I just got my replacements from Amazon I ordered the beginning of the month!! $239 Each!!
Replacements? Yes, the 1st ones fried the motherboard (my bad, using non powered risers). Returned those and ordered 4 more ($10 each cheaper as well). So did it fry the cards too? Were you using the un-updated drivers? Yes, I was using the old drivers (I got my cards on release day). Were the cards blown? No idea. Returned them, got credit and ordered replacements. Cards are here, still waiting on the new motherboards. 2 ASRock's on the way!! Did you plug the two molex connectors when the 480X fried the mother boards? I think it should not. I was using unpowered risers, so only the 6 pin on the card was connected. I now have powered risers. Live and learn So you did not use the Asrok pro BTC mother boards when you burn the cards and the motherboard? No

I will probably get RX 480 when they are available, but they are kind of disappointing, as i expected more. From what i see, they hash 23.5-24 mh and use 190W. My r9 390 from MSi hashes at 28 mh and uses 270W (without any overclocking), so not a tremendous difference in hashing vs power, about 17%. If you can get cheap MSI r9 390 (after rebates and selling warhammer), it might be a slightly better deal.

If you get cheap R9 390, it is faster ROI if your electricity price is low. But you can also undervolt 480.

The hashrate on rx 480 is 23-29 mh/s. Best results I have seen is 29 mh/s @ 120 watts/hour. I've created my own custom bios and am testing it on a test rig now as I believe this bad boy can be more efficient. These rx 480 have tons of OC potential. The bios indicates it can be OC +800 mhz up to 2000 mhz on the gpu. I've heard of one person running the 480 at 1.5 ghz.

Here...if you look closely you can make out the proper Hex values for the bios squeezed a few more MH out if it with some BIOS hacks

OC 1228 mhz XFX RX 480 8gb card was on sale at Microcenter/Houston for $249.99 today (cardbox says $259.99, but $249.99 at the register) plus tax=$270. Does anyone has good undervolt settings for this one? Usually i use ubuntu 14.04 or 15.10 for eth mining, but these cards require either 16.04 or just Windows. IF Windows, then I have 64 bit Win 7 on the disk-did anyone use Win7 or I have to upgrade to Win 10?
Thanks.

They are all based on the same reference architecture. Only difference you get is a different sticker that say Asus or Sapphire (PowerColor have the nicest logo holygram). Dont waste money. Also the RX480 likes to stay in the 83-89C range regardless of my office at ambient of 76 or garage at 100F, even though it's fully capable of dropping it's temp way below 70C just by increasing fan speed to 60% or higher. If you want it to run cooler set fan to manual or change via Wattman on what range you want it to be. I have all of the different brands for the RX480. The only 1 that I don't have is the Overclocked XFX version as I only have the regular XFX RX480. I wouldn't worry about the card overheating, the FAN is super strong at pushing the heat out.

They are the same cards, the only difference is the sticker for the brand. So buy the cheapest card to mine.
