The power consumption will be the same between both cards however the clock speed of Saphire edition is more then the XFX edition so maybe you get a little more MHS . Well i personally advise you to buy Spahire edition then XFX . XFX Available :4096 MB Type :GDDR5 clock speed :7000 MHz
Saphire Available :4096 MB Type : GDDR5 clock speed :8000 MHz

I will wait for 8 PCIe pin version. Reference design does not looks reasonable in terms of heavy usage, more like "look ma only 6 pin".

The RX480 killing mobos really isn't much of an issue for miners since we all use powered risers. The ribbon risers usually have a thick 16AWG cable connected to the molex, I am sure this cable can handle 100Watts no problem.
However no idea how those USB risers will work since they are powered by the SATA connector and those usually have a smaller gauge cable then regular molex.

The Risers I have coming in have a molex on the board and come with a SATA - molex connector. I'm just going to plug the molex right into the riser.

For those getting excited about the power usage reported by GPU-z --- Don't!That value is only for the GPU chip its self, it doesn't account for the rest of the board. When my GPU-z shows 83w draw from the 480, my actual measurements taken from the riser and the 6 pin are 141w, a difference of 60 watts! Here's confirmation from the creator of GPU-z himself: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/4qk17o/my_xfx_480_power_draw/d4tp4hc Are you the one that posted on the reddit ? You said you got 83w and 88w from pcie slot. So total 171Watts and not 141Watts. Also since you have some Tahiti cards can you post how much they consume so I can compare it to the 480 in terms of power consumption. People have been posting power consumption rates anywhere from 120-200watts using 25mh/s and hard to find a value to compare too.

One cable will handle 100W without problem. But do you have 6 molex cables connecting to the power supply?

What AMD did??? They designed card for 100-120w max, then when NV relesed 1070/1080 they bumped TDP by bios edit, but they did not redesign power VRM!!! Also I am not sure on the quality of 6pin connector I had problems with one 290x and 2x PCi-e 8pin one melted PSU cable from Seasonic, most connectors are not good quality even if the cable can push a LOT (one yellow wire might push as match as 10-20A), connector is crucial here and VRM design!

Wild ass guess between 2-2.5 Less than that, I'm getting 2.5 ETH/day for 370 MHS Edit: Looking for some Rx 480 4GB hashing number, anyone?

Im running 5x 480s cables are not hot at all 50% fans on all the cards with a custom profile 71 degree temps 26mhs eth and 531 dcr for all 5 cards im seeing 4 amps at 240v or so including the cpu and ram. looks to be around 170 watts per card for dual mining

Wild ass guess between 2-2.5 Thanks man. I will look to add more cards if possible. http://etherscan.io/ether-mining-calculatorYou will get 1.8 Etheruem with 250 MH/s. When you finish building the new rigs, the 250 MH/s will get you less than 1.5.
