Wheew, I don't know if they're officially sold out now like the website says, but I got one about a half our ago.  It was an absolute NIGHTMARE because I lost my secure card, tried to print the thing, closed the webpage, it wouldn't let me see it again.  I called tech support like mad to get it back, took long enough.  Finally got the BTC transferred to walletbit, and then finally paid before refreshing and seeing them sold out.

I even just got off the phone with Chris at Walletbit, he said the Avalon transactions were up that day and running smoothly.  So it's legit.

Yeah, that "secure card" thing is kinda annoying.  When I first read about it being "installed in the browser" I thought it was a plug-in, but it's nothing more than a pop-up window with some HTML.  They just make the link to it hard to find for some dumb reason.

You have to first login to walletbit.com, then go to "Account", and click the blue "WalletBit Secure Card" button near the top of the main content pane.

It's been a very stressful moment to checkout via WalletBit. Didn't understand the secure card thing because I was in a rush so logged out and sent my bitcoins to the address supplied as a guess. I hope everything is fine, still anxiously waiting for a confirmation email. I even rounded the amount and sent a bigger tx fee just to make sure everything will make it through.

More and more people are doing it. I got a confirmation from Avalon that my order is OK :-) So not so insane after all!

Whether something is insane or not is in no way affected by the eventual result. Thinking otherwise is a certificate of being 15 years old.

I thought you'd have to be crazy to use "insane" to describe an action instead of people. However:

Quote
in·sane
/inˈsān/
Adjective
1. In a state of mind that prevents normal perception, behavior, or social interaction; seriously mentally ill.
2. (of an action or quality) Characterized or caused by madness.

Still, I'm the not sure DSM V includes as a definition of any of the various types of mental illness purchasing a high risk item from an online store that has recently functioned somewhat eratically using a payment processor that seems to have added to the problem.

That'd be pretty queer, seeing how the DSM V includes pretty much everything else + the kitchen sink. They must have overlooked the sensible in their quest for the universally far fetched.

Yes, what happened to the trade in option? The "Get Credit" button never worked and when I finally found out that you had to go to the store first it was too late. The option had disappeared never to return. What's up? Will it re-appear?

Did anybody successfully do a trade in?

No update, no warning, no mail, reopened silently.. I'm very very disapointed.. All those hours lost for nothing.. and 1.5 BTC lost for a deposit in walletbit..

Just hope BFL will deliver something real and much better to kick Avalon's ass real hard !  I'm quite angry !

I just realized, that I have still another Browser Windows Open with 1 unit in Shopping Cart. Do you think I could do a payment as there is the option to checkout?
Although I dont need it because I only wanted one Asic.

I would give it to someone who missed but think there is no possibility...

Well for the optimists out there who may have missed out, I would encourage users wanting avalons to notice a couple pertinent facts. This webpage:

http://store.avalon-asics.com/?wpsc-product=avalon-asic-unit

says
1) Status: processing orders
2) Disclaimer: As orders are not paid for, quantities may become available without notice.

Also
3) as Avalons arrive throughout the next few months, there will undoubtedly be re-sellers who simply wish to quickly ship the product to a new owner (for a profit)
4) The batch #3 preorders have a shipping time slated for April 5th.  This is just the tip of the iceberg.
