I'm in the process of preparing a new wallet release, which has been overdue for some time.

As for considering switching algos... no. Unless there is a VERY good reason, there is no need to pollute the code any further with these type of changes. We are not here to cater miners, we have plenty of other things to do that can take up our precious time.

Supporters slack is here:

https://aurorafans.slack.com/

I've pushed the development branch onto master. Windows and Ubuntu packages will follow later today (unless something interferes with my schedule). Upgrade is advised, but not required.

there's only one simple reason always present,
do you want to be among the leaders who feed hungry China, or leave that part to other alts.
perhaps not very good reason, but just in case you have some spare time
plz check the latest myriad release and forum discussion behind it.
thx

I'm pretty ignorant about the mining scene. Can you explain this to me... do Chinese miners prefer one particular algo?

There is always a risk that this type of hardware appears, but it isn't an issue as long as the chain is progressing in a stable way. With some luck it brings Chinese tourists to Iceland to spend the money.

I'd say it's a good thing that there are 4 other algos and a consecutive algo block limit then.

Changing out qubit for something else because someone made a $500 miner is silly.  The worst that's going to happen if this becomes super popular is that they are going to keep the chain running and dump coins.  The market is going to determine the price anyway, so that's not a huge issue.  So as long as the chain is running, I'm ok with China making a million of these things.

People will always find a way to mine coins more efficiently.  If we changed algos every time that happened, we would lose dedicated miners who made investments in currently used equipment.  That's not something we're willing to let happen.

The more the merrier Grin

And remember

To make mining a bit easier I put together preconfigured miners for the GPU/CPU friendly algorithms.

It's easy.

1. You need an AUR wallet address.

2. Download the right package for you system and unzip it. Take a look it's self explanatory.

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_P5uOkSANNoYmMycElXaG9ndFU

3. Go the the conf folder per algorithm there is a .conf file open it and replace the existing wallet address with your own.
Safe the file and run the according .bat file.

That's all folks.

The packages for AMD I could not test as I have no AMD Graphics card. So if anyone could give it a try and give me some feedback it would be great.

Edit: the packages are only intended for Windows.

For the people renting hardware to mine Auroracoin use the high difficulty ports for best results

For scrypt this is: stratum+tcp://strataspool.com:3033

For sha256 it is: stratum+tcp://strataspool.com:3043

Happy mining

I did test on AMD cards
On Ubuntu hash-rate is over 1.3 time better than on Windows (skein algo)

thanks for the info.

Unfortunately the report linked from the article seems to have been removed.

Do you have a link or remember the ballpark amount of AUR recovered?

Will it be given back to users?

The document showed 639,159.97 AUR

I had no idea that Cryptsy had that much AUR not returned to users.

edit: looks like it is in the #1 address, regarding amount.
