I just received my S9 and I got it up and mining. I noticed in that in the Firmware version that came with my S9, i don't have the option to adjust fan speed. This results in an annoying increase and decrease of fan speeds, kind of like a breeze with a slight whistle.

Is there anyway to downgrade the firmware so i can have access to customize fan speed percentage under the "Miner Configuration" page?

Model   GNU/Linux
Hardware Version   4.8.1.3
Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-gf387dab-dirty #38 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 17 20:02:51 CST 2016
BMminer Version   2.0.0

batches after 16 can't work on old firmware
that what they told me on there support

We should press them to allow us to manage fan speed
its more disturbing than the previous

im already working with their support and an engineer to get this sorted out. at the very least we need fan speed control....not to lower the speed because its already too damn low but to raise it on one os these "newly designed" s9's. one is missing 1.5th/s which im getting a refund for because its way outta listed spec and the other has a board temp os 101 degrees because the fan speed it only 2280/3600 rpm not to mention the firmware overclocks that board to the damn moon.

Which is why for all miners I've had I always made sure to download/save the different versions shortly after they are released. I usually do not apply the updates but at least I always have the software in storage just in case this happens...

Maybe we should pull from yours and other stashes and make a non-Bitmain source for folks who need 'em.

Same as what I have for the s9's sans the 550M one. All miners I bought were the faster batch releases  Tongue
And of course I have a copy of the latest release but it's not getting ANYWHERE near any of my miners.

And looks like Bitmain released another s9 update dated today https://enshop.bitmain.com/files/download/Antminer-S9-all-201610201049-autofreq-user.tar.gz

"The firmware package of AntMiner S9. This package can make startup faster. And wait more time for hashboard initialization to ensure the hashboard reset all right."

I've got B3 and B10 units. Here's my thoughts on installing new firmware.

Just say no.

I've found the best strategy is point them at a stable pool (I use Kano), leave them alone, and pray you don't lose a blade.

Was I helpful?   BTC: 3G1Ubof5u8K9iJkM8We2f3amYZgGVdvpHr

Hi guys,

the new firmware is very bad. I'm really upset about it and I hope they will fix ASAP what they've broken.
My miner is overheating and I can't select the frequency anymore. It's unbelievable.
The worst thing is we can't download the older firmware in order to do a downgrade as well.

Really really upset.

I would say no.
You could downclock it but I would just leave it.
If the temps are not high and no x's and hashrate is good and it is not DEAD I would just roll with it.

I have found that the one two three order from top to bottom does not match the boards from left to right or right to left.
I just pull the 3 power cables from one board and the hash cable from that board to see which is the offending board.

Was thinking I could grab the high error rate boards from several miners and put them in one and downclock.

Not sure what the algorithm is to set the clock with the new software but that may help.
It sets the clock differently for each board.
You lose the fan speed control though.

Can someone please download these and post them on an English free download site?  I have tried everything trying to get them to download, used google translate from polish to English, tried to figure it out but it wants some kind of code for it to work.

It's really sad that Bitmain won't post the older firmware versions!

Seems Bitcoin Mining is really going downhill this year. If you compare this thread to the S7, its moving at half the speed. Seems everybody is GPU mining now.
