Probably not in the next 10 years. Ethereum took 2 years to come out ,and its just a pile of crap, with all the hacks and scams going on there. (not to mention the hardforks).

Best candidates would be:

LTC = Which is a copycat, so probably not

NMC = Which doesnt really serve as currency

MONERO = Probably high chance, but it doesnt even have a GUI wallet yet, so better make that come out first.

Other than that, there is no viable competitor to bitcoin ,and probably wont be for the next 2 years, and to beat bitcoin...? That would take a lot more than that!
i would like to nominate litecoin instead any other cryptocurrency ,
they have a very strong community and did not often lost too much value ,
even you must realize that the chance this thing to happened very low ,
bitcoin are too big to be replaced.

The Monero is too different from the bitcoin. It uses totally different technology. Its blocks are bloating fast.
I would choose monero all day, we have witness already that the community are capable of making the price of monero high and that only prove this asset is very valuable, in fact we can buy monero now at its cheap price and make profit one's it will start to rise again.

Monero is a reasonably safe altcoin and it may be great for trading but I don't think it can ever replace Bitcoin. The initial impression a coin makes tends to define how big its userbase can grow to. The devs would have to bring truly game-changing innovation to the table for Monero's userbase to explode and reach Bitcoin level.

it seems impossible in the present time but who know what exactly would happen in the future , there's always a chance to replace bitcoin but they can never make the same feature . it can never be replaced until the bitcoin mining and blockchain would go down .
Yes its impossible not only in the present time but in the upcoming years as well i dont see that happening.Because there is not even any comparison of bitcoin with any other altcoins in this crypto-world,bitcoin would always rule the crypto-world among all cryto-currencies.

I don't think that happens, and if so happens this possibility is far for now. even with ethereum, the bitcoin has remained strong and I hope it stays that way for at least a decade.
Though we cannot completely strikeout that there will be no other cryptocurrency to overtake bitcoin, but the probability of such event happening is indeed very minimimal or it may take a very long time and efforts to come by.

right know i even pray for it to happen and fast. as this will happen i would like it to happen now and then we can maybe start growing and become big. bitcoin is good and has established himself, but it has its flaws. a better coin would have them too, but hopefully would be still considerably better then bitcoin. so changing now would be easier then to do it later.

Yes, this makes sense. Bitcoin is probably not suitable for replacing every and each fiat coin in the world right now as it is and make an unique, universal coin... So another coin will probably replace it, or Bitcoin will evolve so much that it will make no more sense to call it Bitcoin. Only future will tell.
I dont think this is going to happen becasue i know for sure thast the bitcoimn cannot be replaced by an other crypto currency just becuase i know that ther bitcoin is trongerr than that.

Wow this is very nice question then. That can happen,For now bitcoin ramains by far the popular decentralized virtual currency, but there can be no guarantee that it will retain that position .There is already set of alternative currencies inspired by bitcoin.thus said by bitcoin, web site FAQ under Economy. Thanks cheers.

I don't think of a specific altcoin that will displace bitcoin from its current hegemony. I prefer to think that sooner rather than later will occur a conjunction of events that might make the bitcoin gradually lose its current value. Remember that even almighty technologic advances gradually were displaced like yahoo or IBM, so it is impossible to think that bitcoin will remain forever.

well by just seeing another alts which gaining its popularity in short period or in other word "very fast" such as ethereum or even icomoni as the next because its ICO was succesfull gather thousands of bitcoin,it will be such a serious competitor for bitcoin in the future and not very minimal chance to overtake bitcoin's place

When we talk about cryptocurrency network, anything could happen in a short or long run. At the same lots of digital currencies existed following bitcoin which got vanished in a very short time. On this account the possibility of bitcoin getting replaced by some other digital currency is very low.

I do not see this happen at all because the bitcoin has a good future and it will not be replaced due to the fact it already has been so popular and it has a lot more worth than other altcoins too so the chance is very small that this will happen!

And as bottom line, those alts you mentioned are purely for investment purposes which is not a good thing since crypto was meant for changing our ways to send and received money.

Bitcoin is the only crypto that has good advantage if used as a currency or investment. So right now, I can't see of other crypto that can surpass what bitcoin achieved and will never think of that.

Don't forget that Bitcoin is an open source project. When needed, enhancements can be implemented to make Bitcoin a bit more future proof.

One of these enhancements is Segwit that might get activated this year. After that there is Lightning Network that we get to experience.

I think for the coming few years these updates will be more than enough to satisfy most people as it brings Bitcoin to the next level. We'll be ready for more usage and adoption.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

At this stage we don't see any competition to bitcoins but there is no guarantee that the same thing will be followed in future too, as there is a possibility that bitcoin can get replaced in future by some new and innovative currency.
Well i dont think so because as you said bitcoin has no competition as of now,and in the future it doesnt seem any other coin has that potential to even compete with the bitcoins,it will always be most important crypto-currency.

Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency?

Ah....Well, if we are separating "bitcoin" from it's underlying technology and isolating the bitcoin blockchain to stand alone unchanged in this argument then I would say, "yes, no doubt."  But, as long as bitcoin is allowed to evolve then it will never become obsolete.  Those other "altcoins" are all just different shades of bitcoin....they wouldn't exist without bitcoin.  The only danger that I can foresee jeopardizing bitcoin's network is its governmental inertia, or it's resistance to change.  Bitcoin needs to be prepared, willing, and capable of adapting to the demands of innovation in order to stay competitive; otherwise, it might be replaced by one of its more adaptable offspring someday.

bitcoin are the first cryptocurrency , the first big thing invented on internet
i don't think soon or in the future any other cryptocurrency can replace bitcoin
even it was amazing ethereum within 2 years become popular as litecoin and dogecoin
i believe bitcoin will be honored as the mother of cryptocurrency.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

As we all know, Nowadays in bitcoin world, many altcoins has been rising up in cryptocurrency though majority of the old coins too are being closed also. Bitcoin is the master of Crypto currency, right now its very hard to replace it but everything is possible to be happen.

Yes it would and cannot be replaced.  We all knew that bitcoin is the base of all other crypto currencies that are on the market right now.  It is the father of every altcoin as it is the first one and it is the most popular.  I also think that some altcoin will not surpass it.  Yeah, still possibke but as of this time it is not.  Maybe we just have to wait for a century for it to happen.

And as a father as you said, whatever the performance of bitcoin, the altcoins will also be affected. Take it for example just today, the price of bitcoin is increasing and look at ETH, it is also falling, so there's really a relationship..

When bitcoin is progressive, alts will fall so it cannot be replace when bitcoin continue to perform well.

bitcoin will not become obsolete or other cryptocurrency couldn't take take away the position of bitcoin because bitcoin us itself a role model and father of all cryptocurrency and some of the altcoin is counted in terms of bitcoin not. paper currency. And bitcoin have must market capitalization and no can surpas it's piece. it will always remain on top
