It was expected that they would leave F1 since their performance was getting worse and they could not keep up with the development of other manufacturers. However, with Renault's exit from F1, it will also create instability for Alpine, because from the information circulating that many Alpine employees protested against it since they had been developing the engine expected for 2026. But Renault's own reasons are quite considered because they want to reduce the financial risk because of their involvement in F1. But whatever it is, Renault must have considered carefully about their departure from F1 and hopefully it will be the best choice for Alpine.

I'm not sure about instability.
I think it is the opposite.
Having a Mercedes engine is a good move, they are very stable with no problems and a lot of power.
Even a second hand engine from them will be better than one created by Renault to be honest.


Maybe now we have too many Mercedes engines.

Mercedes engines are use by / will be used by

Mercedes 2030 and beyond probably
McLaren 2030
Aston Martine 2025 -> they will go to Honda
Alpine 2030
Williams 2030






But they weren't really that good before the switch to the V6 turbos, so I wonder what the changes for 2026 will bring for all these guys.  As the specs will feature more power from the electrical side, which engine manufacturer has the advantage over the others?  Mercedes probably but what about Honda?  I think Japan has done a lot of work on electric engines...  And Ferrari..?  I think you def know more than me.  But I could see they have something going on in that front.

And Lewis Hamilton didn't go there without a good reason.  The guy has a nose for which team is gonna be build the best car as he did with Merc.

Let's remember the final condition of driver and constructor standings.  Smiley

The championship race between Verstappen and Norris is still live but it isn't a very realistic possibility as of now. Because there is a situation like even if Norris wins every remaining race including the sprint ones also, Verstappen can still retain his title by finishing each one of them right behind him. I mean there isn't any guarantee for Verstappen to do so but neither there is for Norris.

Colapinto came started to collect points right away.  Grin  The problem was really Sargeant at Williams as it seems.



When it comes to contructors, McLaren is really going for the title! I don't think they will let Red Bull or Ferrari get ahead in the remaining time. Ferrari might even finish ahead of Red Bull but they need to improve that poor performance in Singapore.

I hate the fact that we have 1 month break after the summer break of another month, 1 month ago
This is just terrible, are they incompetent and can't they do a better calendar?
Is it so hard?

This is the season with most races ever in F1 and somehow they managed to insert 2, 1 month breaks on it.
According to this article, this scheduling change happened because F1 wants to reduce its carbon footprint[1]. Next year's schedule should be better since they can move the schedule easily with better feedback, but there's no guarantee they won't do another fuck-up. I'm pretty sure they will fix this sooner or later if they lose money because nobody watches the race. CMIIW.

In this regard, it is hilarious to imagine that Formula 1 has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, in other words... that they promise to drastically reduce their carbon pollution and remove any remaining residue from the atmosphere.
Not even "Formula E" is capable of this, since it has already been proven that the process for manufacturing batteries is as polluting, if not more so, than a combustion engine in its entire lifespan.

Anyway, I believe that this is just a way for them to try to show themselves to be more "aware" of the environmental problems of today's world and thus obtain subsidies and more sponsors without anyone continuing to criticize their actions. Just as happens in many countries, F1 will continue to burn fossil fuels and will have to offset carbon emissions by planting trees or financing environmental projects in institutions that can offset their environmental losses.

After watching FP1 and Practice in Motegi Japan today, it seems that the Sprint race and the full race could be fierce because in FP1 Bagnaia successfully took first place, while in the Practice that just finished Brad Binder successfully became the fastest on the Motegi circuit in Japan. The Japanese manufacturers themselves were really overwhelmed even though they were racing in their own country because in terms of racing they always need better power and balance to be able to win on any circuit.

Yup and if the commentators start doing the 'mathematically the fight for the championship is still open' thing then I prolly stop watching the rest of the season.  They just want to keep us interested and make us think that there's still something going on but really, it's already done.  And with McLaren's technical advantage banned and gone for the reat of the season, just watch Ferrari get most of the second and third on the podium for these next races.

McLaren's advantage is gone folks.  There's nothing to see here anymore...  They don't have the best car.  And the funny is...  Leclerc could snag second in the driver's championship.

Good news for F1 fans.

FIA decided that for the season 2026 when teams will use a new kind of engine, more efficient, more electrical etc, that they will increase the tests.
I think that now we are in a 3 day per year in preseason.

For 2026 we will have 3days 3 times, so a total of 9 days of test due the new engine meta.

Not sure if 2027 we will have 3 days or 9.

I'm not sure about instability.
I think it is the opposite.
Having a Mercedes engine is a good move, they are very stable with no problems and a lot of power.
Even a second hand engine from them will be better than one created by Renault to be honest.


Maybe now we have too many Mercedes engines.

Mercedes 2030 and beyond probably
McLaren 2030
Aston Martine 2025 -> they will go to Honda
Alpine 2030

What I mean by instability is not the engine, but from the side of the workers. Regarding the Mercedes engine, we don't need to question its stability anymore, McLaren is one of the proofs of how if a team with an engine from another manufacturer can achieve good performance, even exceeding the team of the engine manufacturer. But this is an internal matter of Alpine whose employees from the engine development side clashed with the decision - but maybe it just takes time for them to adjust to the Mercedes engine.

IF williams still in this path for this lasts race of the season i can see them overpassing HAAS and RB teams at the end of the season, and that it can be a super blow for the other teams and a super bump in energy and money for the Williams team.

Anyway, I believe that this is just a way for them to try to show themselves to be more "aware" of the environmental problems of today's world and thus obtain subsidies and more sponsors without anyone continuing to criticize their actions. Just as happens in many countries, F1 will continue to burn fossil fuels and will have to offset carbon emissions by planting trees or financing environmental projects in institutions that can offset their environmental losses.

Money generating more money and attracting media attention... nothing new Cool
They do not really consider battery resources as polluting when they are calculating, that's why. They consider how much they are polluting while racing, that's it, and they say they are going to be net negative when they are racing eventually, which we all know won't happen because of mining, but they will only consider the races, well of course practice and qualifying too, but not the battery manufacturing.

That is something that needs to be change all together in the world, not just for formula, but MANY people are buying electric cars thinking they are doing a good thing for the world and climate, while not really helping with anything, this needs to be a bigger issue and let everyone know how much it hurts the world to build one electric vehicle.

In the end, its still better way forward because if they can make the batteries out of something more renewable or sustainable that doesn't hurt the world, then the whole problem goes away, combustion engines do not have that potential.

Starting the Sprint from first position was clearly very good for Pedro Acosta even though at the start of the Sprint he was immediately overtaken by Bagnaia, but he also had a better time to catch Bagnaia again after a few laps. McLaren's advantage is gone folks.  There's nothing to see here anymore...  They don't have the best car.  And the funny is...  Leclerc could snag second in the driver's championship.

Not exactly. When Norris won by this big of a time gap in Singapore, McLaren already had a new wing after the previous one providing a mini DRS was found illegal.  Smiley



Ah thanks for pointing that out...  Mmm ok, so we already saw how their car performs in a street circuit.  I wanna see it perform in a proper F1 track and I guess the next race will def show just that at Circuit of The Americas in Texas.

But if Norris is still fast in his McLaren then we'll def have some interesting races coming up til the end of the season.  Wink  It's gonna be the start of Red Bull's down fall imho, thanks to Jos Verstappen for disturbing the peace within the team.  I hope Horner leaves too.

Bagnaia managed to win the sprint race so now the leader board is short once again.

Martin is still leading but his advantage is reduced to only 15 points ahead of Bagnaia.
Bastianini is in 3rd position but he is too far away to have some chances, he is at -72 points.
