Make a box in the windows then duct into the box and put a big fan in the box pumping air out. That is what I did and was able to hookup 20 antminers to a small 1ft by 1 ft window.

I too bought 10 units a few weeks ago for 2500 shipped each after all said, and done. Then they sold 14th models for 1800+ with PSU! I am really pissed off, and I can't even sell my unit to break even, and it will take 13-14 months just to cover the cost of the miner even with my per KW rate is .06 cents and no rent. Sad

I feel like the only option now is to run them..don't really want to sell for a loss, when they are brand new, and just arrived. Sad

Just dropped the price again today.   Shocked Shocked Shocked

Yeah, the L3s I bought at $1270 with coupons are now listing for $855.   Considering mine have not shipped yet, and you can't cancel an order with Bitmain, feeling a bit, ah, "worked over".

14TH S9s now $1365, a new low for them.

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.

Welcome to the decentralized mining age

thetaj buddy,

The antminer S9 just got its price reduced in new batch. Those that bought at 1.6k and 2k+ just 2 months back would have been better of if they bought now. What do u think would happen if future batches become cheaper and cheaper.

Look at the D3 now, the last batch was 318 USD. Previous batch was 550 USD. The batch before was 1.45k, and then 2k-3k+ and first batch was 5k+ ...if i recall right.
Point is the D3 now makes Negative 20 dollar profit at 12 cents electricity. It makes negative 4 bucks at 9 cents. It makes 23 bucks at 5 cents electricity.

Now buddy, tell me wat u think will happen to S9 mining profit if the S9 keeps doing the same D3 does, getting cheaper and cheaper batches all the way to the few hundred dollar per miner range?
I hope bitmain reconsiders their pricing strategy for their older batch supporters and future mining profitability.

Just my 2 cents.

Selling 100 dollar coupons (8units expire 11th June, 14 units expire 1st july) and 125 dollar coupon (2 unit exp 30th June). Selling at 20% of value

it is too bad that an "entity" can really manipulate and have that huge effect on the industry! shame!

Can already feel the pain with mining as reward is lesser and lesser even with a medium size farm. For people who are starting now, getting tempted now with low prices and expect profit... well... good luck.

I wont call it manipulation. I am aware this is just business. Last year btc price rose 10x, asics sales boomed. Btc price is not rising 10x this year, like last year. It isnt possible to rise 10x yearly. Btc market cap would go to 1.33 trillion and then 13.3 trillion in 2 years. Not possible with gold at 7.8 trillion mkt cap. Thus, I hope they can downsize their production capacity. Last year was an anomaly. It wont be sustainable because btc market cap cannot rise at that rate. Dear bitmain, some of us have already unplugged our D3. We will not break even on the D3. We dont wanna have to unplug our S9 too.

With this pricing strategy, only the newest batch would be good, until a newer cheaper batch appears. I hope bitmain also finds a solution for their older batch supporters and future mining profitability.

Bitmain could be trying to crush the competition as their miners are now much cheaper than all the other miner manufacturers and the efficiency is about same as all the others have caught up.

I suspect thats part of the reason. But things can still work out somehow. The D3 was bad but the antminer A3 was well handled. The first A3 batch users have already broke even. I hope that all miners will be well handled. The fact that they give out coupons and gave fair options to early X3 buyers also tells me they can find solutions too.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't understand the lamentations about a lower price. If you bought higher I get it, you feel like you got jammed. But that's the breaks. As far as how it will affect mining, it's good for mining as far as I can tell. Listen I noob paid 4700 for my first s9 in December on the secondary market and I'm not complaining. They went up to 6500 after that, and I felt pretty good about it. Now they're less than half that, but what if they didn't drop? Who knew? You take your chances. After my second one at 1850 usd I told myself I paid 7k for 2 to make myself feel better  Grin

More miners, more machines in spare bedrooms and garages and sheds all over the world, let's get it going. I don't see the problem.

Me too, noob paid usd$4000 for E9+ in Jan, and usd$2320 for S9 and value paid $1188 for M3.
Average them out and feel slightly better.

But the problem is, btc price stagnated and under-valued, plus hashing difficulty increases, whereas the electricity cost is still high for me. Plus the shipping cost, taxes and hosting fee, I am running the miners at a loss right now.

Was very tempted to get 1 more S9 but it would seriously undermine my relationship with my missy now  Sad

I'm in the same boat. Another month or so and I can expand again with another s9. Hopefully low prices will continue. I've already got the cord and the space ready for it.

At current btc price, might as well buy straight from exchanges and hodl till profitable to sell.

Mining is slow and it is subjected to the same amount of risk (if BTC dips further) for lesser reward.

If the current rewards continues riding at under $0.50 / per day / per TH, I do not suspect difficulty to keep increasing.
Just look at bitcoinwisdom and their difficulty predictions... We should be holding at roughly where we are for the next little while. The next prediction has it as going up by less than 1.5%.

I personally think what has happened in the last 4 weeks when it comes to ASIC machine costs, BTC price and difficulty is great for weeding out those that were trying to make a quick buck and great for the long term health of the [Suspicious link removed]dluck trying to flip those S9s purchased for $2000+ USD now...

I just wish that the ASIC machines on the market right now were more robust. I find it extremely strange that Bitmain won't offer brand new hashboards. They would honestly make a killing and would make more money selling the parts than the whole units themselves. I could see them having no problem selling S9 boards for $400US and they would sell hundreds based on the fact that there are countless people out there right now out of warranty with dead hashboards in their machines.

They can also just force people to buy new miners which makes them more money still, which is what they seem to be doing. I don't know when the last time they sold hashboards and parts for miners was, but I think they stopped around the time of the S7. Repair services like MyRig/Bitmainwarranty are out there and reputable, and it is possible to find hashboards (albeit most are used) on eBay, though prices there seem to be upwards of $600.

Bitmain's got so many customers that they can afford to use cheap materials to make their miners cheaper and increase their profit margins, other companies like Avalon offer much more reliable and robust machines than Antminer units. It's sad but true. Their first few iterations of the Antminer like the S1 up to the S3 were pretty good, then they started falling from there.
