Hm, would you mind explaining, what it is this Change actually does? From the comments, I then don't quite get it (and I'm confused about this "active coins participating").
Thanks a lot!
Kernel hash checking is performed using this condition:

hash(kernel) <= bnTarget * nValue * nTimeWeight

If nTimeWeight starts from zero, then immediate block generation will be prevented even with extremely low difficulty.

This feature is active from being of time startup of chain, but the TimeWeight is limited by 60 days, which is wrong. This will be fixed since 1 January 2014.

I read in this thread that it's being tested, but when I saw it in http://sourceforge.net/projects/novacoin/files/ and not in http://sourceforge.net/projects/novacoin/files/experimental/ , I was of course assuming that it's already production Quality...
So perhaps it should be moved there, and to avoid confusion give it a new Name like 0.4.4.6 for the bugfixed Version :-)
It's quite stable but has some minor issues. But you are right, it should be moved into experimental folder, I'll ask the account owner to do so.

Thanks for the Explanation - now I can also see it in the source :-)
So nTimeweight would be higher than now from coin-age day 90 on onwards, so basically smaller amounts of NVC that took more than 90 days before the change would generate PoS faster, right? (assuming same PoS difficulty as right now, I guess it might adjust a bit after the switch)

Thanks!
Mike

ok - how much time should i wait for POS reward from 100NVC imput after 30days. more then 3days?
Expect about 35-45 days in total, i.e. 5-15 days after the 30 days are over.

Explorers at novacoin.ru & novacoin.su will be shut down in the near future, because we don't need so much explorers. We already have http://nvc.cryptocoinexplorer.com and http://explorer.novaco.in, I guess that's enough for our purposes.

Hi,

is there some way to create a printable passphrase-protected private key like you can do on http://www.bit2factor.org/ for Bitcoin private keys?
That site refuses a novacoin private key as Input, not sure if just patching out a check would work but would prefer having a better solution than that :-)
Then I could have it printed on, say, a coffee mug that I Keep in the Office in case my flat burns down to the grounds :-)

Thanks!

Decentralized Ascending Auctions on Blockchain

I was using a recent cgminer with fsb p2pool. One of the nice things of the recent developments (post 3.6.6) in git with cgminer was the stats were revamped to work correctly with low share difficulty, so that I was finally seeing shares greater than 0. Then some changes were done in the 3.7 line so that I was getting 100% false positive HW errors. I filed a bug report in the cgminer thread here only to be told by Con Kolivas that GPU and Scrypt support was being dropped from cgminer.  Embarrassed Needless to say I was irritated, but arguing with BitCoin fanboys was futile; the git tree was quickly updated to remove all support for GPU and Scrypt.

I am quite disappointed, but wanted to know if there are any better alternatives for mining Novacoin? I hear that reaper is no longer maintained.

http://nvc.cryptocoinexplorer.com is currently stuck at block 55673.
http://explorer.novaco.in is currently stuck at block 55745.

Only http://novacoin.ru/ appears to be working at the moment and is already at block 55756. Maybe it's a good idea to have more than two block explorers?  Roll Eyes
