Not likely with the current market capitalization!! It would absolutely be possible with an altcoin though.

Yes, with an unknown altcoin it's pretty easy but not with Bitcoin. And even if we could do it, I personally against the *PUMP AND DUMP* strategy. What will be the price of Bitcoin after that DUMP? Do we really need that? PUMP and DUMP game is a complete gambling type, you will only make money if you will guess the right thing to happen but for real investor we can on the long term interest of the coins and not just short term, and for me the most legitimate coin that could give that to us is only bitcoin. |

Manipulate with bitcoin price is possible but if you want do that it is better for you if you want that to find users which have big amoumts of bitcoin because bigger group with smaller btc amounts will manipulate really hard but with less number of group users with bigger amounts is more easy.

I don`t know much about bitcoins, but I know a lot about manipulation. Everything can be subject of manipulations, look around the world what kind of things are happening all the time. I would change only one thing in your headline, its word "we". We cant do anything, but they can do a lot of things we cant even imagine. Who are they is consipracy theory, and this is not place for that probably. Who knows even now is this price real or its just product of manipulation.

Of course, that should be the way to do it but I wonder if anyone can do now as we are already a huge market with big group of whales on board and definitely they have different interest so they cannot easily manipulate the price as the other may lose when the benefit of a certain group will be served. |

I know there are many big players who manipulate bitcoin price and make huge profits but can we the bitcointalk members also form a cartel and let bitcoin price never fall?is it possible that we manipulate price as I am sure most of bitcoin users visit this forum
It's possible that the members can decide to make the price go up if we all agreed into it. I'm sure that there are members here who hold big amount of bitcoin and when others having small amount will add into it then the amount accumulated will be big enough to manipulate the prices. The problem is that when there's no bitcoin anymore to pump it so the price will start to go down and those who bought when the price is still almost in the ceiling will lose. The bitcoin price never fall as what you say will not happen because time will come when there's no one who is willing to buy because he/she is out of funds or afraid that the price will fall especially if the price is already too high. |

Manipulation of the bitcoin can only be done by the big investors or the whales. They have 10 thousand bitcoin at least. |

Actually in the past, big whales needs lots of dollar to be put in the bitcoin market for price to move. But today, it's different. Whales doesn't need much effort now, at least, to start a trend since no doubt that we have an increase of bitcoin users "who really putting dollar into bitcoin exchanges" to purchase bitcoin. Good example here is the bitcoin halving speculation prior in the halving actual date. |

Where did you get that information, if there is a lack of supply then we must be seeing a good price now and not the decreasing price. In the next few months price will rise but shortage in supplies will not happen because there a lot of bitcoins to mine. |

yes i think your right. there are many people here in this industry that are really greedy and they don't have conscience to the fact that they are only aware of themselves even they don't care if there is other people who will be affected of what they are doing. if we are positively be in one side, it is posible to manipulate. but like what i've said earlier, if there are greedy people, then we can't. |

yes i think your right. there are many people here in this industry that are really greedy and they don't have conscience to the fact that they are only aware of themselves even they don't care if there is other people who will be affected of what they are doing. if we are positively be in one side, it is posible to manipulate. but like what i've said earlier, if there are greedy people, then we can't. you're right, we can not manipulate the price of bitcoin. there is always someone who has more money that can do that. perhaps a large company could manipulate the price of bitcoin, but it probably will only bring a great loss for them, other than that if someone is manipulating the price of bitcoin, I think it would be very risky. |

We might manipulate or affect the bitcoin price in short term. But the bitcoin price is determined ultimately by the adoption. Definitely, the whales can only manipulate the price temporarily like what happen now but the real supply of demand will take over the price with the adoption. And since the adoption is increasing, the longer bitcoins is improving, the more we become stable, it takes time so we should always wait for that. |

You don't need to convince others. All you need are really deep pockets. Put a massive buy wall at a certain price and others will follow your lead. That's how you control anything really, fake a demand then sell when high for profit. Last commenter is totally right though, just have to be willing to empty the bank if you want to control it. |
