the fact. Doesn't it really bring anything?

Full concentration on the next races at redbull would be more sensible...

TDLR steward dismissed the appel from Redbull against Hamilton for the "weak" penalty for the accident caused 2 weeks ago.
