@BitSyncom I visited the place in person this afternoon, and have returned 14 Lancelot + 1 Icarus to the guy at #2319. Hope to receive my Avalon soon.

Damn it, am I missing something? I'll ask again, I'm not sure I understand how this trade-in will work... Didn't every batch 2 customer already paid his order in full? Was there a trade-in option on the site when buying from batch 2 that I missed? If people that have already paid their order in full send units for trade-in what kind of benefit will they get? A refund of the 300 dollars for each Icarus/400 dollars for each Lancelot? Or will they get credit towards a future Avalon purchase?

Many trade-in customers have neither ordered, nor paid yet. If you have FPGAs then you can just send them to China for trade in.

Well, I just shipped my Icarus via DHL this morning. The price was around $220, so, not cheap. Sad

I've been posting regular updates on my Batch #2 status/process here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=150324.0

I am hoping this will give others in the community an idea of what to expect for Batch #2 regular order and Batch #3 and beyond.

And after sending the FPGAs, how do you purchase a discounted Avalon? The "trade-in / get credit" link on http://launch.avalon-asics.com/ never worked (I tried before, during, and after the 2 waves of batch 2). I was able to order during the 2 waves of batch 2, and because the link was not working, I ended up paying full price each time.

I think I will not even bother attempting to trade in my Icarus units. Instead I will resell them.

I had this exact same problem and concerns. I ended up just doing an order as well. I still plan to do the tradeins, however. Even without any sort of official statement on price.

Believe me, you should not have any problems finding someone to purchase them from you. I received several offers just by posting the post in the link on my signature. Being able to move to the front of the Batch orders is a huge deal, and it's easily worth a little more than the trade-in value, IMHO. I'd offer to buy yours from you myself if I wasn't already looking at having to pay the difference for several Avalons already.

DHL just called me and told me that there is a $30 import duty for my FPGAs and Yifo & co refuses to pay for that.
Avalon doesn't answer support questions so what do I do now? If I don't hear from them soon the package is returned to me!

What was declared value of your RMA? if it was to high shit can happen:)
RMA means broken so 10 USD should be more than enough and duty free Smiley

I didn't declare the real value but still higher than zero Wink Still, $30 is not a big deal, I wish they could just pay for it and deduct the cost from my rebate.

That is bad dude it means that a lot of us will have same problem Sad
PS: is there an option to pay to DHL instead for the customs. This will save us some trouble?

excuse me? on our end we don't even get notices for that. I'm pretty sure DHL asked you to pay this fee, but you now blamed me and Avalon for this?

based on these lies I should just not honor your trade in.

pay the import duty.

There must be some misunderstaning here. I'm not blaming you!

But DHL refuses to let me pay the money to them because i don't have an account with them. I didn't know there would be an extra cost. Sorry.

I have a ticket in your system, could you take a look at it? #684

Same here.
Ive already send my fpga via dhl a few days ago.
Today they gave me a call, saying that the person in china have to pay fees of 20$.
The person in china refused to pay.
And theres no way, i can pay those fees my self..

So i decided to send those 20$ directly to the person in china...
But he declined this offer too..

If nothing changes.
Tomorrow my package is gonna be returned.

150$ trashed)

Well, i guess, theres only one way to send it, via ems.

I think Yifu, would've warned us about things like that, but he also didnt know... Undecided

You cant declare a smaller amount of money, because than the customs are gonna eat you...

So, we're all in the same boat.

Bitsyncom/Avalon needs to get on the ball. At least give us a way to pay this obstinate Mr. Chen. One of the posters in this thread has offered me to get the money to Mr. Chen, but I hesitate to use that option if there is another way. I'll leave it up that user to reveal himself if that is what he wants.

Since it's RMA I low balled, and declared it as "electronics" worth about $175. 10 boards. Don't know if that was too low or too high or whatever. I'm a shipping noob.

Avalon should have done a default value.
Now Mr Chen gets -within a few days- many shipments with different values.
All RMA, same content, home address?

Hope that works. Huh

I'm hoping my EMS shipments go better.  I declared them as RMA/Returned Merchandise.

For anyone not wanting to deal with the trade-in, if you'd rather just sell your Icarus or Lancelot, I would gladly buy it from you at a premium price, and use it myself for trade-in.  PM me if you're interested.
