today one of my 2 antminer s9 B12 get dead board with XXX status after restart it work for 15 minutes and stop again any idea ?? You can swap the psu's for each machine. then check and see if the problem follows the psu if the problem follows the psu it is a psu issue. So swap psus and get back to us if the same board fails or not . i moved the board to another machine and it failed also after 30 minutes i sent it to them, it's second board dead from 3 S9 that mean 20% damages

bitmain remove about 8 from this small pieces used to dissipate Chip temperature ( i don't know it's name ) on S9/550 to make it higher temp than S9/600 and sell it on different batch that what i saw when i opened my B12 today

I think that your not working miners % is 66% , if you have only one miner perfectly fine.

But if you look at failed boards, he's 2 of 9 for 22% failures.
Also, I would bet the heatsinks were removed on those boards because right in front of the fan the topside heatsinks will be sufficient, and removing the backside heatsinks especially right near the fan motor will improve airflow (less backpressure and ducting) for heatsinks farther down the board and keep the whole thing cooler overall.

....
If I look my 9 replaced S9 boards from 23 miners , it is only 6 broken miners from 23, that is 26%If I Calculating from broken boards, than it is 9 from total 69 boards = only 13%The fact is, that today is the first day, if I have all 69 hashboards in my hands. From the first day one or more hashboards were on their way to China, or back . But I was never missing more than 3 hashboards at a time. It does only one or less broken miner from 23. Only 4,75% in the three-month period.

the s7 and s9 was a bad design.. thermally. the heatsinks right behind the fan in the center by the motor part of the fan get no air at all..
they should have added a 1 inch spacer on the intake and exhaust fan to help, but even then those front sinks are in a dead spot. also having those tiny heatsinks all over the place not even lined up is not helping either.
at the very least they should have made some jig to hold the heatsinks and make them all perfectly lined up.

My mod should fix this as the unit will be a little longer.

my goal is to make two miners. order a second controller. so you get a 2 board miner fully stock and pull one board cut the post to length from mount it here and you get a one board miner which you can downclock run in house and it needs under a 750 watt psu. Cost is not bad and if you have 5 or 6 s9s like I do this gives you spare parts plus let you tinker. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Veranda-4-in-x-4-in-x-6-ft-White-Vinyl-Square-Fence-Post-73010699/202084744

That doesn't make technically any sense, it must be a manufacturing failure or something?

they removed this heatsinks to make it heater and cannot overclock on the future so they have more temp than B600 all the time cgminer display maximum chip temp on the panel and they removed many of it to make PCB temp get high too so you can't overclock it

Just received my fith S9 12.93, i ordered from Bitmain Warranty here in the USA. After booting it up, the first hashboard had unusually high temperatures. Even after reducing the clock speed to 550 the first hashboard was still running at 101. Meanwhile, the rest of my S9's are running under 100 at stock or close to stock clock speeds. I had to reduce the hashrate to 525 in order to get this machine to stay under 100 degrees... A bit abnormal if you ask me... I went ahead and submitted a request with Bitmain Warranty regarding the issue to see what we can do about this. Anyone else have similar experience? https://flic.kr/p/MBLxh7
