I do have Gulden but I will be as neutral as possible.

You looking for quick gains ? Then walk away it's not a scam or pump and dump. It was not created by early btc adopters that have money to pump and sustain unrealistic prices.

That valuation you see for Gulden is pure as they come in the alt coin world. It has a market because both there android and iOS wallets allow you to pay at any Bitcoin or Gulden merchant.

They also releasing Project Q really soon which will enable direct Euro payments from Gulden into EUR bank accounts.

This is going to sound clique but if you not in a hurry to make 10% profit in 48 hrs then this is the best currency out there... and they have a great dev team.

We don't need Gulden when we've got other coins. If you are in for the quick buck, make a Geertcoin (you know to which blonde guy I'm referring). I guess that's the only way to trick Hollanders (Dutchies) in to buying a national crapcoin  Grin

Probably not a good investment. Seriously, gulden is relatively unheard of in the general bitcoin world and isn't that popular. Without a demand for this coin, there obviously wouldn't be a very bullish market.

Besides, we don't really need it when we already have other altcoins, and especially bitcoin itself. So there is really no point for gulden to grow in the future.

I haven't got any Gulden - but I do have some views on it.

I would say that it is a long term investment contender.
It's not a run of the mill scrypt/sha256 bitcoin clone - uses DELTA POW.
The devs tool a 10% PREMINE. This would be enough for many on BTC to start writhing and cursing like the little girl on the Excorist - however they appear to be spending this premine wisely and diligently.

Bottom line is that they seem to have quite big traction in the NL - if anything will break mainstream it could be somewhere like the NL where it happens and this coin would be an obvious choice.

My advice would be if you like a gamble, buy on the troughs and hold long term - it's pretty stable price wise anyway.

To be clear up front: I have shares in the development of Gulden & I own a pretty large sum of Guldens. Alright having said that let's continue;

(I'm aware I don't have a lot of posts; No I did not register just to post on this topic but it did trigger me to post for the first(?) time. I'm more a reader than writer on forum boards. Smiley )

1. I think that the answers given by hermanhs09 are very harsh, un-nuanced and shows that he's not informed well about Gulden + I sense a negative sentiment against altcoins (or Gulden in specific)?

Probably not a good investment.
This is an opinion which I would ask you to back up with data as it says nothing and doesn't supply any info relevant for the OP.

Seriously, gulden is relatively unheard of in the general bitcoin world and isn't that popular.
This would count for most altcoins + what do you expect from a project of this scale at this time? Time will tell.

Without a demand for this coin, there obviously wouldn't be a very bullish market.
Demand will grow as the apps get better, the community is working hard to expand the user base, people are working on projects attached to the Gulden blockchain etc. etc. There is a healthy user base already.

I don't think either of us have a crystal ball to see the future; Everything is relative and obviously people have the right to their opinion but if you are negative about something at least follow up with facts rather then sentiments so that the OP can actually make a clear assessment rather then this "everything other then BTC sucks" mentality which I see too often. Smiley

Besides, we don't really need it when we already have other altcoins, and especially bitcoin itself. So there is really no point for gulden to grow in the future.
If the current altcoins would actually release technology attached to their blockchain, actually released what they promised etc. I would concur though this is far from the truth with most Altcoins. One thing is for sure; The Gulden developers promise but also deliver and it just works. Using your logic Apple would have never released the iPod as there were already MP3 players in the market.... C'mon get real

Long story short: I'm not here to change your mind (hermanshs09) but I at least hope that my response to yours gives you something to think about and that you could be a bit more nuanced in the future.

2. I believe that the best reply given to the OP is actually done by glerant. Unbiased, honest & a good answer which looks at the pro's and cons.

Looking at the risks I have assessed less risk with Gulden vs ETH / ETC / LTC etc.. I mostly base this around almost instant NLG -> EUR (IBAN via nocks.co) or BTC  so you are very much in control of your Guldens and can exchange very rapidly. Secondly I have taken a look (and asked a WHOLE lot of questions) regarding the blockchain technology, the future plans, the developers (very skilled) and if they deliver on time (yes they do). The last part is that the community is great and very open to newcomers; Always willing to share information or discuss. It feels very welcoming always Smiley

Your comment about the pre-mine is very factual. They spend it on the community, community projects and anything else that can help Gulden forward. No sleazy things happening with the pre-mine at Gulden.

------

I just wanted to put this out there and everyone can feel or say how they think about things (which is totally fine).
If the OP has any questions I welcome you to the Gulden Slack where you can talk to everyone from the Gulden team and it's community directly if you have more questions.

Next release from Gulden is going to put other alts to shame, the developement lead said the bitcoin payments to desktop wallets is one of the smaller updates out of 10. This update is only taking 3 months.  Shocked Shocked Shocked

As a Dutch person I have been following gulden from the sidelines and I keep beeing amazed by the development and the services they produce. That is unheard of for an altcoin with their limited recources.

The premine appears to be still biting them in the ass, but it was created in the time that all country coins were premining to do airdrops on their Country.

Price has always been quite low and not moving too much, which is most likely due to them not being traded on poloniex. If it is traded there, more people will investigate and figure out what is acutally going on there.

Disclosure: I just bought my first few NLG yesterday. Not much at all, but I wanted to a few with the major upcoming release.

I don't find any special features for Gulden, just a plain and ordinary coin. I prefer other proven reliable coins.

iOS and Android wallets (Decentralized) and unique design that you can pay at all Gulden and Bitcoin merchants (No other alt has this)
Direct wire transfers into all Euro bank accounts on iOS and Android wallets. (No other alt has this)
DELTA Diff Algo - Most advanced diff algo thats allowed them to stay on scrypt instead of taking the easy road and going PoS or changing algo.
Update to 0.11 code base - About 5 alts have updated to this code base if they were originally developed pre 0.10. It's easier to create then update.
Very good community

They also said the next release will be the largest one yet.

There is more but can't think of it off the top of my head.

The premine is the reason the coin is this cheap, I agree it turns investors away but I can also vouch for the team having put it to good use to date. 99.9% of ICOs, IPOs, Premine'd coins have been scams which makes crypto users hesitant.

I bought my first Gulden a little over 100 about 2 years ago and today it's 450 with more supply, it's clearly a coin on rise and they not beholden to special interests because the community funds the projects.
