It is time consuming to confirm the blocks? What is the best pool?
It is easy with wallet, just open Mining tab and hit the button. Chouse Democats pool, it is in english.
You can then watch your stats if you enter your wallet address here http://democats.org/pool/?name=karbowanec

Does this miner (address ends with pGvJMp7CEYPj3ps) have any problem with my pool?
He started with big Hash rate and now only 90h.
No worry, obviously he is  testing pools Smiley

The principle is the same but all methods are different, look in the wiki at github.

How is KRB different from the standard Cryptonote implementation? It seems it is currently very close to stock. If it is, how do you plan on changing it in the future?

Edit:

Here is a question I asked about Karbowanec on the XMR stack exchange.

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/2483/how-is-karbowanec-different-from-monero

I am interested in supporting a "Ukrainian Monero" as you called it earlier. No premine - no ICO is good.

What is your vision for this coin? Helping the Ukrainian people?

Edit:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/2483/how-is-karbowanec-different-from-monero
It is indeed basically the stock Cryptonote implementation, even further, - Bytecoin fork with minor changes. We do not plan to invent any 'fifth wheel', remaining pure digital local money without any features not directly tied to 'money' when changes are concerned. We believe we have good enough foundation to rely upon and focus on missing parts of the necessary infrastructure like web wallet, mobile wallet, tools for merchants, improving usability - all that might drive adoption because nice name is not enough. Later we may merge some elder CN currencie's inventions and improvements like RingCT, blockchain pruning etc. We also are researching motivation of maintaining full open nodes but it is far from completion. We are not going to add merged mining because we think that additional hashrate is not worth getting coin in the hands of miners not directly interested in it as a byproduct of other coin' mining. This is what to expect from this currency realistically.

Edit,
I am interested in supporting a "Ukrainian Monero" as you called it earlier. No premine - no ICO is good.

What is your vision for this coin? Helping the Ukrainian people?

well, it is not based on Monero, though we like its approach on open source development. As it's stated above it's Bytecoin fork, which also did good job in development since the time Monero was forked from it.

If you look upon what's going on in Ukraine, with total mess and ruined everything, war with Russia, society struggling for freedom, democracy, fighting against unbelievable enormous corruption and mafia in government  - isn't it perfect occasion to make loud and epic announcements?

No we are not going to do that. We are realistic, we are not planning to substitute official currency or dominate the world Ukraine. We want it to be local currency in Ukraine, independent and not controlled by ineffective government, unaffected by terrible inflation frauds made periodically here, used along side with other currencies more like club or discount network with own ecosystem of merchants, services and users. We want it to be legal, conform to laws, will gladly cooperate with new progressive people in government if they pay attention to us, though it is highly doubtful. Government shows some signs that they want to innovate and there is still chance that not all is lost: http://forklog.net/cashless-ukraine-the-national-bank-considers-blockchain-technology/

Successful attempt to show that currency is possible in decentralized way would be life achievement. And yes, earn some money would be great too Wink

P.P.S. Yes, everyone likes no ICO no premine, but from the other side - we do not have free KRB to pay for development. Though I am not sure that premined payment for development would have some value. The only way to pay for development we have now is donations based fund raising. Like last fundraising for web wallet. We are going to do that for any development and will see if this currency has decent community capable to fund development realizing that this will drive their KRB capital growth.

For miners if you think you will mine some KRB and sit on it waiting someone  to make you rich - you are wrong. Do something yourself, like  donate 1% of your KRB towards development, spread the word and you will be amazed how it works. You will make rich yourself.

If you have a strong enough vision for Karbowanec, then the donations will come, development will come, merchants will come. Other Ukrainians will get the vision and become passionate too. Strong defined vision is all what matters right now. And, of course, hard work.  Smiley Of course, strong vision is a desire to help Ukraine, not quick money. With no premine and no ICO you will earn that respect and that vision will become stronger. You have earned some respect from me because of this.

I like the limited scope of this coin. The Ukraine focus is your "unique selling proposition": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unique_selling_proposition. It is what makes Karbowanec special, a currency not for the world, just for Ukraine. Very cool. This limited scope will allow you to add many things Monero cannot add, features specific to Ukraine.

Some ideas:

  • Perhaps biggest: Coin with national pride for Ukraine. People use KRB and feel "Yes! We are Ukraine!" Money stays local. Does not leave the country. Generally keeps wealth within Ukraine. People buying from each other helps the country get better and healthier.
  • Decentralized exchange support. "Meet me at coffee shop X in Kiev". People meet up to trade paper currency for KRB. This exchange built into Karbo GUI? Very cool.
  • Education on website about how blockchain tech can help Ukraine, how blockchain tech fights corruption and bribery, etc

In my opinion it is crucial, for the vision, that you communicate some Ukrainian specific features that you might add. It helps people see where this coin is going. It will help generate the support you need to help Karbowanec become the Ukrainian crypto.

Thanks for support.

Ukraine is one the leading countries in blockchain tech so it is strange no Ukrainian currency was started before. Maybe we just did not fully realize what we were doing. Now is too late, we have to push it Smiley

The currency name itself is part of history. We hear both positive and negative feedback on the name due to historical background of people expressing their view, on the currency in general. Some support, some  brush off like another shitcoin. Some are proud that at last there is Ukrainian crypto, some laugh respecting only foreign developers. Well, we don't have big names on the dev list. At least known names.
Devs are unknown due to specific local law enforcement authorities Smiley

A lot of effort needed to educate people who never heard about cryptocurrency, to convince people that this is not another MLM, ponzi scam etc.
We will spread the word in media when we will be ready. I mean when we will have missing parts of the puzzle - already mentioned goodies for convenient use of the currency. At least we need webwallet and mobile wallet. In its current stage we can only advise mining for future.

We will make services taking into account local specific factors.

We have some concerns because of privacy which gives our tech, but we believe that privacy is the people's right and it is our advantage not problem.

BTW, we have been donated  0.37429102 BTC, thanks.   These funds are designated towards development, expenses on hosting and other infrastructure are paid by members.

Ultimate target is that we do not need exchange at all, creating ecosystem where krb can be spent and earned without being exchanged for fiat. This is distant future of course Cheesy

We have very cool blockchain innovations here in Ukraine that should help in fighting bribery, corruption made by professional teams. I wish they pay us some attention and help in development.
Though we might need a lot of effort to educate and convince that privacy in cryptocurrency is crucial and necessary, that it is good for business, for people's freedom.
There are concerns that this tech can be used for illegal deals but it is not currency's blame.
We will educate about advantages which gives fungible and private currency.

OK, we are proud to observe 'multipool effect' on Karbo, when on low hasrate coin comes big miner with massive (in comparizon) hashrate, mines quick blocks and when difficulty raizes he suddenly dissapears leaving the network struggling to get new blocks on high difficulty.

Got some ideas how to improve our difficulty algo but it gonna take some time so we have to deal with it and be patient.

I mine with ~8-10 H/s, so it is not a good news for me (after 36 mining hours I have only 0.018 KRB - so I will finish mining shortly, I have no more capacity).

why is the network speed so high?

It is because of delay in difficulty calculation, - default Cryptonote for calculation of difficulty takes into account window of 360 blocks in our case (in case of for example Monero it is 720 blocks) plus it doesn't take into account 15 last blocks (so called difficulty lag). So after big miner threw in comparatively massive hashrate, mined out a lot of easy blocks and dropped when difficulty became high ther rest of miners  now have to mine a lot of blocks on that difficulty until it falls. Explorer and pools show high hashrate due to how network hashrate is estimated - as difficulty / block target time.  In fact real network hashrate is much lower.
We are working on changing this algo but it will take us some time.
