As "Nice Try" mentioned above, this is 100% fake. This sort of irresponsible "journalism" is just embarrassing... I mean, they were already fooled once by Wright's obvious fakery.

If Craig's the one, he has to pay a huge amount of taxes and a big fine. He'll def need to use his bitcoin stash to pay. Let's see how this ends, the coins of satoshi should be on the move in the near future.

A Cypherpunk who definitively mistrusts institutionalized finance*, and arguably states as well, wants to create 340GB megablocks so the large banks can control every node..... sure * https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Genesis_block The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks Craig Wright said that he's not interested in money, but wasn't he trying to use his supposed bitcoin holdings as leverage for some investment purpose late last year?

I'm not surprised by journalists being fooled , but shame on Gavin for going along with this shit show to further his agenda.

Why the fuck is it on television, everywhere I see this. Why tell something when there is not any proof yet?
Although bitcoin will get more famous because of this..

It shows BBC does not understand blockchain. Satoshi can easily verify who he is by showing a signature from an old address in public: 'hey, it is me, Satoshi'. But he does not show that. He just wants attention.

It seems quite fake. No valid proofs, and BBC isn't knowledgeable so...

Craig Wright said that he's not interested in money, but wasn't he trying to use his supposed bitcoin holdings as leverage for some investment purpose late last year?
Exactly. But he claims to still have access to the coins but doesn't want to move them out of a trust. Wright appears to trying to pull a con where he makes the world believe he is in possession of 1 million btc locked in a "trust" so he can get respect and investments from people who assume he is insanely wealthy.
The ridiculous thing is that exchanges move their reserves all the time without any problems for auditing and security purposes , because there are practically an infinite amount of public addresses to use, this can be done securely without risk, and doesn't effect the legal ownership he claims to be so concerned about.

If that is true, let him provide evidence.

I think that Gavin should be put through the wringer if he really is backing this bullshit story (just shows how ridiculous he has become in order to try and wrest control over the project).

the only concern i have is that the myth of Satoshi is gone. the market now knows that one man has control of a lot of bitcoin. he says he won't do it, but he could dump the price. makes people nervous. why is ETH rising?

Yes, those coins will tell all. If we never see them moving then, he lies. But hes got all the motivation in the world to sell them and pay the Aussie government.

Same true for Jon Matonis. Meanwhile, more proof just in... "Craig Wright signed my "Guam is Goin' to Sink" manifesto." Note the GMT [time] that this revelation was released.

So just posted to someone in the press thread that they should come say their stuff over here as this is clearly where it's happening... then went and said my piece *over there* ! So, crossposty... Hi Crimbit, consensus is emerging (tee hee!) in this thread... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1457039.0... that definitive proof has not yet been provided. SCW's blogpost isn't the smoking gun. I lack the time and will to follow the chains of reasoning in the 'is it or isn't it' show, so I defer for now to people who say 'it isn't'. Worryingly, Gavin Andresen thinks he's the real deal. I say 'worryingly' as I am a big-blocker and if GA has dropped the ball on this, whether innocently or out of motivated reasoning, it greatly damages 'our' cause. (Digression: 'follow the arguments not the people' is great advice when the arguments can be fully digested by someone prepared to put in the time and effort, and where the questions and proposed solutions are clear-cut. But most real world disagreements are 'messy', and evaluating one's trust in the principal arguers is an imperfect but useful *and rational* way of doing inference)

Why is Gavin participating in this fake? http://gavinandresen.ninja/satoshiWe love to create heroes – but also seem to love hating them if they don’t live up to some unattainable ideal. It would be better if Satoshi Nakamoto was the codename for an NSA project, or an artificial intelligence sent from the future to advance our primitive money. He is not, he is an imperfect human being just like the rest of us. Here's my take. Craig Wright was cut a deal by the NSA (or whatever 3-LA) to continue the ruse with Gavin firmly part of the mix, thus taking the focus off them. I see no logical reasoning for Gavin to pen the above about the NSA while stating categorically that CSW is SN.
